Muichiro was staring up into the sky cloud gazing, an activity the mist hashira would regularly do even before his memories came back. Only now he would remember why the shapes of the clouds look familiar.
“Tokito!” Came a familiar voice
Muichiro looked to his side and saw that it was Tanjiro along with Inosuke
“Ah Tanjiro, glad to see you!” Muichiro shouted while smiling a wide smile, “Oh and inosuke what brings you two here?”
“Ah…well…I told inosuke about how we had a paper airplane competition and how no matter what me and everyone else couldn't beat you…
Muichiro smirked hearing this, “Yeah you all couldn't come close to beating me.”
“...yeah well….inosuke wants to challenge you.” Tanjiro said awkwardly as Inosuke puffed out his chest and put his hands on his hips
“Ah…well I was actually going to ask someone to do that too, I'll go get them so that we can all do it.” Muichiro replied as he then walked away
“Mehahaha! I'm gonna make the best paper airplane ever!”
“Inosuke…do you even know how to make one?”
“........AGH! shut the hell up konjuro!!”
“It's okay if you can't inosuke. I can help you make one if you want.”
“......thanks.”
Tanjiro smiled as he helped inosuke with making his airplane, moments later Muichiro returned tugging someone by the arm with him. It was Genya Shinazugawa!
“Come on. Will You hurry up and actually start walking? Dragging you around is annoying.”
Genya let out an annoyed, “tch,” and pulled his arm away and started walking, but instead of being upset Muichiro just looked at him with a smirk, causing him to blush and look away.
“I'm back and I brought Genya!.”
“Ah, welcome back and hello Genya, how are you doing? Are you feeling better? Is your injury okay?” Tanjiro said while Inosuke was getting his airplane ready.
“I’m….fine…” Genya said while trying to not make eye contact but Tanjiro’s bright aura was making it hard not to see him
“Ah I’m glad you’re doing great, I was worried about you!”
Genya blushed slightly while Muichiro chuckled, Tanjiro seemed to be overly nice to almost everyone and seeing people’s reactions to it was humorous
“Haha! It’s done! Lord Inosuke is ready to destroy you all with his mighty airplane!” Inosuke yelled out sticking his airplane in the air
Muichiro smirked at this, “We’ll see about that,” he said while pulling his airplane out, “Are you ready to lose as well Genya?” Muichiro commented while grinning confidently at Genya.
Genya pulled out his paper airplane awkwardly and nodding his head, “You’re one!” He said trying to sound confident
“Genya are you alright? You smell kinda nervous…”
“You can smell emotions?” Questioned Muichiro but his question went unanswered
“.....tch,” Genya was hoping his actual feelings would go unnoticed but leave it to Tanjiro trying his best to care for people….even him, “When I was younger…me and my siblings would play with paper airplanes…and whenever we had a competition….I….would always lose….”
There was silence for a bit before Tanjiro said, “Oh so you think you’ll lose because you use to? There’s no need to think like that Genya, you’ve grown and gotten stronger and more skilled things might turn out different for you.”
Hearing this Genya stood there in silence before smiling, “Thanks,” this caused Tanjiro to smile back.
“Can you two stop flirting already? I’ve got to beat you guys in this competition,” Muichiro said interrupting their moment.
Soon they were all lined up, paper airplanes in hand.
“Ready?” asked Muichiro, with the Tanjiro and Genya nodding their heads and Inosuke yelling, “Hell Yeah! I’m gonna win!”
With a smirk Muichiro said, “Alright….Ready…..Go!” and with that all 4 of them threw their planes high in the sky. Each of them waiting to see who would be the winner.
All excepted Muichiro, he was looking at everyone else and their reactions to their planes flying. Seeing them all happy, doing something as simple as throwing paper air planes and enjoying their time together….it gave him a very warm feeling, a feeling he hasn’t felt before….it seemed as though it was stronger than his feelings with his friends.
This feeling…it made Muichiro more happy that he had regained his memories and that he was able to experience this moment with them. At that moment Muichiro realized that this is what he was born for. The feeling he had with his family, the feeling he felt with fellow slayers and friends, and the feeling with Tanjiro, Genya, and Inosuke.
He was born to be happy.
