Work Text:
The smoke burned Serenity’s throat as she inhaled calmly. A light tapping came up from behind her. Charlotte wandered next to her, a small hiccup escaping her perfect lips.
“Hey Sherenity, how’ve ya been?”
“It’s been 5 minutes, Charlotte.”
“Yeah, well I missed you still.”
Charlotte hopped up and sat down next to her, their feet dangling from the porch rail. Serenity took another drag, closing her eyes and feeling.
“Y’know,” Charlotte began, “you’ve been doing really good recently.”
Serenity looked over at her.
“What do you mean?”
“Well, for starters, I’ve seen your light off earlier in the night.”
“Well, sleep deprivation does that-“
“And, you’ve been smiling more. Did I ever tell you how much I love your smile, and how much I’ve missed it?”
Serenity scoffed, turning away from Charlotte to hide the intense blush on her cheeks.
“Yeah, right. You’re only saying that to make me feel better.”
“No, Scary Eyes, I’m being serious. You have the prettiest smile in, like, all of Liberta.”
Serenity put the cigarette out on the rail, turning to face Charlotte.
“I only smile this much with you.”
Charlotte smiled proudly, her chest aching slightly, in a good way.
