The Heroes Journey #0 - Out of Time

The World lies quietly, it would almost be peacefull. But there is no peace. Not here. The year is 2114, the empire of Viltrum took earth 90 years ago. It uprouted world governments throughout the world, and took over with an iron unforgiving fist. Every resistance that has attempted a coup has failed. The Viltrumites are the strongest beings in the galaxy, with super strength and inhuman ammounts of speed, attempting to fight one is a futile effort. Something many heroes of earth learned the hard way. However a small flame of hope is still aflame though dwindling quickly. In a labaratory far beneath the remains of the Statue of Liberty sits Forge, hard at work on a device. "Listen, this is a one way ticket." Bart Allen aka. Impulse stands behind him. "Yeah, yeah I know." Bart replies. He is no older then 14, though to call him a child would be innaccurate. He has been hardend by the truth of war. The child of heroes, legends that faded decades ago. He is earths only hope.
"Look Bart, Bishop or Cable could go in your place -"
"No - they need to stay with the resistance, in case - well in case this doesn't...."
"It'll work kid, it'll work."
Forge continues to tinker way.
"It has too." Forge says to himself in a hushed yet desperate tone

Forge screws on a last bolt onto a watch like device

"You ready kid?"
"I was born ready,"

Bart takes the device, as Bart is about to hit, there's a rumble. Bishop crashes through the ceiling, he hits the floor hard, both Forge and Bart hear the sound of bones cracking. They only hope Bishop is still breathing, Bishop's eyes widen as a the Viltrumite known as Anissa gracefully floats down to Bishop,

"You fight like an animal."

Anissa rests her foot on Bishops face

"And so you will die like one..."

"NO!" Impulse cries.

Forge puts his hand on Impulses shoulder

"Kid you need to hit that button, now!"

Impulse pressess the button,

"It - it's not working!"

Forge grabs a large rifle lying on a desk,

"It needs a power surge! You need to run, generate some speed force juice! Now - kid! No-"

Anissa's hand wraps around Forges neck, Impulse runs, phasing through the wall in the lab and out onto Liberty Island, water surrounds him. Bart gets into a running position and then takes off, he runs ontop of the water, Bart prays he can only keep this up...Bart repeatedly pressess the button on the watch to no result. Anissa busts through the lab and flies after Bart, despite Bart's immense speed, Anissa is able to quickly shrink the distance between them.

"I'll never understand why you humans are so resistant to the betterment of your people!"

Bart looks behind his shoulder. Anissa is now only a few feet away from him. Bart's hand sparks with electricty and the watch glows a faint orange. Bart pressess the button on the watche's face, a white light ingulfs him, and just like that Bart Allen disapears as if he never even existed. Anissa stops confused. She turns her head from side to side.

"Coward" Anissa mutters

The year is 2024, the earths inhabitance lives in blissful ignorance of the horrors that lie for them in the future. Luckily for them the future can be changed. Bart Allen materalizes in Times Square, Newtropolis. Bart looks around at the dazzling lights of the billboard signs, the people, the smiles, the laughter, the crying, the noise. Bart is from a world of ruin, this light- he couldn't even imagine it in his wildest dreams. Though suddenly his awe is disrupted as a boom echoes throughout the streets of Newtropolis City, Emil Blonsky aka the Abomination is flung into a crater in the ground. Bart zooms over to the creature at incromphensible speed, Bart looks over the Abomination. However the creature springs to life ready for a rematch with the red blur flying towards him, fists quickly pound the Abomination, draining his stamina until he falls to the ground unconsious. Two red boots land on the ground, a red cape blowing in the wind.

"You look lost."

Bart looks at the man's boots then up at his warm smiling face.

"I know you - "

"Most do." the kind man responds.

"Y-You're"

"Omni Man." the hero finishes,

Bart is paralyzed in fear,

"You're really him."

(It's him. He's the one who lead the Viltrumites here. He's the one who doomed our planet.) Bart thinks to himself...he doesn't let these words escape his mouth, otherwise his cover would be blown.

