Work Text:
Jiseok and Jooyeon have been best friends since they knew the existence of each other. They were glued to the hip —almost playing every day and eventually going to the same school. Jooyeon is a year older than Jiseok, which means they don’t belong in the same class. It’s the only thing he hates about being a hyung. Other than that, he enjoys taking care of Jiseok and protecting him.
The class has just ended and now they’re just waiting for Jiseok’s mother to pick them up. Hyeongjun is responsible for driving them to school and picking them up after. He drops Jooyeon off at his home or sometimes Gunil or Jungsu will pick him up at their house instead. He’s usually on time. However, he’s running a little late today because of work. He calls the teacher on his way to inform the kids. They understand and Jooyeon is more than happy to look out for Jiseok as they wait for him.
“Hyung, I want to buy candy!” Jiseok pulls the sleeve of Jooyeon’s uniform to get his attention and points at the stationery shop beside their school.
“But Uncle Hyeongjun said you shouldn’t eat a lot of sweets,” Jooyeon recalls. Jiseok knows that. He just thought he could get away with it without his mother. To get what he wants, Jiseok pulls out his not-so-secret hidden weapon, pouting and staring at Jooyeon with his big doe eyes. That tactic always worked with Seungmin, but not much with Hyeongjun, and apparently with Jooyeon, too.
Jiseok is just so cute, Jooyeon admits. If only he could give him all the candies in the world, he already did. But as a hyung, no matter how much he adores the younger, he must learn to be strict when needed. He promised their mothers that he would be a reliable and responsible hyung to Jiseok, and he’s not going to break that.
“How about bread, Jiseokie? Do you want to get bread instead?” He suggests.
Bread is not the same as candy, but it’s okay too, especially the bagels that Hyeongjun makes. They're the best.
“Okay.” Jiseok settles with bread for now. He’ll get his candies some other time.
The stationery shop sells various things, from food and toys to school supplies. It’s a place popular with the students. They don’t necessarily buy all the time, just simply looking at all the marvelous things inside makes their eyes already full.
Jiseok goes straight to the counter where the food is. He picks a bread covered in sugar. In his logic, it might taste just like candy. While Jooyeon looks around, the cute little stationery catches his childish eyes. Most of them are designed in either Sanrio or Pokémon and Jooyeon loves Pokémon.
“Hyung, what are you holding?” Curious little Jiseok asks.
“A Pokémon ring.” Jooyeon stares at the cute Pikachu glued to the fake silver ring for a few seconds before putting it back on the shelf regretfully.
“Why did you put it back?”
Jooyeon looks at Jiseok with a big smile to mask his sadness. “Hyung doesn't have the money to buy it!” He says with exaggerated positivity. Jungsu doesn’t give him pocket money because he has enough packed lunch and snacks to not need them, which he understands. “You can buy your bread, Jiseokie. I'll wait for you outside.”
It's stupid, Jooyeon thinks. He has a Charmander plushie, which is ten times bigger and better than the Pikachu ring. There's no need to want it when he can't even play much with it.
"Hyung!” Jiseok comes running to Jooyeon with a wide grin. “Look what I got!” He waves his hand in excitement. Jooyeon's eyes blink dumbly, looking at the exact Pikachu ring he wanted earlier.
“Give me your hand.” The younger instructs.
The older mindlessly lays his hand out, so the younger can do whatever he wants. Jiseok slides it on his ring finger, which reminds Jooyeon of something he just asked his parents a week ago.
“If you put it there, that means we’re getting married.” Jooyeon points out with a blush dusting his cheeks.
“Then we’ll get married. Whatever that means!” Jiseok replies innocently, but Jooyeon doesn't hear the last part, mind clouded by Jiseok, marriage, and the Pikachu ring that just became his number one treasure.
“Promise?”
“Promise!”
_____
When Jooyeon turned thirteen, he became surer of his feelings for Jiseok. It’s not just a brotherly love like what their parents think it is. He takes care of Jiseok because he loves him, not as a brother or friend, but as someone he wants to marry in the future. He knows they’re still young and many things will happen in the future, but Jiseok has been a constant part of his life and that’s how he wants it to be until he grows gray hair and becomes wrinkly.
