Work Text:
Ena screamed as she ripped the paper out her sketchbook, joining the growing pile of crumpled paper in her trash can. She had already been stressed from pulling an all nighter the night before, scrambling to get her assignments done just to get another. She let the book fall in her lap as she pulled on her hair. Ena looked up to the ceiling as she grabbed her phone. She tried to not let the lack of notifications bother her (it did).
Ena scrolled on her Instagram feed before looking at the blank title in her music folder. ‘That’s right! I can go to SEKAI. It would be better than here anyways. I just hope Mafuyu won’t be there right now.” She signed as she thought about the girl. Ena didn’t hate her or anything, the opposite. She’s tried controlling her jealousy over her purple haired girl, but some of it still remains. She closed her eyes as she pressed on the icon. Feeling slightly lightheaded as she was transported to the SEKAI.
Her eyes remained closed as she was slightly shocked at the lack of noise. After all, shouldn’t the VIRTUAL SINGERS be there? Normally she would hear Luka and Meiko’s chatter but it was completely silent.
“Are you okay, Ena?” She felt herself jump at the question, eyes flying open as she looked where the noise came from. Her gaze fell to the floor, where she saw Kanade. The girl had papers scattered around her and a pencil in her hand, her mouth was slightly open in shock. Ena crossed her arms over her chest as she began, “K-kanade! You can’t just scare me like that. I didn’t even know you were here.” Ena felt her cheeks heat up in embarrassment as she looked at Kanade.
Kanade looked apologetically as she looked back at her paper. “Sorry, I thought you would be in class right now so I didn’t say anything on Nightcord.” She grabbed her pencil as she continued writing, her face turning focused as Kanade looked at the page. Ena took a seat next to her, looking at the paper.
“Eh? You’re already composing something new? We just came out with a new song, you have to learn to relax Kanade!” Even though Ena’s voice was loud, Kanade knew she had no ill intentions. She shook her head in disagreement, “No. I have to compose now that I have free time. I’ll take a break when I create something good.” She heard Ena sigh in disapproval.
The two sat in silence for a while, the only thing making noise was Kanade’s pen on the paper. Ena felt impressed as she watched the other girl compose. Unlike her, Kanade was calm and collected. When she didn’t like something, she’d fold the paper and grab another. There would be times where she would groan in disproval, but otherwise she was prefect. Ena felt her heart flutter every-time she watched Kanade’s reactions.
“You came for something, right?” Kanade asked. Ena flushed in embarrassment as she nodded. “Yeah. I was just stressed while drawing. It’s not that serious though!” Ena felt her heart beat faster as Kanade put the paper down and looked at her detrictly. “What were you stressing about in your drawing?” She questioned. “It was just- I couldn’t get the pose correctly.” Ena muttered quietly.
“I could be your model. I want to help you, Ena. Of course if you don’t want me to, I won’t force you.” Kanade’s voice was more firm and her regular tone. Ena moved her hand to fidget with her hair, playing with the end of the small braid. “That would be amazing, actually! Thank you, Kanade.”
Ena sat Kanade in front of her, sitting her on a chair. Ena had tied up Kanade’s hair with an extra rubber band she had. She directed the other girl to hold a serious expression as she began sketching on a canvas she had found.
Ena made sure to capture every part of Kanade the most she could. Her eyes soaking up every part of her as she sketched through. Sometimes she would feel anger boil in her but it quickly disappeared as she looked back at Kanade. Her heart heaved while drawing.
‘ Kanade is so beautiful. Uuuu… she’s so beautiful and pretty while sitting. She’s so nice for helping me out, even when she was busy.” Ena sat cross-legged as she continued to draw Kanade’s features. Feeling extremely happy.
Ena put her pencil down, looking back at Kanade with a small smile on her face. “I’m finished! Do you want to see it?” The other girl stood up and walked over to where she was, Ena gently handing her the canvas as she took it. A large smile taking over Kanade’s features as she looked over to Ena.
“It’s beautiful, Ena. You’re an amazing artist, at least I think so even if you don’t. I’m glad we have you.” She happily handed the canvas back to Ena, the girl was currently blushing furiously. “Y-you think so? Thank you. I think I still have a lot of improvement to do.” Ena stood up as she held tightly on the artwork.
Kanade nodded, “I think we all have improvement to do. But even then, your art always surprises me.” Ena’s face turned giddy, mouth twisting upwards happily. “Yeah! I also think you’re really good too. You got all of us together and made this unit. I think you’re really a-amazing and pretty!” She shouted, Ena couldn’t even recognize what she said till she heard Kanade make a confused noise.
“Pretty? You think I’m pretty..?” Kanade wasn’t angry, she knew she was “conventionally attractive” to an extent. Everytime she went out she would get managers from agencies asking if she was a model or had insisted that she at least tried. It was shocking to hear it from her own unit-mate though, with the exception of Mizuki.
Ena was red, face flushed more than it had ever been before. “I’m sorry! I never meant to say that, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable!” She pinched herself as she looked away, not being able to meet the other girl’s gaze.
Kanade shook her head and smiled. “It’s okay, you didn’t make me uncomfortable. I think you’re pretty too, Ena.” Kanade felt her heartbeat quicken, not like Ena’s though. Ena felt like she was gonna pass out, single-handedly the most prettiest girl she’d ever seen had called her pretty. She nodded as she looked back at Kanade, brown eyes shyly looking at blue ones.
Kanade took out her phone and looked at the time, eyes widening slightly. “It’s starting to get late, we should probably go before your family notices,” she said. If Ena played into her fantasies a little more she would say that her tone was slightly saddened. “Mhm. Let’s go now, I was able to finish my assignment and everything..♪” She held the canvas close to her chest.
Kanade let her hair down, handing back the hair tie to Ena. “I’m happy I was able to help you. We’ll talk again at 25:00, right?” Ena rolled the band back on her wrist, “Mhm. We’ll talk again at 25:00. And thank you again, Kanade.”
“Always. And I think you’re really pretty, Ena.” The brown haired girl was gonna say something before she saw Kanade vanish. Only slightly light particles being around where she was before now taking her place. She sighed angrily as she took out her phone. Ena was angry at herself but there was no point on doing anything about it now, next time when they meet up she’ll attempt to make her feelings to the white haired girl clear.