"Nice costume, the goggles look familliar," Omni Man chuckles

"Are you a fan of--"

INVINCBLE will appear in the next high stakes chapter of the Heroes Journey! As the Teen Titans face off against a deadly foe...The Lizard League! Stay tuned as the Heroes Journey begins...

Dick Grayson aka Nightwing!
Rachel Roth aka Raven!

and last but not least there newest recruit...

INVCINBLE flies through the skies of Newtropolis City, flipping and turning using his momentum to travel the skyline in seconds, he loops around the Statue of Liberty, tourists below yell out to him as there cameras flash off. INVINCIBLE waves down to the people below him, Invincible darts off into the sky, a giant T like Tower stands high above the ground on a small island off the coast of Newtropolis. Invincible lands on the roof of the tower, he stumbles as he lands.

"Woa-oh!"

Invincible falls face first on the hard industrial pavement making up the towers roof.

"Ow..."

Nightwing stands above him

"You're late." Nightwing says dryly.

"Yeah, yeah I know, sorry I - had a thing."

"What thing?"

"Angle Man was robbing a bank,"

Rex Splode makes an explosive entrance onto the roof as an explosion thrusts him upward.

"A Bank robbery isn't that Spider-Douches job?"

"Hey Rex..." Nightwing says,

"You two should get inside, we have a mission."

"Ahh a mission?!"

Nightwing opens up the roof access door

"Yes, Rex a mission."

Nightwing, Rex-Splode and Invincible walk down the stairs to the briefing room. The other members of the Teen Titans glance at the trio.

"Now that were all here, eleven minuets late I might add -"

Rex leans into Invincible's ear, and begins to whisper

"Jeez, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed - you think the orange chick must've stopped giving him free bl-"

Invincible elbows Rex

"Dude," Invincible responds.

"We have an ongoing situation, a highly escilating terf war between the Lizard League and Serpent Society."

Cyborg lets out a chuckle

"Sorry Dick but -- just imagining those two whacking the shit out of each other - I mean it's kinda funny."

"Look I know the a lot of you don't take either group very seriously, there usually not much of a threat - that is until recently."

Nightwing hits a button on the briefing room panel. A blueprint of a number of different weapons pops up on the screen.

"Somehow they've gotten there hands on Apokoliptan tech, real heavy duty stuff that could knock even Superman down a peg. Now our assingment is to find out where exactly their getting these weapons from. Not to engage in combat with them. I repeat do not engage in combat with members of either organization. Rex, Gar am I clear?"

"Crystal," Beast Boy replies.

"Good," Nightwing replies,

Nightwing continues "Intel says that there both groups are picking up weapon shipments tonight on opposite sides of Newtropolis. Now we'll be dividing into two groups. One will tail the Lizard League, the other the Serpent Society."

"Invincible, Rex-Splode, Monster Girl, Raven, KF, Troia" Your on the league

"Rudy, Kori, Vic, Eve, Kate and me will take the society."

Dick looks at his team.

"Meet here back at 8-"

Dick looks at Mark

"And don't be late."

Nightwing looks at his fellow Titans 

“Dismissed.”

Mark begins to walk away, Dick puts his hand on Marks shoulder

“You need something?”

“Mark, I’m putting you in charge of your team.”

“Well, I’m flattered but isn’t Troia a better choice I mean I’m a solo act I’m only in here because my dad wanted me too…” 

“Well you’re here, you’re a titan Mark. And believe it or not, I think you have what it takes to be a leader.”

Mark looks into Dicks eyes 

“The question is…do you believe that?”

Mark hesitates

Meanwhile at the Hall of Justice, Barry Allen aka The Flash (the one and only) sits down in the cafeteria to eat a burrito as he opens his mouth the alarm blares over the speakers. Barry closes his mouth and sets the burrito down

“Oh come on…” Barry mutters to himself, at unbelievable speeds Flash runs through the hall and out to its main entrance to confront the source of the alarm to which Barry’s surprise is a young boy. Bart Allen 14 year old time traveler stumbles closer to Barry *see last chapter to see how young Bart arrived in this time!*

Bart falls to the ground but is quickly caught by Barry,

“Kid you alright?!” Barry asks, urgently

“Omni Man…” Bart says as his voice fades.

