My Bestie

Summary:

A compilation of Katy x Lammy stuff

Chapter 1: The Prologue

Chapter Text

Lammy had an awful day.

She went to the store and attempted to buy an immense amount of groceries only to have insufficient funds, causing her to take 300 dollars out of savings. On the way home, she bumped into someone and spilled their drink. She was yelled at and berated even when she sincerely apologized afterwards. Even after she walked away, the individual kept yelling at her, calling her horrible and offensive names. She must’ve been having a really bad day, assumed Lammy. There’s no way someone would just call someone a “clumsy bitch” if they weren’t already in a bad mindset.

She then got a call from her mother, informing her that she was in the hospital…again. A forty-six year old woman shouldn’t be consuming so much caffeine, even if she is the head of the social work department in PaRappa Town. She also ran into Cathy on the way home from the hospital. Cathy is a good person, but she’s a very difficult person for Lammy to talk to. She ended up spending around an hour begrudgingly listening to Cathy enthuse about her job as an obstetrician, all the while listening to her describe in excruciating graphic detail how she delivered a baby with harlequin ichthyosis. She even showed Lammy pictures.

Finally, she had a panic attack once the elevator leading to her apartment broke down with her still inside. It took an hour of sitting in a hot elevator for maintenance to arrive.

After climbing six flights of stairs into her apartment, she plopped onto her bed and began crying into her pillow. It’s gonna be over soon. It’s gonna just pass on.

Then she called.

Immediately picking up the phone, Lammy pretended that she wasn’t just crying less than two seconds ago. “Hey! How’s it going?”

“I got stood up.” Katy said bluntly. Her voice sounded raspy and defeated. She was supposed to go on a fancy date with this guy she met online, only for him to not show up. “It’s been over three hours, and he hasn’t shown up. He didn’t even respond to any of my messages.”

Lammy could hear the pain in her voice and began crying again, but softly enough so that Katy couldn’t hear her over the phone. She felt absolutely terrible for her. She had been really excited about this date, and the fact that this guy just ditched her was absolutely devastating for Katy.

“Oh, Katy, That’s horrible!”

“Tell me about it.” Katy stopped talking for around a minute or so, however, Lammy could still hear her bandmate weep softly to herself. “Are you okay?”

“What does it look like?” Katy said sarcastically. After another few seconds of silence passed, Katy apologized. “I’m sorry, that was rude. You’re just trying to help, and here I am treating my best friend like shit. I’m worthless.” Lammy, who had taken no offense to her previous statement, quickly corrected her. “No no no no! It’s alright! You are not worthless!” Katy was slightly taken aback by the sudden burst of assertion Lammy had. It wasn’t the first time she comforted Katy when she was upset, but it was a rare occurrence since Katy wasn’t the type to get so down easily. “You are such a strong woman, you’ve got me through so many horrible times in my life, and you’re brave for even telling me this!”

“I just needed someone to talk to, and you were the only one who really knew about this date. I don’t see how this could be considered ‘brave’”.

“Well, some people never tell others when they’re emotional. I’m glad you called. You’re such a wonderful person and I absolutely love seeing and spending time with you. Katy, you matter so much to me. You are not worthless at all. If you need anything at all, please call me! I’ll do my best to help you. That’s a promise.”

Katy smiled. “Thanks Lammy. You’re also a very wonderful person. I love it when we talk to each other.” Lammy surprised herself at how confident she felt. All she really did was just…speak from the heart. Maybe she should do that more often, she thought.

“Anyway, I should probably get back to the apartment. By the way, you should see what I’m wearing! I’ve never worn anything so sleek and sophisticated before. I’ll send you the only three pictures I have of my outfit. Keep in mind they’re a little…saucy. Ah well, I’m sure you won’t mind.”

Lammy laughed. “I don’t mind at all. I’ll talk to you later.”

“Goodbye!”

Lammy said goodbye back and hung up. She decided to check her messages from Katy, just to see what these photos looked like…

Upon looking at the first photo, she got a small nosebleed.

There were three photos. All of them showed Katy seductively posing in a tight, black single piece dress. She was also wearing a lot of blush, thick black eyeliner, and bright cherry red lipstick. She also wore matching red heels. She appeared to be in her room in front of her mirror. In the first picture, she posed curtly at the camera, pointing the side of her hip out and pursing her lips. The second image was of Katy bending forwards and sticking her tongue at the camera. The final picture was of her squatting down facing away from the camera. Pushing out the back of her waist.

Upon viewing these photos, Lammy’s heart began racing. She’s seen Katy pose like this before, but there was something different about these images. Lammy looked at Katy in a way she never saw her before. Is that dress too small for her? Was her chest really that…robust? Was her butt really that big?! Lammy had these questions flooding her mind as she became mesmerized by the pictures. Suddenly, she stopped looking. “There’s no way.” She thought to herself. “I’m not into other women. And Katy?! You can just forget it.” She said to absolutely nobody.

But she never could forget. No. How could she? Katy had been friends with Lammy since she was eight years old. She was everything Lammy aspired to be. She was strong, energetic, and above all, confident. She was the polar opposite of Lammy personality wise. She was jealous of her blue feline friend. Was it jealousy? Yes, Lammy wanted all the same traits that Katy had. However, Lammy did not want to take that away from her.

She looked back on the time they first met in 2nd grade. Growing up, Lammy had a hard time making friends. Her shy nature and general awkwardness made it difficult to talk to the other kids and she would constantly get bullied for it. Katy was the only girl who wanted to talk to her. Years later, Lammy couldn’t tell if their friendship started out of pity or not but she could easily tell that Katy still enjoyed being around her. They liked the same cartoons, the same music, they were always seen together and would get really annoyed or upset if they weren’t chosen as partners in an assignment or activity.

Around middle school, they met Ma-San. She was mostly Katy’s friend, but she had no ill will against Lammy, even if she was very blunt and direct. Katy really liked Ma-San, they had a lot of things in common too. But Lammy was never jealous, except maybe for how easily she made friends. Despite this, Lammy was the first person Katy would come to for personal questions, and vice versa. They would enthuse about boys, movies, and all kinds of music.

High school was difficult for Lammy, but it had nothing to do with school. A very significant life situation changed her emotionally and mentally, yet her life was changed for the better. Katy didn’t find out what happened immediately. When she did, it changed her whole perspective of Lammy. She went from an awkward and nervous person to a traumatized soldier who had just gone back from hell on earth. Katy never knew what exactly happened to her best friend, but what she did know horrified her. But despite all of this, her relationship with Lammy never changed. In fact, it grew stronger. When Katy found out Lammy played the guitar, she immediately let her join the new band she had just made.

Now, with both girls being in college, they became more popular than ever. Their band became a local sensation, thanks to the immense success of their first real concert (which is a story for another time), they were the stars they always dreamed they would be.

She’s been thinking fondly about Katy for so long, that maybe…

…”Maybe.” Lammy quietly said to herself as she began to dream about playing music with Katy.
