Destinies can be deceiving

Summary:

There was a time when silence was not a word, for it had no contrast and an unawareness of disturbances. And that was the time of his awakening in the oldest of all ages, bound to the power bestowed upon him, destined to serve the greater gods in this world.
***
or a little ficlet written for Haladriel Week reflecting on their intriguing tale and Sauron's search for light.

Notes:

Inspired by cozy_ships wonderful drabbles, I figured that using less words can be beautiful too, although I'm more impressed now how you tell a story with only 100 words because I never am able to stick to it :D

Work Text:

There was a time when silence was not a word, for it had no contrast and an unawareness of disturbances. And that was the time of his awakening in the oldest of all ages, bound to the power bestowed upon him, destined to serve the greater gods in this world.

First Mairon, the glorious Maia, he became Sauron the damned, in the long desertion of light.

And she… she was the hero they had made her. A hero to fight against the darkness. But the paths of destinies can be deceiving. And so she fell and became a burden to the elves until she entered the darkness again, every fight keeping her close to the fire.

And he… he wasn't the evil or a servant of a forgotten age. He was the one to forge peace. An heir to the gods failing before him. He was rising from darkness into light with an ally in his battle.

Destinies can be deceiving. He wasn't the hero she sought, but in this new world, they would both be, bound with the finest of alloys. Heirs of an old age, heroes of a new peaceful era.

After an eternity of darkness, he would finally enter the light.

Notes:

This was a very spontaneous writing so I hope you liked this!! Ever time I write them I am afraid I do something wrong because I'm still new but I am so thankful for you all for encouraging me and showering me with all this love <333 It means so much to me! And Sauron is such an extremely fascinating character to me, so I'm always happy when I can write him.

And I looked up that Sauron is translated as "the abhorred", I just thought that in his own retelling of the story, he would chose a different meaning and especially in this context.