“Don’t trust Omni Man…” Bart continues his voice continuing to weaken.

“Kid?”

Bart loses all consciousness.

A bag of fast food is shared on top of a promotional blimp by the two most powerful men on the planet possibly the galaxy, both from far off worlds Superman and Omni Man sit on the blimp.

“Hows Mark doing?”

“He’s learning, not as quickly as I had hoped but learning….”

“The name Invincible - did you come up with that?”

“I inspired it, but I didn’t choose it for him, believe me I think the name could use some workshopping.”

“What about Omni-Boy?”

“Please don’t make me laugh,”

Superman raises an eyebrow.

“Oh you’re serious?”

“Connor took the name Superboy...”

“You kryptonians aren’t the most creative are you?”

“I suppose not.”

Superman takes a bite of the burger.

“I have to ask, why’d you put Mark in the titans he was doing fine on his own, even gave Solomon Grundy a run for his money.”

“It’s strategic to have a Viltrumite on the major teams,”

Superman looks at Omni Man

“Strategic?”

Omni Man’s eyebrows furrow.

“In case of an invasion from space, we’ll be better prepared, if the league is on an off planet mission.”

“I suppose.”

Meanwhile in Titans Tower…Nightwing is hard at work in the gym. Running on the treadmill at a speed most wouldn’t be able to maintain for more than a couple of seconds. Nightwing turns up the speed more, but even Dick Grayson protege of Batman, has his limits. He tumbles off the treadmill, landing on his back. An orange hand is extended to Dicks aid, Dick takes it and pulls himself up. The beautiful alien princess Koriandr smiles at Dick

“You’re pushing yourself too far.” Kori says

“Not far enough.”

Dick brushes himself off

“If I’m going to lead this team then I need to hold my own. I mean I’m the only one on this team who doesn’t have some crazy superpower or a suit of armor or anything. And I’m not - I’m not Batman, maybe I don’t deserve to be leader…Troia has literal thousands of years of experience and —“

“Grayson, You’ve let us out of more nightmares then I care to count. I can’t think of anyone who deserves the title of leader more than you do.” Kori smiles at Dick. Dick looks at a clock on a wall “7:50. We should get ready for the mission.” Later that very night… Invincible flies with Rex in his arms “This is messed up man!” Rex says “When you grow wings you can fly yourself.” Mark replies Troia and Raven fly next to Invincible meanwhile Kid Flash runs with Monster Girl in her human form on her back “You know I gotta ask, we’re the teen titans and even you look a little young.” Wally says “*sigh* I’m cursed to get one week younger every time I transform, I’m actually nineteen-“

“Oh. Uhh sorry.” Wally says awkwardly.

“It’s not your fault.” Monster Girl replies.

“Right, yeah” Wally says

“So how does one go about getting cursed?” Wally asks,

“Enough questions.”

“Sorry.” Wally replies.

On a nearby rooftop, Invincible, Raven, Troia and Rex Splode land on the roof, Kid Flash quickly runs up the roof with Monster Girl on his back, Kid Flash gently sets down Monster Girl who proceeds to vomit on the ground.

“Eww.” Rex exclaims.

“Super speed sickness- I’m sorry, should’ve gone a little slower-“

“It’s fine-I’m fine” monster girl pants, a magical aura surrounds her as she becomes a giant green mass of muscle. Rexsplode looks down as the Lizard League enters the docks,

“Alright Wonder chick what’s the move?” Rex asks

“This is not my mission to lead.” Troia replies

“Oh right, sorry. Uhh hi - everyone, I’m leading this mission.”

“Oh great.” Rex says dryly.

“Well we’re not supposed to engage - so I guess we just wait for whoever’s dealing there weapons to show up?”