“Jooyeon is already so big,” Hyeongjun comments as he looks at Jooyeon in his new middle school uniform.
“I know, right? He’s gonna surpass Gunil hyung’s height soon.” Jungsu jokes which make Hyeongjun laugh. They’re chatting while drinking their mandatory morning tea, as they wait for the boys to be fully ready for school.
Jiseok finally comes out of his room, fresh from the shower in his elementary school uniform. His hair is still a little damp after squeezing his morning routine in five minutes. When he sees Jooyeon in the living room, he comes to him right away.
“But why is Jiseok small when you and Seungmin are both tall?” Jungsu points out with pure curiosity. Jiseok is only a year younger than Jooyeon, but their differences in height are very visible.
Hyeongjun shrugs, not knowing or caring about his son’s height. “But he’s cuter that way, isn’t he?”
“He is indeed cuter that way.” Jungsu agrees, and it’s not just him. Jooyeon seems to agree too with the way he coos at Jiseok lovingly.
“Hyung, I’m sorry I woke up late.” Jiseok pouts for forgiveness, which gives Jooyeon cuteness aggression early in the morning
“It’s okay. We still have a bit of time. Here, eat your sandwich while I blow dry your hair.”
Jiseok didn’t even realize the egg sandwich on the table. He eats it happily while Jooyeon takes care of his hair, massaging it gently in a way that makes him fall asleep.
“Such a baby.” Hyeongjun teases his own son. He takes the car keys from the foyer table to alarm them to finish faster. “What will you ever do without your Jooyeon hyung?”
Jooyeon has proven himself reliable and responsible. That’s why Jiseok likes to rely on him and loves being babied by him. “I don’t know, but it’s not a problem because hyung won’t leave me, right?” Jiseok turns his head to look at Jooyeon, waiting for the answer he already knows.
“Of course.” Jooyeon ruffles the younger’s freshly dried hair. “I will never leave my Jiseokie.”
“Hyung is the best!” Jiseok says as he throws himself at Jooyeon on the couch, practically straddling him.
“Okay, okay. Let’s get going now if we don’t wanna be late.” Jungsu reminds the boys about school. They obey him quickly, slinging their bags on their back and following Hyeongjun to the car.
It is during dinner when Jungsu asks something that stops Jooyeon from eating his food.
“Jooyeon-ah, do you have a crush on someone?” Jungsu casually asks. It’s just something that he noticed lately. Jooyeon would sometimes stare into nothing with a dopey smile and a faint blush on his cheeks. He also asked Jungsu for help in making chocolate for white day , which he said was for his friends.
Jungsu doesn’t believe it. Jooyeon would never put that much effort into his friends unless it’s Jiseok.
“Crush? I don’t have that.” Jooyeon denies it, avoiding his parents' eyes, making him even more suspicious and unbelievable.
Instead of being worried, Gunil is actually thrilled to see his son have a crush on someone. There’s a playful grin on his face that doesn’t escape Jungsu’s eyes.
“Who are they? Is it from your class?” The question is a trap and Jooyeon becomes a stupid victim. “No.” He answers and that’s how his parents confirm he likes someone.
Gunil and Jungsu aren’t that strict and Jooyeon knows that. They won’t reprimand him for having a crush at such a young age, but it’s embarrassing to talk about such things with your parents. Jooyeon continues to hang his head low while eating, acting like he didn’t just spill his deepest, darkest secret.
“Having a crush is normal, but don’t forget, you’re still too young to be in a relationship. Do you understand?” Jungsu gives him a little reminder as a mom. Jooyeon nods in affirmation.
Gunil understands that Jooyeon is big now and needs privacy and space, but he can’t stop his curiosity, so he settles with one last question. “We won’t ask you about it further, but can you at least tell us if it’s a boy or a girl?” It’s a small detail, but it will help Gunil narrow down his prospects.
