Summary:

This is it. All those late nights of staying up thinking about this man, his heart racing a mile a minute whenever he met him at the door of Sigewinne’s daycare, it was finally going to all be worth it. He was finally about to score a date with the hot teacher.

Work Text:

Hey, I was wondering if you–

*delete*

Hi! It's Wriothesley, Sigewinne’s father. I saw you–

Howdy!

The man slammed his head a bit harder than intended on the flat surface of his desk. Who knew texting a daycare teacher would be so fucking difficult? Not Wriothesley! That’s for sure. It’s not like he knew the man for long either, only two weeks and yet…those alluring eyes and white hair–not to mention his legs, never left his mind. He and Neuvillette barely spoke more than seven sentences with each other. Just some simple, hi’s and how are you’s before Wriothesley handed over his daughter and headed off to work. No wonder he’s struggling, he barely knows the guy and how he would respond to certain advances.

For a moment he regrets even asking Sedene, Neuvillette’s assistant, for his number. Now he’s here, stuck between making a fool out of himself or staying forever hidden in the dark with his heart behind his back. “This is a waste of time…” The dark haired man mutters as he buries his head into his arms. He’s supposed to be getting work done but how can he focus, when the man who keeps him up at night is only a text away?

“You’ve been sighing all day…should I ask what’s wro-”

“It’s about that one guy that I–well, I managed to get his number but wouldn’t it be weird if I messaged him out of the blue? What should I say?” He immediately turned to one of his coworkers, Clorinde, and spilled his woes before she could even complete her sentence. The woman looked up in thought for a moment, took a sip from her drink and turned to her friend with a serious expression. “Why not? Just text whatever comes to mind. What’s the worst thing that could happen?”

If he had a tail, it would be wagging like a dog getting a treat. Hearing basic yet encouraging words from her gave him this immediate boost of confidence he needed, especially considering Clorinde’s dating history—he must be doing the right thing here. In a sudden flash, his fingers tapped against the keyboard as he typed up a quick, not-too-lengthy but not-too-short message.

To: Hot Daycare Worker

Hi! It’s Wriothesley, we spoke yesterday and your assistant gave me your number.

You seemed to get along with my daughter really well so I thought maybe you’d like to hang out with us some time during weekends?

After the second text was sent, Wriothesley immediately screamed into his hands which startled his nearby coworker. “What happened?!” Clorinde asked in a panic, fearing that something serious had gone wrong. “Was I too forward with the ‘hang out with us during weekends?” The man cried, “What if he thinks I’m a creep?!”

Relieved that nothing serious happened, Clorinde sighed but was immediately overcome with annoyance. “You’re sounding just like my cousin…and she’s fourteen!” Pressing her fingers into the bridge of her nose, the dark-purple haired woman sighed. “Look, just take a deep breath, okay? You’re overthinking things. From the way you described this guy, he sounds like he would be the type to let you know if you said anything that felt too forward—which, by the way, didn’t sound forward at all. Don’t sweat about it.”

Ah, Clorinde. What would he do without her?

“You’re right. You’re right. I’m just…nervous.” He coughed awkwardly after taking deep breaths like she suggested. “Understandable, but the text is already sent, so all we can do now is wait. Plus, you’re a great guy and he sounds like one too. I highly doubt he’ll reject you.”

Yeah. Clorinde was right. Neuvillette is great and so is he. Everything was going to be alright, there’s no reason to worry.

Four minutes later, a notification from his phone alerted him that he had just received a message. “He opened it!” He exclaimed, with the biggest smile on his face. This is it. All those late nights of staying up thinking about this man, his heart racing a mile a minute whenever he met him at the door of Sigewinne’s daycare, it was finally going to all be worth it. He was finally about to score a date with the hot teacher.

Wriothesley went back to screaming in his hands as Clorinde patted his head comfortingly.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Why the hell did he text him? Why did he ask Sedene for his number in the first place? He should’ve chosen the latter, staying hidden in the dark with his heart behind his back. He became so confident for nothing.

“I have to see him when I pick up Sigewinne today. I’m going to die of shame. Why did you make me text him?”

I didn’t make you do anything, Clorinde wanted to say. However she chose to keep her statement to herself, as her friend was currently experiencing a moment of embarrassment and humiliation.

Maybe he’ll switch Sigewinne to a different daycare. Yeah, that should work. Then he will never have to see the hot teacher ever again. Even moving halfway across the country would be nice. Yup. He could buy a farmhouse and become a farmer. Live out the rest of his years growing crops and raising livestock, forgetting that this all ever happened. But…Sigewinne has already made so many friends there and it’s not too far a distance from his house which has worked perfectly for him…

Plus, being a farmer didn’t sound so appealing to him.

Sigh

Guess he’ll have to man this one out, huh?

“Miss Navia, a moment of your time. Please?” Neuvillette politely called out to the blonde woman, setting down the last sleeping child for nap time. Navia nodded her head as the two quietly tipped toed around the sleeping children and slipped out into the hall, pulling the door shut. They both walked over to her office, Neuvillette thanking her as she held the door open for him. “I’m assuming it’s something you wish to speak about privately?” She asked as she closed the door. The woman reached into her cabinet, pulling out two mugs. “Water, right?”

The white haired man nodded his head as he sat on the additional chair, sitting in front of her desk. “Yes and to answer your first question, yes. It’s regarding a message I received from one of our children’s father. His name is Wriothesley.”

“Ah, Sigewinne’s dad? The prison administrator?”

“Yes, him.”

Taking one of the mugs, Navia pulled out the pitcher of water from her fridge. “Interesting…” she muttered as she set the water-filled mug in front of the man. “What did he message you about?”

“Well, it’s more so what I did after he messaged me…”
He trailed off as he fished for his phone in his coat pocket. “Seeing how well Sigewinne and I got along, he asked if I wished to join them on weekends. However…” Showing the blonde his phone screen, “When I tried accepting his invitation, I clicked on something and this popped up. What does this mean?”

Navia blinked at the screen.

One.

Two.

Three.

Four.

Five.

Five blinks.

The woman shoved the water pitcher back into her fridge as a sigh made its way out from her lips. “It means you blocked the poor guy.”

Now it was Neuvillette’s turn to blink five times.

Blocked? He blocked Wriothesley?

After a while it seemed his brain began to function again and the man swiftly pulled his phone back, “H-How do I unblock him?” The phone was snatched from his grasp as Navia tapped on some buttons before handing the phone back to him. “Just don’t press anything on that top right screen. You don’t need to worry about that. Also, I saved his number and name in your phone so, you’re welcome.”

“Thank you very much, Miss Navia.” The teacher sighed out gratefully. Navia waved him off as she took one last sip of her own water. “Don’t mention it. I’m going back to the room with the kids. You can leave your mug on my desk when you’re done, I’ll take care of it.” After another thank you, Navia left her office—leaving Neuvillette behind to now freak out over what he would even say to Wriothesley.

The man more than likely saw he was blocked and would be extremely confused on why Neuvillette would suddenly text a guy that he blocked. But, explaining what happened would be just as awkward and embarrassing. However, Neuvillette knew he owed this man an explanation.

To: Sexy Prison Warden

He would have to talk with Navia about changing that.

Good day to you Wriothesley. Allow me to offer my sincerest apologies, I seemed to have accidentally blocked you without realizing but I was able to receive assistance in undoing this action.

To answer your question, yes! I would absolutely love to join you and your daughter sometime this weekend. Maybe we could have a picnic at the park?

When the second text was sent, the teacher shoved his head into his hands and screamed.