“So we just sit here? You wanna play charades to pass the —“ Rex looks at King Lizard. “The…uhm.” Flashes of an old world play in Rex’s mind, a bullet to the head. Dupli-Kate dead, not the teen titans the guardians of the globe…lost an arm…what’s happening?! Sweat drips down Rex’s face. “Kate…?” Rex asks.

“Uhh Rex are you alright?” Rex leaps off the roof and uses an explosion to propel himself towards the docks. “Rex!” Mark shouts. “You bastards shot me in the head!” The lizard league turns up to Rex as he propels towards them flying towards the ground, “Komodo…” A large hand wraps around Rex, catching him as he tries to attack, Rex tries to break free but to no result.

Monster Girl lands on the docks Followed by the other Titans. Raven aims her glowing purple hands at the Lizard League. “You’re outnumbered! Just let Rex go.” “What’s the fun in that?” King Lizard asks with a smile. Komodo throws Rex into some boxes and curls his hands into fists. Komodo let’s put a chuckle. Iguana extends her claws. Salamander raises his fists.

“Titans! Let’s beat the shit out of these losers!” Invincible flies towards King Lizard, King Lizard fires a blast from a large rifle, Mark is knocked to the ground. A hole burned in his suit. Komodo raises both of his fists over Marks head.

“Oh shit!” Komodo lowers the fists with all his might onto Marks head. Mark coughs up a tooth. Raven fires a blast a Komodo before Monster Girl tackles him and the two begin to fight. Raven fires another blast at Salamander who dodges it.

“Azarath mentros…” Salamander leaps into the air and grabs Raven by the ankles pulling her to the ground. Troia unsheathes her sword and swings at Iguana who quickly evades. King Lizard runs through the docks attempting to make an escape, Kid Flash cuts him off.

“You going somewhere?” Kid flash asks with a smirk. A large energy blast hits Wally in the back, Bruno Mannheim leader of Intergang steps off a boat holding a smoking rifle.

“You get yourself into some trouble?” Bruno asks smirking.

“Nothing a little inter-gang tech can’t handle.” Monster Girl punches Komodo in the face, Komodo spits out blood.

“Play times over kid! Hehe!” Komodo lands a devastating punch on Monster Girls chest, Monster Girl falls to the ground, surprised by the blow. Invincible flies into Komodo, Komodo flies into a shipping container putting a hole straight through it. Invincible helps up Monster Girl.

“You alright?” “He just knocked the wind out of me - I’m fine.” “Alright uhh…shit! What do we do?!” “I don’t know!” Monster Girl exclaims Invincible thinks for a second, “Alright grab Rex get him to safety the rest of will take care of the lizard league.” “Got it,” Monster Girl wraps her hands around Rex and leaps away.

Raven fires another blast at Salamander, Salamander falls to the ground unconscious. Troia punches Iguana in the face, Donna throws another punch but misses, iguana digs her claws deep into Donnas chest before pulling them out, Donna hits the ground bleeding. “Damn!” Donna yells out, Iguana flips away.

Invincible pulls up Troia, Komodo, King Lizard and Bruno Mannheim pile into a boat and close the door behind them. Raven looks as the boat roars to life, Raven attempts to fly and stop the boat in its tracks however a large weight attaches itself to her cloak, Komodo’s fist pulls on the sacred cloth of her cape, Komodo slams Raven into the ground knocking her out. Komodo grabs Salamanders unconscious body and jumps onto the roof of the boat the rest of the lizard league is escaping on. Invincible pulls Raven to her feet,

“The lizard league got away!” “It’s fine-“ “It’s not fine! Nightwing would never let this happen - your failure to lead us in battle nearly got us killed.” “I-I’m sorry, I fucked up.” Raven pulls up her hood. “Do you think you can get us out of here? Donna and Kid are hurt bad.” “Yeah I can get us out of here.” Raven raises her hands to the sky “Azarath mentros zenoth!” In a purple flash the four heroes are back in titans tower. Night wing looks at the four disappointed. “Cecil, Donna and Wally got hurt in the fight too.” Nightwing says to seemingly nobody. Cecil appears with a group of medics in a blue flash. “We got it Dick-“ Paramedics grab Wally and Donna and then teleport away in a blue flash but Cecil stays, “Mark.” Cecil says, “Fury we got the Titans, teleporting back to the hellicarier now,” Cecil disappears yet again in another blue flash. Monster Girl reverts back to her human form and slumps down on the couch. Raven marches off to her room. Dick sighs as he approaches Mark.

