"What?" Kirishima muttered out in disbelief as he listened to what his friends had to say.
...
It had been a normal Monday for class 2-A so far. They'd completed most of their classes today and so they all went to lunch.
Mina had hurried the 'Bakusquad' to lunch even as Kaminari protested about waiting for Bakugou when he noticed him having what looked like a very boring conversation with their homeroom teacher Aizawa.
When the bunch had gotten their food from Lunchrush and settled down on their usual table in the cafeteria, Mina sighed.
Kaminari huffed poking his fork at his lunch. "What was that about Mina? I mean, I look forward to lunch and all but─"
Mina quickly cut the boy off, not even making eye contact as she shushed him.
Kaminari titled his head in confusion before following her gaze, looking at the other students gathered in the cafeteria. He turned back to the girl who was now looking the other way.
"What? What are we looking for?"
"It's more of a who." She muttered as she turned back to face the group of confused boys. "Bakugou didn't follow us here did he?"
Denki gave her a look. "Well I tried to tell him we were leaving, but we know how that went."
Mina shrinked back a little realising what he meant. "Sorry, I just..."
She sighed and pushed her tray of food away from her before setting her hands on the table as if she were holding a meeting. Was that what this was?
"We need to talk."
Kirishima groaned as he chomped on his food, not really paying attention. "Can't it wait till after lunch? I'm starving.." The red-head pouted.
Mina shook her head. "We need to talk about it while he's not here."
The hint of disgust in her voice as she mentioned this 'he' didn't go unnoticed by the rest of the group.
Sero perked up, wiping a crumb from his lip. "Uhm, who exactly is 'he'?"
Mina groaned. "Bakugou." She said as if it were obvious.
"What." Katsuki muttered as he sat down next to Kirishima and set down his lunch.
Mina jumped back in surprise at the boys presence, mentally cursing for stalling the conversatiin long enough for him to arrive.
"I was uh─ what did Aizawa ask about?"
Katsuki ignored the way she switched up the conversation, telling her to 'fuck off' and 'mind her own damn business.' before he began to eat.
He also ignored the way she rolled her eyes at him and started poking at her own food.
...
That brought the latter to where they were now. School had ended some time ago and all of the class had already had their dinner. Most of them had already settled into bed while a few sat in the common room and talked about their day.
Mina had texted the 'Bakusquad' during dinner asking them to meet up when they were all finished eating, she also made it extremely clear not to invite Bakugou.
"Why are we doing this in my dorm again?" Sero asked for the second time.
"I already told you, we can't do it in mine, and Denki's is way too messy." Mina replied.
"What about Kiri's?" Sero groaned.
Mina shrugged. "We're already here, plus this is important."
"Speaking of which, what's all this about?" Kaminari asked as he got himself all comfortable in the warmth of Sero's bed.
"Dude!" Sero moaned out.
Kaminari shot him a smug smile before turning back to Mina.
"You seemed to want to talk during lunch too before─"
"Before he showed up." Mina said finishing Denki's sentence in that same disgusted tone.
It was silent for a minute, Kirishima breaking the silence.
"Why...why're you saying it like that?"
Mina sighed and crossed her arms. "Look you guys, there's no easy way to put this. I don't want us to be friends with Bakugou anymore."
Denki barely let the girl finished before he started to laugh. "Funny joke Mina!"
Mina eyes the boy, a dead serious look on her face as. "I'm being serious Denks, I─"
"You're serious?" Denki asked.
"God Kaminari let me speak!" Mina huffed angrily.
Denki shrunk back into Sero's bed a little at the tone.
Kirishima noticed looking back at Mina with a frown. "There's no need to yell at him, he's just confused, we all are."
Mina sighed. "Sorry I just. I really don't think we should...y'know, be friends with him anymore."
