Is Duct Tape Made With Dark Magic?

Summary:

This is the story of one time I failed to capture the Master of Masters, but gained some valuable knowledge about a certain type of adhesive tape.

Notes:

This may be the worst thing I've ever written, have fun!
Narrator is Reader/my oc from my other Master of Masters fic. Someday I'll turn that into a whole AU/series, but for now have this silly spinoff.

Work Text:

Duct tape belongs to the Darkness.

How do I know? Let me tell you a little story.

This was a long time ago, back when I was trying to capture the Master of Masters.

"Why capture him if he was trying to thwart Darkness?" You ask? That's not the point of this story, so don't worry about it. Okay?

Anyway. I'd been working through all kinds of tools and spells, but nothing was working. The Master's magic was so powerful, it would take a whole team to overpower him.

Luckily, as my research led me to more and more people, I was able to form a pretty solid team of people who shared my goals.

One of these people introduced me to a new item called duct tape. Apparently it comes from some world where they make a bunch different fancy tapes. I've never been there.

This tape is like, Super sticky on one side. Sticks to everything. Not just ducting or whatever else you want to tape up, but your fingers, and every little speck of dust, and especially itself. Kingdom Hearts help you if you let the sticky side fold back on itself.

So we were going to use this duct tape stuff to secure the Master once we were able to subdue him. Secure him so we could negotiate what we wanted from him, use his freedom as a bargaining chip.

"Why not just tie him up with rope like normal?"

I'd already caught him once before... sort of. And I'd seen how he could wriggle his way out of even the most secure knots in ways that should have been impossible.

With this sticky duct tape, he would be glued to his bonds, and that should stop him from slipping out. Or at least make it a lot more difficult.

So we did our thing. Pretty standard infiltration, capture, transport, all that. I'd done most of this exact thing on my own before. There was barely even any sign of security improvements.

Soon enough, we've got him in this abandoned warehouse, thoroughly taped to some chair thing they had bolted to the floor for whatever reason. I wasn't asking questions. This place wasn't our base, just some out-of-the-way building where we could do what we needed to do.

It didn't take long before he woke up from the barrage of spells and Keyblade strikes we'd all thrown at him.

He didn't even look confused about the change of scenery or his tape-related predicament. just looked right at me and said "I see you brought friends this time." And some other stuff that's not really important. Don't worry about it.

He said his little piece and then... Man it was the weirdest thing I've ever seen. He just. Started wiggling. Not like he was trying to slip out the way he did to escape ropes. Just wiggling. pulling the duct tape back and forth until it unstuck from him.

Yeah you heard that right. The duct tape unstuck from him. And he slid right out of the tape like it was nothing. I guess it was nothing to him at that point.

I couldn't stop him, just stood there staring in awe, or existential terror, or maybe just feeling personally offended. My team too. Every one of us rooted to our spots in shock.

He almost made it out of the warehouse before I managed to speak at all.

"How...?" It was all I could muster.

And the Master just waved his hand all nonchalant and said: "The coat repels Darkness. Thought you knew that. We'll try this again next week, can't wait to see what you and your buddies here come up with next."

Then he walked out while we all stood there and watched him go. Nobody knew what to do. Why would we have prepared for anti-glue abilities? That's. Not a thing. Unless you're the Master of Masters, I guess.

The tape was still just as sticky as always when we went to clean it up. Like it had never been stuck to anything at all.

I'd say that all means duct tape is made of Darkness, or at least has Darkness in it.

And think about it, have you ever seen a Guardian of Light use duct tape?