“You can save the speech, I know I fucked up.” Nightwing stares at Mark.

“I don’t care about that right now.” “What?”
“Mark - something…something weirds going on.”

“What are you talking about?”

THE WATCHTOWER

Superman stares at the Flash “He said that Omni Man and his people are going to take over the world?” “That’s what he said. He- he knows things about me Clark, I think he’s telling the truth, plus I took him to X-Mansion. Charles, Emma And Jean confirmed he was telling the truth or at least his perception of it, no mind control or illusions either.”

THE HELLICARIER Rex sits strapped into a bed in the medical wing. “Listen to me!” Nick Fury and Cecil Stedmen the co-heads of SHIELD stand over Rex

Rex collects himself “Just listen I know it sounds crazy more then crazy - like lock me up in Arkham crazy but…”

“We have to kill Omni Man.”

Chapter Text

His name is Nolan Grayson also known as Omni Man, he’s one of the most powerful superheroes on the planet, so why is he currently in a cell on an alien planet in vibranium handcuffs? Previously two heroes have accused Omni Man of having dark motives for his stay on Earth, the time traveling Impulse and Rex Splode who recently by some odd twist of fate had remembered a life from another world…

Despite the claimed violent nature of Nolan, he sits in the cell willingly and patiently awaiting his trial.

The planet of OA; birthplace of the green lanterns it is where all lanterns derive their power from and it all became possible because of the native Oans who allowed it to be. The Oans are seen as the ultimate law in the universe by most planets including earth. And so whatever the verdict… the heroes of earth will honor it

Superman and Mark Grayson sit outside of his cell

“This is insane you’re going to believe the word of some kid and Rex Splode over his.”

“Charles Xavier confirmed what Rex and Bart was saying was fact not fiction and he’s not a random kid, The Flash took a dna test. Barts his grandson, Mark.”

“I just- my dad wouldn’t do that.”

Superman rests his hand on Marks shoulder.

“It’s hard when the people we love hurt us, it always is. But it happens Mark.”

Mark approaches Omni Mans cell,

“Can I get some alone time?”

Superman nods and leaves the room

“Dad…I - I could bust you out if you wanted me to.”

“Don’t-what Superman told me is right, I am - was here to take over this planet, but your mother she changed that for me. I tried to bury those feelings but I couldn’t. I love you and your mother Mark, but me being here puts you at risk, if Viltrum figures out I haven’t conquered this world you and your mother will be the first they kill. And I-“

Omni Man sighs

“I can’t let that happen.”

“Dad why didn’t you tell me?! I could’ve helped or something, I mean all the heroes on earth combined we could take some stupid aliens!”

“No you couldn’t.”

“Dad…”

“Let this happen son, for all of our sakes.”

Mark looks down

“What am I going to do if they decide there guilty I can’t live without you Dad-“

“Mark you’ll be fine I mean there’s a reason your name is —“

INVINCIBLE walks out of the prison complex and sits next to Guy Gardner one of seven green lanterns of earth. Guy sticks a cigarette in his mouth.

“I don’t suppose you have a light?” Guy asks.

A green lighter comes out of Guys hand,

“Oh right,”

Guy lights his cigarette.

“You’re the Viltrumites kid right? They’re some tough sons of bitches.”

Mark rubs his face

“I’m sorry who are you?”

“Guy Gardner - the best green lantern!”

Guy Gardner was intact not the best green lantern, not even the best one from earth.

“Yeah sure, if you say so.”