"Did something happen?" Kirishima asked and Mina took a deep breath before she spoke
"I just think it's time we speak about how Bakugou treats us. He treats us─ everyone like they're below him, like─ like he's some kind of almighty God! I just don't get how we've put up with this crap for this long, we literally just let him talk down on us, I mean come on, what kind of friend belittles you like that!?"
"Mina─" Kirishima tried to speak
"No, Kiri listen, I don't want to be friends with someone like that, you may think I'm being harsh, but there is no other way to put it. Bakugou acts more like a villain than a hero and heroes do not like villains, let alone befriend one!"
"Mina that's a new type of low, a villain, seriously?" Kaminari repeated his jaw dropping at Mina's words as he sat up on the bed.
Mina scoffed. "It's true and everyone knows it."
Then it went quiet, no one spoke. How do you even say something in a situation like this? One minute you're acting all fine with your friend and the next you're having a private meeting talking down on them?
"Don't any of you agree with me on this?"
No one spoke for a minute before Kirishima and Kaminari's eyes widened in shock as Sero slowly walked towards Mina. He stood at her side before looking up at the two.
"Look guys, I guess I never thought about it until now but, sometimes Bakugou's comments do hurt."
Kaminari had stood up from Sero's bed by now, standing beside Kiri. "Dude it's Bakugou, he doesn't mean any of that shit, it's just his personality."
"Being Bakugou and that just being his personality doesn't excuse how he acts towards us Denks, like it or not it's the truth."
"That's not what I─"
"But isn't it." Mina interrupted. "Think about it, up until now all we've done is excuses his actions because that's 'just how he is' or 'Bakugou's just like that', my personality doesn't make me curse you guys out every five miliseconds and neither should someone elses. You both know damn well that you wouldn't take those kind of insults from someone else, so why him?"
"Because he's our friend!" Kirishima replied, his voice coming off more desperate than he wanted it to.
Was their friendship really about to be torn apart?
"You don't know that! He might be our─ your friend, but are you his!?"
And ouch that really stung. They'd never thought about it that way before...at all.
"We─"
Mina sighed. "You don't know the answer to that do you. This is my point."
Denki and Kirishima exchanged glances. Mina was right. They couldn't answer that.
"I think we've talked enough." She continued. "I've made my decision and I think you should make yours, do you agree with me or not."
"You make it sound like we have to choose.." Denki muttered, and at Mina's silence his jaw dropped impossibly lower. "Wait─"
"Are you seriously making us choose between our friends? Guys this isn't grade school, we're teenagers, we should sort this out by talking─"
"And you really think Bakugou is in anyway going to sit down and have a calm conversation about this? Hah. Funny. I'm not trying to start anything, I just want you to know it's either us or him."
"Mina─ Sero, man talk some sense into her!" Denki pleaded.
But Sero didn't say a word. Infact, he had barely said anything since this whole thing started.
"Sero, c'mon..." Denki continued, his voice low and desperate.
Sero sighed as he looked back and forth from Kirishima and Denki to Mina.
"I don't think we should make them choose Mina, they can be friends with him if they want." Sero then turned to the two boys. "But. That also means we don't have to be friends with his if we don't want, which means no talking us into being all buddy with him. We've made our decision and you've made yours."
Denki balled his fists, his knuckles going white. How could they just decided something like this so fast, did they even realise what they were saying?
Just as Denki opened his mouth to speak he felt Kiri's hand on his.
Kirishima shook his head which made Denki falter as he went quiet again. "C'mon..." Kirishima mumbled.
The two left, Denki being out the door first, followed by Kirishima who turned to look at Mina and Sero on his way out.
"You guys are shit friends." He muttered angrily.
Mina rolled her eyes. "Say what you want Kiri, just don't come crying to me when Bakugou finally hurts your feelings bad enough and you realise you should've listened."
Kirishima grit his teeth angrily before looking at Sero. He rolled his eyes before leaving, making sure to slam the door extra hard on his way out.
He met Denki who stood in the hall just outside Sero's dorm. He looked up at Kirishima, a confused and hurt look on his face.
What the hell just happend.
