Work Text:
Yuno felt like she had spent practically all day prepping for this. Kotoko had been gone for a while - which meant it was the perfect time for her to set up a little dinner for her and her girlfriend. She was a little tired from baking and cooking. It had only been a few things, but it was quite tiring.
She'd spent ages double-checking everything and reading up on every small detail just to ensure everything was perfect, now she had to wait for her beloved partner to return. She'd decided she'd take a little break on the couch to rest, after-all she worked ever so tirelessly! She deserves a break.
Curling up on the couch and allowing herself to sink into the cushions, prepping her head up on a nearby pillow just to ensure she didn't hurt herself with her sleeping posture, Yuno closed her eyes and allowed herself to enjoy the sickly-sweet dreams that come with resting in warm places.
Warm places are so often associated with, well, warmth - but their also said to bring all kinds of good dreams and make you feel all sweet and tingly inside once you wake up from them. Not all dreams give that feeling though, some dreams leave you feeling ill and disgusted, the others empty and weak.
Yuno rolled on her other side at that, hair covering her eyes as she yawned, eventually falling asleep. Her dreams were a mix of things, they were nice yet not always - she supposes that comes from her previous line of work, so when she does get one of those unbearably sweet dreams, she'll take it.
She had a nice one tonight, being with her girlfriend, tightly in each-other's embrace, and even enjoying some of the things she had made - wait, when *does* Kotoko get home? Perhaps she had already come, and Yuno was so lost in her dreaming she hadn't noticed but -
Oh. She did come home, silly mistake to make after all. She always comes home on time, she supposed. Yuno raised her head at the woman stepping in through the door, humming. The dark-haired woman with stunning red eyes. Yuno opened her mouth to speak to her but ended up failing as that simply resulting in her yawning.
Kotoko just walked up to her in silence, sliding off her jacket and placing it on the edge of the couch before sitting down on the couch with her, wrapping her arms around the woman. Yuno would practically fall asleep again if she wasn't careful, so she'd retake her chance on speaking. "...Welcome back home Kotoko." she murmured.
"Thank you, Yuno." Kotoko added as she raised a hand, brushing it through the woman's hair before holding her tighter. Yuno pressed herself into Kotoko on instinct, burying herself in her chest before closing her eyes again. She can nap with Kotoko, and perhaps she can do whatever she needed to do after. Eat dinner... shower... sleep with Kotoko again.
Eventually, the two of course ended up falling asleep together. After a while, Kotoko opens her eyes and sits up before pressing a finger to Yuno's side, tapping her awake in the kindest way she could.
The minute Yuno did so, Kotoko stood up and allowed Yuno to sit up on the couch before walking to the dinner table, asking a question. "Did you set this up before I got home so me and you could share?"
Yuno nodded, shrugging.
"Yeah, but I believe it's rather cold now. Heat up and we can eat it!" She smiled, before sitting up and fixing her hair, adjusting her clothes and letting her ponytail fall down before standing up, following Kotoko to the kitchen as she waited.
One plate in after the other, she watched as they spun around inside the microwave for a brief few seconds before looking away, standing close enough to Kotoko that she could hear her breathing. It was a nice sound to listen to.
When the microwave beeped, Kotoko brought the plates back to the table before setting them down, sitting and waiting for Yuno to join her. The minute that Yuno did sit down however, Kotoko munched away at her plate of food, looking at Yuno briefly before returning to her food, after all, it was delicious, so no time to waste - even when it's microwaved warm food.
Yuno eventually asked the age-old question that most people asked their partners, or at least she assumes they'd ask their partners. "So? How was your day? Considering we both fell asleep the minute you came home; I didn't exactly have the chance to ask."
Kotoko simply shrugged. There's not exactly a word to describe it, is there? Well, there could be. But there isn't one in her mind, therefore she does not bother. "It was alright." That was the word she can use in replacement of whatever mysterious word she could use. And she's quite content with a simple word.
Yuno smiled. She always does around Kotoko.
"Then I'm glad it was alright." Yuno looked at the remaining bits of food on her plate as she ate, before looking at Kotoko and simply gazing at her for a while. Sometimes silence is a blessing. It's more intimate and calming than anything else, after all. Once they were both done, they simply decided on washing the dishes together.
Together. like they always should be.