Mark flies into the air, he flies across the brown sandy gray dunes of Oa, the dazzling emerald cities.

Mark lands on an emerald tower, Mark pulls off his mask as tears stream down his face. Meanwhile back at the prison, Rex Splode talks to Nick Fury and Cecil Stedman.

“Look, I already told you! I don’t know what happened but I got these memories in my head of Invincible and Omni Man fighting, Getting shot in the head by the Lizard Douche, and Dupli-Kate doing the deed with Immortal.”

“Okay, let’s stick to the relevant information Rex-“

“Sorry Cecil - oh that’s another thing, I thought you were the only boss of the GDA, not One eyed willy.”

“GDA? I work for Shield, Rex.”

“That’s the thing! I know that but it doesn’t feel right! Like Dupli-Kate doing the deed with the Immortal-“

“Look, kid!”

Nick Fury leans in

“Are you going to start taking this serious or do I have to make it serious?! Your memories are a piece of a larger puzzle, so I don’t care if I actually have to shoot you in the head to jog more of your memory but you better get your act together - because right now your head is the most important thing to me right now, so get it in the game!”

“Yes…sir,”

Nick leaves the room, Cecil looks at Rex.

“You heard what he said.” Cecil follows Nick out of the room.

Omni Man looks up from the dirty floor of his cell as Hal Jordan and John Stewart walk into the room.

“Please stand away from the door.”

Hal presses a button and the energy shield keeping Omni Man in his cell lowers. Hal and John point their rings at Omni Man, energy constructs leap from their rings wrapping around Nolan’s arms. Nolan walks with Hal and John as they walk out of the prison and out into the Oan court. A number of different alien races yell and scream at Omni Man

“Guilty! Guilty!” A utopan screams,

“Down with the Viltrumites!” A kree soldier adds

“Order! Order!” A guardian announces.

John and Hal push Omni Man forward.

“Nowl-Ahn also known as Nolan Grayson also known as Omni Man,”

A white blur whizzes past Invincible breaking his focus on the skyline, Invincible gets up and launches himself into the air

“Shit,” Invincible mutters.

Invincible flies after the White Blur

“You are being charged with conspiring with Viltrumites, breaking the Oan-Viltrum treaty and occupying a Oan Controlled Sector, and intent to invade, how do you plead.”

Omni Man looks to the floor and sighs and then he looks back up at the guardian

“I plead -“

There’s a crash, a fist wraps around the head of a guardian of the universe and crushed it with sheer night and force his green blood spilling onto her fist, Anissa the most mighty of the Viltrumites stands ready.

Pandemonium spreads through the mirrors as they get up and begin to flee.

“This is a mockery of Viltrumite Custom! Nowl-Ahn comes with his people for punishment.”

Guy Gardner lands in front of Anissa and aims his ring at her.

“Pack it up Girl Scout!”

Anissa uses the sheer force of her strength to swing her hand and chop Guys hand off, Guy falls to the floor

“Aggh!”

Omni Man steps back. Hal and John let the rope construct go, unbinding Omni Man. Rex Splode, Cecil and Nick Fury run out to find the chaos happening. Rex cracks his fingers.

“Alright time to kick some Viltrum—“

In a blue flash, Rex, Nick and Cecil are in the helicarier.

“Ass?”

“I told you, I need that head of yours.”

“You’re benching me?!”

“Until we extract all of your memories.”

“Uhh…do what to my memories?!”

Nick gives a grimacing look to Rex

Superman, Omni Man, Hal and John all fly towards Anissa, Conquest grabs Superman by the cape and flings him into the atmosphere, then proceeds to fly after him. Hal stops in his tracks

“Clark!”

Two fingers shoot through Hal’s eyes

“Agggghhh!” Hal screams out in agony, Anissa pulls her fingers from Hal’s face and curls them back into a fist, John fires blasts at Anissa but to no avail. Anissa flies over to John and uses both her hands to smack John in the sides of the head, a large ringing noise fills Johns ears as he falls to the ground. Omni Man glares at Anissa. Omni Man flies towards her. Omni Mans fist makes contact with Anissa’s face her body is hurled into the upper atmosphere.