If Jooyeon’s crush was a girl, it would be easy for his parents to figure it out since they’d only have a few choices on their checklist. “It’s a boy,” Jooyeon confidently reveals. He’s surrounded by a lot of male friends, so it’ll be hard for them to pinpoint who his crush is. And as long as they keep on thinking that the way he looks at Jiseok is nothing but of an older brother’s, then he won’t have a problem.
____
Jooyeon was responsible for protecting and taking care of Jiseok, but when the younger entered high school, their dynamics changed. Now, Jiseok is the one doing the protection and Jooyeon is the one who needs saving.
It started when one of Jiseok’s admirers —Jaehyuk— got jealous of Jooyeon’s special relationship with the younger. Since he was rich and had a big influence on the school, when he pointed out Jooyeon’s eccentric behavior and made fun of it, Jooyeon became an outcast. He tried fighting back once, but the damage was only on his side. There’s no use in fighting them, he realized.
So whenever Jooyeon would get bullied, Jiseok would come to his rescue. Jiseok doesn’t have to do much — just impose his influence. Everyone in their school knows who his parents are, so they know better than to provoke him. In fact, he could’ve sent everyone who hurt Jooyeon into expulsion a long time ago, but Jooyeon stopped him. He didn't want his parents to know what was going on and make them worry. Jiseok only agreed as long as Jooyeon would ask for his help whenever he was in trouble.
It was undeniable that Jooyeon was much stronger and bigger than Jiseok, but the situation made him feel weak and pathetic. At first, it was hard to accept that he was no longer the reliable and responsible hyung he once was. There’s this feeling that he has let their parents and Jiseok down, even when they’ve never said anything like that. Then slowly, he came to understand that Jiseok had grown into a strong-minded boy with wits and maturity that he could never attain.
But even if a lot of things have changed, and it scared Jooyeon sometimes, it can’t erase the fact that he’s proud of Jiseok.
However, another change happened that Jooyeon wasn’t ready for.
“I told you to stop harassing Jooyeon hyung!” Jiseok stands in front of Jooyeon with his arms spread wide, acting like a shield and barrier with his small body.
A group of students, which are Jaehyuk’s lackeys, threw Jooyeon’s lunch. Jiseok, who was eating with his classmates, saw everything that happened.
Hyunsuk kicks the wall in annoyance. “Let’s go. This loser’s guardian angel is here.” Then he spat on the ground before walking away rudely with the rest of his gang.
The pitiful lunch that Jungsu made is now in the trash bin. Jooyeon wants to cry because his mom worked hard in preparing it and his bullies just dumped it like nothing. He’s seething in anger and Jiseok notices it with the way his fists are clenching tightly that the veins in his arms are about to pop.
“Hyung,” Jiseok holds Jooyeon’s hand to calm him down, but the older yanks it away. “Why did you say that it was an accident when it clearly wasn’t?”
“Because I want you to stop meddling in my business,” Jooyeon says coldly, which has been his attitude towards Jiseok lately. He stopped hanging out with Jiseok and avoided him most of the time. Jiseok is aware of it, but he doesn’t know why and he’s afraid to ask.
Jiseok is hurt. It feels like Jooyeon is slowly removing him from his life. He thought they’d be together forever. Jooyeon promised that he would never leave him, so why is this happening now?
“I can’t do that hyung,” Jiseok speaks bravely against him. “Come on, I’ll buy you a new lunch.” He tries to pull Jooyeon back into the cafeteria, but the older wouldn’t budge.
“I don’t need your help. Just go back to your boyfriend.” One thing Jiseok didn’t notice was the pain and hurt in Jooyeon’s voice. He was so shocked at the words that left Jooyeon’s mouth that he slipped right out of his hold.
Jooyeon cries in his room that night. It’s all too much for him. His high school life is the worst and to rub salt in his wound, Jiseok got himself a boyfriend. He doesn’t know how much more of it he can take, but he’s glad that he’s graduating soon. He’ll never see his bullies again and he can finally distance himself from Jiseok when he goes to college. It’s painful, thinking about being separated from Jiseok, but it’s better than seeing him with somebody else.
____
For the first time in their lives, Jiseok and Jooyeon aren’t attending the same school. With outstanding grades, Jiseok got into a prestigious university while Jooyeon continued to attend an average one. Jiseok is studying computer science and engineering, then Jooyeon is studying physical education.
