Bleed For Me

Summary:

Australia loves his brother, he really does. (The others can burn for all he care.) His pain vanish when he spend time with his favourite sibling, all the attempt kidnappings, a face for the kingdom to 'protect', constant surveilance from his father's servants, his complicated feelings for the rest of the family, he doesn't think of it often when New Zealand's with him.

New Zealand is the only one keeping his sanity intact, he would die to ensure his brother's safety.

(Foreshadowing goes brrr)

Notes:

Tw's: Mention of killing, lots of family drama

Might make a part 2, continuing the angst (and leveling it up)

Work Text:

Australia watch as USA and Canada brawl it out on the battlefield, exchanging blows upon blows, their magic colliding with eachother. Lips pursed, eyes narrow in boredom and jealousy. Why is he the only family member cursed with blood healing? He always hoped that he was normal, normal enough for his father to recognize that he can fight for the throne too. He can fight! He knows that he can! But of course, what Britain says are absolute, and there's nothing that could break the man's resolve.

The orange haired kid stood up, behind him his two faithful(to his father) servants follow his every move, ready to take care of him if he ever bleed. Australia's blood is considered as sacred, a treasure to the kingdom, blessing from the high above. Which is bullshit! Aussie himself doesn't feel blessed, he felt worthless! He is not some sickly kid who needed servants everywhere he goes, power hungry greedy servants who wants his blood, it wont be the first time a servant tried to kidnap him for his healing blood. Between all of Britain's children, Australia is the most desirable of them all, he possess something that is so rare and unique, his blood alone can be sold at a high price.

What makes him so valuable? His unique magic, his blood. Australia's blood is still red, but one drop of the liquid can heal any wound, even the fatal ones. Just a small amount can heal an entire army of injured soldiers. Illness... those are up for debate. Thankfully, Britain have some sense and refuse to put Australia in experiments, no matter how much money is offered, land, and not even crowns, Britain still refuse, his son will not be treated like livestock, it is an insult to him and his second wife who he loves so dearly.

"Let's... go." He voiced his thoughts to the servants, turning his heel to exit the large room, they nodded, silently following him. Oh, how he hated his father's decision to ban him from training. It makes him feel... weak. But whatever, he's still ten, he has years to think about it, to mull over the future, on what to do, to be, and what will his next move are. Australia was thinking of opening a bakery, it's an impulsive thought, really.

But medical stuff irked him so badly, by now he memorized 101 ways to patch up the injured, illnesses and diseases names carved inside his brain from the extensive reading and studying his biological mother(France) forced upon him. Smiling sweetly as she say, "My baby boy... since the throne is off limits for you and your brother, you can be useful for the wounded. Our secret weapon, you are our hope." It make him sick to his stomach, he doesn't know why, but the way his mother talks scared him. What does she mean by secret weapon? Australia is no hope, he cannot be hoped upon, he is useless in war, he cant fight, cant(not allowed to) cook, what is he useful for?

USA... Canada... they are his step brothers, their mom are dead. She was the first queen, Britain's first wife. Australia and New Zealand are France's offspring. The first queen died from assassination, or, that's what Britain said to the public. Tho Aussie speculate that her death is no accident, the more he dig in about her and Britain's relationship, its evident that both are married through politics and not love.

Aussie loves digging for information and gossips, it gave him something fun to do. Also he found out that his biological mother conduct a public execution on a woman called Zamrud, calling her a servant for the dark, accusing her of many crimes. He suspected that some are not true, but it is not proven, at last, Zamrud was killed off by a chop to the head. A bit gruesome, if you ask him. But that was years ago, he wonders if that women has a family...

"Brother!!!" A blur of blue tackled the child, bringing them both to the floor, "I miss you!"

Ah... the light of his day, the sunshine to his void, his sole happiness, his brother, New Zealand. "Hello Kiwi, I miss you too." He smiled softly, what was once a soulless stare, morph into a kind one, "How is your training? Can't be that bad." He watch as baby brother babbles on and on about his day, his eight year old brother, who he loves more than his own life. New Z's laughter is what motivate him to wake up in the morning, ignoring the dread buried deep in his soul, warning him of something grave happening in the future. "That sounds fun brother, why don't we go to the garden? I heard the... gardener planted new flowers." Smiling fondly at Kiwi's eye sparkling, he let the toodler drag him out to the garden, his two servants following closely behind them. Oh, how irritating that they have company, but Aussie learn his lesson, keep his servants by his side or Britain will force him to stay on the bed for days on end, knowing how much he hated bedrest, he hates that he cant move freely.

"Brother, brother! Look! Red flowers!" Kiwi tug at Australia's shirt, finger pointing at the patch of newly planted roses. "Looks yummy... can I eat it?" Aussie burst out laughing at his brother's question, ruffling New Zealand's hair in adoration, "No you can't, they're not edible. But we could ask the chefs to prepare rose tea? Those ones are safe to eat."

The blue haired royalty thought about Australia's suggestion, shaking his head, "No, I don't want to burden the chefs..." Oh, how sweet his baby brother is! "You little bugger... they wont mind your request, they love you Kiwi! I am sure they would be delighted if you ask them nicely." And its the truth, between the Viva family, New Zealand is the favourite amongst the workers they enslaved hired. Its not that Australia is cruel, but he has  his father genes, carrying a negative aura around him, tho the king has better grip on his aura than Aussie is.

New Zealand is stubborn, refusing to ask for the chefs help, "No! I.. don't want to, hmm!" A sigh escaped Aussie's lip at his brother's antics, "Alright, alright, let's admire the gardeners hard work, shall we?" He decided that a distraction is a must, lest that Kiwi became angry at him. As adorable as his brother is, Australia cant handle New Z's negative emotions, it.... scared him in a way. The orange haired royalty doesn't want the youngest Viva to be as gloomy as him and Britain. Australia hates to admit it, but he inherited many traits from Britain, including personality, he heard from the old servants that the king acts similar to him in a way.

Both kids walked side by side through the massive garden, holding eachother's hand, content with the silence. Kiwi's huge smile is a plus, Australia will riot if anyone dare to rip that innocent beam.

'I will die for you.' a declaration left unsaid, New Z doesn't need to know what Aussie is thinking, its better that way. What he failed to consider, is the cruel fate awaits him in the future

"Brother, brother! Let's play~!" Australia is dragged to the backyard where a single swing is built. They are children of royalty, playing isn't really... a norm. At least, in USA, Canada, and Australia's book, they aren't allowed to have fun in their younger years, unlike Kiwi. All three were swarmed with studies, the twins had it worse, on top of the academics, they need to juggle through it with extensive training, be it from Britain or from other trainers. The stakes are high for the twins, each accomplishment is one step closet for the throne, Britain drilled the motivation deep in their skull, its kind of freaky in Aussie's opinion, but alas, he too, wants the throne. "Alright Kiwi, you can play first."

And so, a few hours have passed. They each took a turn on the swings, but its mostly Australia pushing New Zealand, not that the orange head minded, he loves the smile Kiwi has whenever Aussie push too fast. All is worth it.
