,,You barley recovered. You can’t take care of him,” Mars argued, his voice a mix of frustration and concern. ,,He is my son and I WILL take care of him!” Earth, his grip tightening around the little bundle in his arms. Luna slept peacefully, oblivious to the turmoil surrounding him.
,,Earth. Please. You’re in no condition, physically nor mentally, to take care of him,” Venus argued try to sound as calm as possible. He reached out a hand, but Earth recoiled slightly, protectively. ,,I will figure it out. Please I can’t... I can’t lose him as well,” Earth pleaded closing his eyes to stop the tears that were threatening to spill. The memory of losing Theia were still too fresh, too raw.
The other two looked worried at each other and Mars sighed and suggested: ,,Then let us help. At least until you have fully recovered.”
Earth hesitated for a moment, not sure how to respond yet. He looked down at a still sleeping Luna, so small and helpless, and realized he couldn’t do this alone if he wanted Luna to have a bright future. He was not in any shape to provide the care his son needed, not yet at least.
“Please, Earth. We only want what’s best for you and Luna,” Venus added, his hand finally resting gently on Earth’s arm.
After a long time, Earth nodded weakly: ,,Okay... okay, but promise me that no matter what happens you don’t take him away from me.” he said with a serious look. ,,Okay we won’t,” Venus said. ,,Promise it,” Earth retorted. ,,Okay we promise to not take him away from you,” Mars promised. After Mars said those words, Earth slightly relaxed and held Luna a bit looser.
Both Mars and Venus also relaxed, relief washing over them. “We’ll get through this together,” Mars said, his voice firm with determination and Venus nodded in agreement.
After a while of talking and playing cards, a yawn escaped Earths mouth. ,,You tired?” Mars asked softly. Earth nodded: ,,Yeah.” ,,Go to sleep,” Venus said. ,,What ~yawn~ what about Luna,” he questioned concerned. ,,We will take care of him. Take some rest.” Mars reassured. ,,But...” ,,No buts,” Mars said, ,,you need sleep and don’t worry nothing will happen to Luna. We promise.” Earth still looked a bit warry but gave in after another yawn. ,,Okay, but wake me up, if something happens,” Earth reluctantly gave Luna over to Mars, who held him gently.
While Earth went to sleep, Mars and Venus watched over Luna. At first, he was just sleeping and Mars and Venus sat down. They talked while Mars held the little moon. When he woke up, the two planets let him play with his Star-plushie in one of their laps. Occasionally Luna crawled from one planet to the other and settled there.
After a long while Earth came back from his nap. Luna immediately saw him and crawled over to his father. Earth picked him up and sat himself next to the other two planets. He put Luna on his lap and gave him his Star-plushie, that he lost when he crawled over. The small moon took it with a happy little laugh and went back to playing.
Mars and Venus looked fondly at the little family in front of them and hoped that nothing happens to them.