Because of this, they grew apart. However, none of their parents know about it. They still act like they’re best friends and brothers for life in front of them. It wasn’t their intention to deceive them. They didn’t talk about it either. It just naturally happened as both parties didn’t want their families’ friendship to be destroyed because of their “fall out”.
Christmas is coming, which means the Oh and Goo family will have another celebration together. It’s their annual tradition that Jiseok and Jooyeon respect, but this year Jooyeon doesn’t feel like going. He heard from his mother that Jiseok got engaged to his boyfriend and might bring him for Christmas. It’s the worst thing that has happened, and Jooyeon feels his world crumbling down.
Jooyeon doesn’t like drinking alcohol, but it’s the only thing he knows that could help him forget the pain. He pays for five bottles at the convenience store and heads straight to his apartment to drink alone.
After what feels like an eternity of loneliness, he hears a continuous doorbell, followed by loud knocks, when he takes too long to get to the door. He checks the intercom first and sees a familiar figure in front of his apartment. It’s Jiseok. He can’t believe his own eyes because as far as he knows, Jiseok doesn’t know where his apartment is. Even if it’s not that hard for Jiseok to get the information from his parents, it still feels unreal. He has no business with him anymore.
It could be the aftermath of drunkenness, hallucinating the love of your life who just broke your heart. But when Jooyeon looks back, he realizes that he has only drunk two glasses. That much can’t hurt him, even if he’s a lightweight.
Jiseok must be really at his front door. The latter proves it by banging loudly again, which pulls him back to his senses.
“What are you doing here?” Jooyeon asks when he opens the door.
Jiseok enters Jooyeon’s apartment without permission and closes the door behind him first before speaking. “Are you not going home for Christmas?” Jiseok looks and sounds mad. Jooyeon is confused.
“Yeah, I’m not,” Jooyeon confirms and sees Jiseok’s gaze going past him to his table where bottles of alcohol are laid unceremoniously. “Did you come here just to confirm that?”
The expression on Jiseok’s face changes into something akin to worry and concern. It’s the same look he always saw in him during high school. “Hyung, what is happening to you?”
“It’s none of your business.” Jooyeon drinks a quick shot because he feels like he would need it. Jiseok takes his glass from him, though.
“It is my business! I may no longer be your best friend or your brother, but to me, you still are. You changed things between us, but I’m still stuck in the time when we were still okay. How am I supposed to move on when I don’t know what’s happening?”
That’s understandable, Jooyeon thinks. He’s the only problem, after all. It’s all just him and his stupid feelings. “Do you want to know? Are you sure you’re ready for it?” Jooyeon challenges Jiseok. There’s nothing left to lose when he has lost already, anyway.
“I want to know,” Jiseok replies seriously.
Jooyeon doesn’t need alcohol anymore. He starts without it. “When we were kids, you promised something to me. You broke it Jiseok. It might be nothing to you, but it was everything to me.”
“Hyung, what are you talking about?” Jiseok has no recollection of a promise that he broke.
“If you don’t know, then that’s better. It’s stupid anyway.”
“It’s not stupid if it’s everything to you. Please, tell me.” Jiseok begs. He can’t take being kept in the dark anymore.
“I love you Jiseok, so much!” Jooyeon confesses suddenly. It’s something Jiseok has heard Jooyeon say before, far too many times. However, something tells him that he’s not just talking about brotherly love this time. “I’ve loved you way before you put a Pikachu ring on my finger and promised to marry me. I held on to that promise Jiseok,” Tears begin to form in Jooyeon’s eyes. “So even if you got into a relationship, I thought that you would come to me in the end, but I was wrong. You don’t even remember it, do you?” Jooyeon’s voice cracked in the end.
Jiseok’s heart throbs in a good way. It’s certainly not what he expected to hear, but it’s everything he has wanted to hear. “I remember it!” He quickly responds before Jooyeon gets the wrong idea. “It’s the day when I started liking you.” He adds in a much softer tone while looking anywhere but Jooyeon. Jiseok can never be bold about these things.
