Work Text:

Genba knocked on the door to Jou's house. He had been doing so for a few minutes now with no response. He knew Jou was home. It seemed he didn't care enough to go answer the door.

Genba sighed and then fished a key out of his pocket. He hadn't wanted to just walk in, but looks like Jou was leaving him no choice. He unlocked the door and entered. There were no signs of life in the area he could see around.

He went up to Jou's room, assuming that was the most likely place he would be. He could hear some quiet noise from the other side of the door. Genba hesitated. Did he knock or just enter? He should probably tell Jou he was here before surprising him too much, right?

Genba softly knocked on the door. "I'm coming in."

The noises stopped. Genba opened the door slowly. Jou was curled up on his bed, buried under the covers. Only a small bit of his hair was poking out of it. Genba frowned at the sight.

He knew Jou was taking it all hard, but seeing him this way still stung a lot. He wished there was a lot more they could do to make him feel better. Hopefully this little thing might help him even just a little bit.

"Hey." Genba said, moving to the bed and slowly moving the covers down so he could actually see Jou.

"Leave me alone." Jou whispered, refusing to look at Genba.

"I have something for you. To try and... cheer you up." Genba said. "Just give me a minute of your time."

Jou let out a small sigh and looked at Genba. His eyes were red, showing he had been crying not that long ago. He looked so defeated. Genba really didn't like seeing the normally hyper man so down like this.

"I know it isn't the same but..." Genba pulled out something from behind his back. "A little gift."

In his hands was a plushy resembling the monster that Jou had befriended. Jou's eyes widened as he stared at it. He hesitantly reached and grabbed it. He pulled it tightly against his body and started sobbing.

Genba knelt down beside the bed and hugged him. Jou returned the hug, still bawling his eyes out.

"Thank you..." He whispered. "I love it..."

"I'm glad. I'm sorry we couldn't have a better outcome but... I'm here to make you feel better however I can."

"Thank you..." Jou repeated.

Genba cracked a smile and pressed a kiss to his head. "Do you want me to leave now?"

Jou shook his head. "Stay... please."

"Anything for you."

Genba crawled into the bed with him, keeping him in a hug the entire time. Jou slowly stopped crying, but didn't loosen his grip on the plushy he now had.

"How did you get this...?" He asked quietly.

"Never underestimate the procurer." Genba replied, patting him on the head. "I have many connections. This was nothing. They had it ready a lot faster than I expected, actually."

"Tell them I'm really grateful."

"I will."
