Wukong ran towards the tree on the beach, holding a peach in each hand. When he got to the tree, he saw Macaque leaning against it watching the waves gently brush onto the shore, Wukong sat down beside him and held out a peach to him. He looked at Wukong and smiled warmly, "Thanks Peaches".
Wukong smiled back before biting down on his peach, the juice slowly ran down his hand. "You always eat so sloppily," Macaque commented with a smirk on his face, "Well you-" Wukong stopped and tried to think of something to say back, but came up with nothing, "Shut up!" He crossed his arms and looked away with an annoyed expression on his face, being overly dramatic.
Macaque laughed at the dramatic reaction and rolled his eyes playfully, "I'm so sorry for hurting your feelings, your highness" He put his hands together and continued, "Can you ever forgive me?" He responded in an overly dramatic pleading tone. Wukong looked back at Macaque and played along, "Perhaps there's one way to forgiveness." Macaque looked at Wukong awaiting the answer, "Cuddles!" He launched himself at Macaque, hugging him tightly.
"Wukong too tight! I can't breathe!" Wukong loosened his grip and rested his head on Macaque's chest, Macaque brought up his hand and ran his fingers through Wukong's hair. Wukong closed his eyes and relaxed. He listened to Macaque's heartbeat as he was on the edge of falling asleep when he noticed that Macaque had stopped petting his head.
Wukong felt Macaque's heartbeat slowly stop beating as his warmth also slowly slipped away, Wukong opened his eyes in a panic, but when he opened his eyes he wasn't on the beach anymore, neither did he see Macaque anywhere. His heart stopped as he looked around, taking in his surroundings. The battlefield where he.. He felt a weight in his arms and looked down, in his arms laid Macaque's lifeless body, blood dripping down from his right eye. Wukong's staff laid beside him, covered in blood, the same as his hands.
Tears fell down his cheeks uncontrollably as his breathing quickened. A million thoughts ran through his head, his vision started to blur because of the tears. He hugged Macaque's lifeless body and closed his eyes, wishing it wasn't real even though his body was as cold as ice.
Wukong sat up on his couch in a panic, his eyes widened as tears were still running down his cheeks. He breathed heavily, grasping his shirt as he slowly calmed down his breathing, "Another nightmare." Wukong laid back down on the couch and sighed. He thought about that moment all of those years ago, that single moment he would regret for the rest of his immortal life, it would forever refuse to stop haunting his mind.