“What are you saying?” Jooyeon asks in disbelief. There’s just no way Jiseok remembers their promise, much more reciprocating his feelings.
Jiseok musters all of his courage. He’s going to end the misunderstandings once and for all. “You heard me, hyung. Honestly, when you said the ring meant that we’d get married, I didn’t know what it meant at first, so when I got home that day, I asked my mom. He told me what marriage was and when I pictured us together like that, I wanted it so bad. I realized how much I love you.”
Jooyeon could only dream of it before, but now Jiseok is here in front of him, telling him he loves him too. It makes him happy and confused at the same time. “Then why? If you love me, then why did you have boyfriends?”
“I didn’t like any of them,” Jiseok admits, regret laced in his voice. “I thought you only liked me as a friend, as a younger brother, so I entered relationships to move on from you. But I couldn’t! You’re still the one that I love.”
Now it all makes sense why Jiseok’s relationships never looked happy and real, although it was still enough to make Jooyeon jealous. “Do you really love me?” Jooyeon inches closer to Jiseok.
“I do.”
Jooyeon thought he could have his happy ending already until he remembered the reason for his forthcoming headache. “But don’t you have a boyfriend? Aren’t you already engaged to him?”
“No, no!” Jiseok quickly denies it. He’s had enough of misunderstandings. “I broke up with him after he proposed. I don’t want to marry him. I only want you, hyung.”
There’s no time to waste. Jooyeon holds Jiseok by the back of his head and guides him to his lips. Jiseok tiptoes and wraps his arm around Jooyeon’s neck while he kisses him back. He can taste the alcohol on his tongue and Jiseok doesn’t mind getting drunk from it. The kiss is messy and hasty — full of tongue, clashing of teeth, and saliva. They love it anyway.
Jooyeon puts his hands under Jiseok’s bottom. The younger quickly gets it and jumps to cling to him, wrapping his legs securely around his waist. Then they kiss again, much slower this time, but just as passionately.
“Are you mine, Jiseok?” Jooyeon asks to make sure this is all real.
“Yours. I’ve always been yours, hyung.” Jiseok confirms.
They can continue kissing, maybe even take it up to the bed, but Jooyeon's weird mind plants an idea in his brain.
“W-Wait for me there,” Jooyeon instructs in haste, leaving Jiseok standing awkwardly near the couch. The latter doesn’t know what’s happening nor what to do, so he just does as Jooyeon said. “Just give me a sec,” Jiseok observes as Jooyeon rips a paper from a notebook lying randomly on the floor, which leads his gaze to more objects scattered across the flat: dirty clothes, food packets, and used tissues. Jungsu will be mad if he finds out how his son has been living on his own, is all that Jiseok can think of.
When Jiseok puts his focus back on Jooyeon, he’s already folding the paper into something he can’t decipher. There’s a crease on Jooyeon’s forehead, his front teeth peeking out, which happens when he’s absorbed in whatever he’s doing. Jiseok is still clueless, but he finds it all endearing.
After more than a minute, Jooyeon finishes, back in his original position. He looks antsy, hiding his right hand behind him, the other rubbing his sweatpants to dry the moisture that has started to form in his palms.
“What’s wrong?” Jiseok asks, half anxious and half expectant.
Without a word, Jooyeon kneels on one knee. This scene is very reminiscent of something that just happened to Jiseok a week ago. He’s seen it in films, even experienced it firsthand. He knows what’s going to happen, but it doesn’t stop the thrill and joy that’s bursting in his heart right now.
“Jiseokie, let me do it properly.” Jooyeon starts, mind working ten times faster than usual and heart beating irregularly. “First of all, I’m sorry for being stupid. I’m sorry for distancing myself from you without explanation. I was selfish. I only thought of myself and my pain that I didn’t notice you were hurting, too. This wouldn’t have happened if I was braver. If I took the leap and made our relationship clear, we could’ve been happier. You wouldn’t have had to engage in loveless relationships. I know there’s no use in regretting because what’s done is done, so I’m going to forget all of that and focus on what’s in front of me right now —the Jiseok who loves me back.” Jooyeon smiles, the kind where his gums can be seen and his crooked front teeth are much more visible. “Jiseokie, I’ve loved you since we were kids. There’s no one else whom I want to spend the rest of my life with. Will you marry me?”