Invincible lands in the ruin, Hal, John and Guy writhe around on the ground screaming.

“No, no, no…”

Superman throws a punch at Conquest, Conquest flies back then uses the built up momentum to shoot right back at Superman knocking him back into Oa. Superman lands in a sandy dune, the force of his landing creates a giant crater in the ground, Conquest falls onto Superman’s chest pushing him further into the Crater.

“You fight well for a Kryptonian!”

Superman attempts to get up,

Conquest stomps on Superman’s head

“But your people are still inferior, to us.”

Superman shoots heat vision beams into Conquests face,

“Agh!” Conquest stumbles back

“Strength wise that may be true, but it doesn’t take strength to win a fight, it takes stamina. And you’re about to find out I have a lot of that.”

Conquest rubs his eyes. Conquest snarls at Superman, he spits on the ground then gets ready to charge at Superman

Anissa (Comms) “We have Nowl-Ahn, stop toying with him!”

Conquest sends a furry of punches at Superman, Superman falls to the ground unconscious, Conquest flies into the air, Invincible sees him

Invincible launches himself towards Conquest, but as they get higher Invincible fails to remember that he needs to take on oxygen before entering the atmosphere he loses consciousness as he approaches Conquest, before long he starts to be pulled back down to Oa by gravity, he lands in front of San emerald city, sand is flung at the cities residents.

Invincible, Superman and three different green lanterns all lie across Oa defeated, some with scars that will never heal…

Guy Gardner looks at his bandaged up hand resting next to him in the hospital room. Hal sits in a hospital room his eyes gouged out, surrounded by friends and family. John Stewart places a hearing aid in his left ear, John looks at Hal in his hospital room

“Weird to think I’m the one who got it the best”

John adjusts his hearing aid. Thor stares at Hal in the hospital room

“Aye the Viltrumites have proven themselves indeed.”

“One tore up three lanterns, left two in critical condition and the other deaf in one ear.”

“That’s not even to mention Big Blue and getting his ass handed to him by a geriatric. Plus they took Omni Man- who might’ve actually known how to put a dent in those assholes.”

“What about Nolan’s son.”

“That kid?”

“He seemed to be just as surprised to figure out his dad was a traitor then we were.”

“How is he dealing with things?”

“I don’t know but I hope he lives up to the name because to survive another Viltrum attack we’re going to need someone who truly is —“

INVINICBLE sits on the roof of his house looking into the sun as it sits on the horizon, Debbie Grayson meanwhile cooks away, sad and angry and all sorts of other emotions brewing with in her. She closes her eyes trying to get away from a reality she refuses to acknowledge, there’s a knock at her door. Debbie opens the door revealing Clark Kent at her doorstep.

”Hey Debbie,”

”Clark, I’m not in the mood -“

”Debbie, I know that this has been tough,” 

“You dragged my son out into space to watch his father get kidnapped!”

”Debbie, we brought him to vouch for his father - we thought the trial would’ve gone smoother. The attack was an ambush, I’m so sorry, I could’ve. I could’ve done better I could’ve saved Nolan, I-I should’ve been stronger.”

“I’m sorry Clark - I, this is just so hard. Nolan never told me about Viltrum, this is so new and strange. And I just-this is so hard and confusing.”

Clark rests his hand on Debbie’s shoulder. 

“We’ll find him Debbie, we’ll get him back home,”

Debbie tears up. 

“No matter what it takes…”

Clark smiles at Debbie, 

“Where’s Mark?”

”The roof.” 

Mark continues to stare off into space. Superman floats up and joins him on the roof.

”Do you think he knew this was going to happen?”

Mark asks. Superman stands on the roof.

”What?” 

“That he was running out of time, he put me with the Titans for a reason. For some god damn reason…”

”He said it was strategic, incase the league was taken out of commission.”

”What?! Oh my god he knew, that asshole knew that the Viltrumites were on to him! And he -“

Mark tears up

”He didn’t even tell me!” 

