Chapter Text
It was the same old day in tuefort, sniper high up in the base looking down at the enemy team below, reloading he takes the shot with the bullet going right through The BLU Heavy’s head. “boom.” He muttered to himself shifting the scope over trying to find anyone else before finding that bloody BLU spy sneaking into the red base. The hell was spook up to this time? Sniper wondered to himself rolling his eyes.
Taking in a breath he slowly lowered his riffle turning around to then be met with all too familiar silver butterfly knife to his throat. “we meet again Mon Cheri.” the French bastard teased pushing the knife closer to snipers throat causing him to drop his rifle. Damnit.
“you know I never understood the reason why people obsessed over French accent...” the sniper chocked out as the tip of knife teased the skin, fear flowing through his body more than blood flowed out. The Enemies brows furrowed, leaning down closer to the man below him “I don’t have time for your snarky remarks bushman.” He grumbled pushing the blade closer to the mans neck drawing blood causing the Aussie to wince. “you’re bloody bastard.. you know that?” He chuckled before his vision faded to black. Back to the respawn machine again.
He swore under his breath before his head turned to medic getting respawned beside him, “Spy?” he asked raising an eyebrow. “Spy.” He mumbled picking his Medi gun back up sighing as he does so. “I swear to god if that cunt tries to slit my throat again...” sniper mumbled grabbing hold of his kukri trying his best to calm down but to no avail, the match went on not really changing from the current pattern with him just being back stabbed over... and over... again..
“You lost!” the administrator called with the following sounds of “Booo!” the RED team letting out a collective sigh. Sniper dropped down his rifle as he looked out at the battle grounds below seeing the reminisce of used bullet cartages, rotting limbs and blood stains on almost every surface. As his eyes grazed over the field they soon landed on that same bloody BLU spy running across the dirt ground back to his base his hands clutching his side as it seemed he had what appeared to be a limp? In just a moment, thoughts flooded the Aussies head, why wasn’t he calling out for his teams medic? Did he forget that all health pickups disappear when a match is over? Snipers curiosity got the best of him and decided to follow behind the Frenchie, picking up his rifle as he slung it over his shoulder.
Surprisingly it wasn’t the hardest thing to find where spy was for once as the idiot left a trail of his blood behind. Following the tracks spy made, he turned around a corner to be met by a pissed off spy and that same stupid bloody butterfly knife to his throat. “What are you doing following me bushman?” he questioned with a huff clutching his stomach tighter. To say the least he looked like shit, his eyes were sunken and from the little you could see of his face it grew paler by the second. “Woah, woah! I was just trying to see what you were doing! And keep that bloody knife away from my throat! you know we don’t respawn when we aint in a match.” Sniper mumbled grabbing hold of spy’s hands pushing the knife away.
The shorter man slipped the sharp object back in his jacket as his breathing began to grow uneven, which caused the brunette to become vexatious. “hey why aint you calling for your medic? You look like you’re about to bleed out spook.” The Aussie question as he kept on being met with dazed blue eyes.
“I’m fine.” He mumbled as he swayed a bit more the ground becoming unfamiliar to the French mans feet. He was in fact not fine and anyone with a pare of working eyes could tell so. Snipers knew something was up and as much as he hated the man he couldn’t just let him die. He cleared his throat as his hands balled into fists, “now- I’m gonna help you, but don’t you dare think that means I like you or anything.” He exasperated his hands going onto the masked mans shoulders.
Steadily he helped the spy sit down on the now blood stained concreate, crouching besides him as he pushed up his glasses. Sniper grabbed ahold of the silver blade form the others jacket as he sliced off his own sleeve wrapping it around the bleeding wound questioning almost everything, things just didn’t add up. Who even did this? Was this some sort of accident? or were they out to seek revenge? Sniper just shook his head mumbling at the whole ordeal while he finished off the knot around the Blu's waist.
“Ya able to walk?” he looked up at spy to then realise he passed out. Shit. His calloused fingers pressed against the French mans neck feeling for any pulse and to his surprise it was still there. But now he was met with a new problem. Where the hell was spy gonna go? He couldn’t just leave him here, but if he tried to take him to BLU’s base he’d be more than killed in seconds. Sniper sat there contemplating his options and the outcomes, his fingers rubbing against his stubbled chin before a lightbulb went off.
Swallowing his pride, he lent down and picked up the spy who was surprisingly light for a man his height and began to give the literal enemy a piggyback ride back to the camper. It was a stupid idea, pretty idiotic, but in snipers mind he had no other choice. As his feet gently dragged across the battle field to his disappointment the teleporter back to base was out and he was in for a lonnggg walk.
Thankfully, he didn’t mind all that much as the roads were illuminated with various street lights, and the subtle chirping of crickets in the grass was like music to his ears. It was so peaceful he almost forgot about the BLU on his back.