Jooyeon finally reveals the two-minute craft he just did, a paper ring with a heart in the middle. It’s silly, just like the Pikachu ring Jiseok got for Jooyeon when they were kids, but it must be their brand and they both wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Yes, hyung! I will marry you!” Jiseok responds all too excitedly, feet springing up, and can’t wait for Jooyeon to put the ring on him.
Absurdly enough, the ring fit Jiseok’s finger perfectly.
“I’m sorry if it’s nowhere near romantic. I can do better than this, but I just want to make you mine right away. I don’t have a ring with me and I thought this was better.” Jooyeon points at the paper ring. “Than a soda tab.”
Jiseok hugs Jooyeon to console him. “You don’t have to apologize, hyung. It’s more than perfect because it’s you. Where did you even learn this?”
"I was in an origami club," Jooyeon explains, a bit embarrassed. He hugs the younger back, burying his nose into his head, sniffing the vanilla shampoo he missed so much. “I love you Jiseokie.”
“I love you too, Jooyeon hyung.”
They celebrated Christmas together with their family. That same day, they announced to their parents that they were engaged. No one was surprised, though. Everyone was aware of their obvious feelings for each other. It’s just Jooyeon and Jiseok who had been oblivious all this time.
____
Jooyeon worked part-time jobs to afford Jiseok a proper ring. He gave it on his birthday. It’s nothing extravagant, but Jiseok loved it. He was happy to finally wear something that served as evidence of their love. The paper ring is something he would’ve actually worn too, but he was afraid it would break. It’s too special, so he kept it in a special container instead.
Their wedding only happened after Jiseok graduated. They didn’t want to wait that long and planned to do it as soon as Jooyeon got out of college, but their parents advised them to wait until Jiseok graduated. Their family knew that they would have to consummate on their wedding night and there was a high chance Jiseok could get pregnant. As much as they don’t have a problem with Jiseok getting pregnant early, it was still best for him to finish university first to avoid problems in the future.
Now, Jooyeon and Jiseok can finally fulfill their dreams. They’re in a luxurious cottage in the Maldives, gifted by Seungmin for their wedding. Jiseok is sprawled on the bed, pretty with nothing but his makeup on. His legs are spread, presenting his pink and wet pussy to his husband.
“Give me babies, hyung,” Jiseok says with lust hazed mind.
The sight is so erotic and Jooyeon engraves all of it in his brain. He doesn’t want to forget this ever. His wife’s pussy is mesmerizing. He gives it a taste, and he feels lightheaded at how sweet Jiseok’s fluids are. “Baby, you’re so sweet.” Jooyeon kisses his clit tenderly.
Jiseok moans, which is just as pretty as his face. “Hyung, you can worship me later. But now, I want you to fuck me. Need your cock, hyung.” He doesn’t care if he looks pathetic and desperate. He begs for his husband’s cock. “Give me your babies.”
Jooyeon smirks, feeling proud for reducing Jiseok into a cockslut mess. He instantly lines up his fat cock in Jiseok’s pussy, wanting to fuck him right away just as much. “How many babies do you want, hm?” Jooyeon asks while he plays with his wife’s big breasts. “Can’t wait for this to produce milk.” The comment is so lewd it makes Jiseok even hornier.
“I don’t know, but I’ll take all the babies you can give me.” The answer is very Jiseok. Jooyeon doesn’t prolong the wait and gives what his wife wants. He buries his cock deep in Jiseok’s hole, fucks him like he deserves, and plants all of his seeds far.
They did nothing in those three days except make love. It didn’t feel like a waste when they came home satisfied. Especially after weeks, they got the good news that Jiseok was pregnant.
Several months later, Jiseok bore two beautiful twins named Jaehyun and Donghyun. Jooyeon and Jiseok couldn’t wait to spend their lives together with their sons for as long as fate allows them to.