“Nolan is a good man. I’m sure he had his reasons.”

Meanwhile in a Viltrum Prison. Anissa and Conquest hover over Nolan. 

“What do you have to say to yourself Nolan?”

”Earths strong points are the Justice League, and Avengers, The X-Men and Teen Titans are secondary issues, there also lots of independent heroes. The best course of action would be to launch various attacks, you and a handful of other Viltrumites take Newtropolis, I take the Avengers and my son kills the Teen Titans. We’d have to strike while the Justice League is out in space looking for me. Which knowing them shouldn’t be a long ways away.” 

“You’ve played the role of Viltrum defector well, how do we know your not playing us?”

”My terms are simple Anissa. I help you take the planet on my terms. Debbie and Mark remain unharmed,”

”Your pet will be unharmed.”

Nolan scowls, 

“She’s not a…fine, thank you for agreeing to my terms.”

”It better be worth it Nolan.”

“We can always change our mind about your pet if you act out of turn.”

Nolan looks down at the ground. 

THE WATCHTOWER 

Batman, Immortal, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Ben 10,000 sit around a table. 

“We can’t allocate that many recourses to the search for Omni-Man, as is our world is facing more threats now then it has in the last five years.”

Batman calmly states

”A conflict is brewing in Atlantis that could very well spill into the surface, Mars is asking for recourses due to the ongoing civil war destroying there planet, and we need to complete the negative zone prison.” 

“Batman speaks true. Many parties are calling for the leagues support.”

Diana comments. 

“We need to divide and conquer” The immortal replies. 

“You mean spread ourselves thin.” Ben interjects. 

“What’s to stop Vilgax or Darkseid or he’ll the Viltrumites from kicking us while we were down?” 

“Hey guys are we not going to talk about the time traveling elephant in the room? I mean come on we have a real advantage - why don’t we just Impulse about the time stream.” The Flash suggests

”We’re not sure if Bart is a trust worthy source.” Batman replies

“Why the hell not?”

“Fury and Stedman are doing some research it seems there’s some sort of multiverse convergence happening for all we know he’s from a completely different reality.” 

IN A SECRET LAB ON THE HELICARIER 

Impulse and Rex Splode sit next to each other in front of psychic, Professor X and scientist Mr.Fantastic 

“Well Charles there both definitely from this universe but that doesn’t excuse Rex’s false memories.”

”They aren’t false!”

Charles raises an eyebrow. 

“Also who the fuck is this kid?! Monster Girl, Rudy, how man Toddler Titans do we need?!” 

“Dude, do you ever just shut up?!” 

“The adults are talking-“ 

“Enough, both of you.” Commands Charles Xavier. 

“The information you proposed to us fundamentally changes everything we know about our world, Rex. As for Impulse, the information he’s given us, has run its course. You’ve already changed the time stream meaning that everything you now say about the future is uncertain and therefore useless. Bart Allen you are free to go.” Mr. Fantastic says. 

Bart gets up.

”So let me get this straight I went through, hell? Now I’m stranded in a time I know nothing about, all for you to say that I’m useless?!”

”Yes Bart, we have no further need for your knowledge.”

Bart storms out, 

“Haha!” 

Fantastic turns to Rex. 

“Unfortunately Rex, we’re going to need to go deeper into your mind, to extract all possible information.” 

“Oh. Uhh, okay?”

Charles raises his hand at Rex. He puts two fingers to his temple. 

“Is something supposed to be…”

Rex flinches, Charles’s eyes narrow. Rex falls to the ground unconscious. 

“Did you do it?”

”Indeed. His memories of the previous universe are now in my mind as well.” 

“We should report to the Illuminati before we hand this information to Cecil and Fury.”

”Agreed”

Mr. Fantastic looks at Charles,

”If my theory is true then it changes everything, on top of every problem we’re already having we don’t need to have a collapsing multiverse.” 

“Then let’s hope to god Reed Richards that for the first time in your life you are wrong.”
