Work Text:
Jacob was running as fast as he could. He had promised Bella that he would go cliff-diving with her but had been held up by the pack. He hoped she would wait for him, but he worried with her mental state she might not. Reaching the edge of the woods he stopped to shift back and get dressed. He doubted Bella would be happy if he walked out of the woods without his clothes. Walking out of the woods he was met with an empty cliff.
Looking around he didn't see how anywhere. She must be running late too, he thought. The sky was dark a storm brewing, and by the looks of it, it would be a bad one. Sitting on the edge of the cliff he wondered if maybe she had seen the storm coming in a went home. He would wait ten or so minutes before heading to her house.
Looking out over the sea he barely saw a red coat. He knew that coat. Bella! She must have already jumped. He kicked off the cliff jumping off. How long had she been underwater? Hitting the waves he searched for her. He had to come up for air twice before he saw her. Diving under the waves one more time he grabbed her arm and pulled her above the waves.
Swimming to the beach he shifted to let the pack know he needed help. Sam told him they would call for help. Shifting back he started CPR. Sam got there with Emily and they sent him home to get more clothes. Emily dunked into the water before rushing over to take over CPR. They would tell the ambulance that Bella and Emily hadn't seen the storm coming in and Emily had to pull her out of the waves when a large wave took her under.
Charlie called his father an hour later to tell him Bella was in the ER. He drove them to the hospital and together they waited for news. After an hour a doctor called Charlie to the back. Bella had flatlined. They hadn't been able to save her.
