Notes:
These are the notes I took about this story, and which I use to write the rest. So it's a bit messy and again I tried to make it readable.
Chapter Text
Kim Rok Soo was having a normal day at work, or as normal as possible in a country completely ravaged by giant monsters.
He was currently bringing his team back to their base to debrief on their very busy day: they had eradicated a group of monsters that were threatening the new city under construction.
He sighed with fatigue, exhausted and eager to get home. Unfortunately, as always, his colleagues tried to convince him to join their small group for a drink to celebrate the end of the mission and their survival.
He refused, of course, and no one seemed surprised. As team leader, he always had to report to his superiors. And that damn paperwork took forever.
---
It was almost midnight when he finished. He looked around: everything was quiet, a quiet he hadn't seen in a long time, but something was bothering him. He felt empty, and had for as long as he could remember. He had always had a feeling of unease, as if something was missing. He shook his head to stop thinking about stupid things.
With another sigh, he got up from his chair and stretched. He could finally go home. Maybe he could finish his book before he had to get up for work the next day. For once, he had managed to find a good book, but he had never had time to finish it.
He turned off the lights in his office and left the building.
---
Whatever happened between leaving work and getting home, he had no memory of it. He only knew that he was now in Cale Henituse's body. And that an old man, whom he knew to be an assassin, had just woken him up.
---
He then took a bath. Rok Soo had many questions, but fortunately, his body naturally followed the course of the day.
After being dressed by other butlers, he sat in the dining room with the rest of the Henituse family. He ate mechanically, paying no attention to anything or anyone. He was rather busy remembering the details of the book.
He was thinking back on the wars described in the novel when, suddenly, something changed around him. He was intrigued, almost alarmed, as if the whole world had become blurry and distorted. He remained motionless, not really knowing what to do. It took a while before a new setting appeared. His confusion grew when he saw Henituse County destroyed.
He was now standing in front of the ruined estate. He looked around a little and, apart from the change in environment, a kind of circle of mist appeared. It formed a perfect circle around him. He approached it and reached out his hand; the mist dissipated and reformed once his hand was withdrawn. He looked up at the rubble again and stepped out of the circle at the same time. To his surprise, he was able to move with ease, as if he were actually walking.
"What is this?" He froze when he saw the silhouette of Cale Henituse in the distance. He was crouching in the dust next to a corpse that looked like Deruth Henituse.
Faced with this image, a feeling of loss washed over him. He was almost certain it wasn't his. He was confused and uncomfortable, but he couldn't think about it for long. Everything stopped, and he finally returned to reality and lunchtime.
He thought it was over, but it wasn't. In addition to the strange feeling that still hadn't left him, he also felt a sudden fatigue. But that wasn't important. The only thing he could think about was, 'What the hell is going on?!' It seemed even stronger than his earthly ability to remember everything.

"Cale?" At Violan's voice, he looked up and saw that the others around the table were watching him. They seemed more or less concerned, only the count had a colder expression.
"Thanks for the meal, but I'm not very hungry." He got up from the table and went to his room, ignoring all the eyes on him.
---
He tried to sleep to forget his unease, but to no avail. He found it hard to imagine the existence of such a powerful force, capable of seeing the future. And perhaps even interacting with or changing it, he wasn't sure. But the vision he had had was so real, not to mention the fact that he had been able to move around freely. He shook his head. He couldn't rely on this unknown power, even if it seemed very useful, it was too dangerous. He had to find other ways to protect himself and become stronger to survive in this world.
Fortunately, he knew from the book that there were powers that could help him: the ancient powers. And he would start by recovering the one in the territory of Henituse.
Now that he had some kind of plan in place, his brain finally allowed him to rest and sleep for the rest of the day.
---
The next day. After a morning similar to yesterday's, he managed to go out alone to approach the tree described in the novel, but the strange power kicked in again.
He looked around, the circle of mist was there again and his surroundings had completely changed. The slums had disappeared, replaced by a stretch of green grass where a woman was lying.
"I'm hungry, do you have anything to eat?" He jumped at the question. He hadn't thought that the people in his visions could interact with him, let alone see him. He saw a little further away that he had passed the white circle, so that was what it was for.
He turned his attention back to the woman at his feet. She was rather thin, as if she hadn't eaten her fill in a long time. He looked at the bag of bread he had with him. He had brought it for the tree, but one or two missing loaves were certainly not a problem.
As he handed them to the woman, the landscape changed again. The tree in front of him was gone, and so was its gloomy surroundings.
'So these aren't just visions.' His thoughts returned as he felt a horrible headache coming on and smelled blood. It seemed to be coming from him. He lowered his head and stared unflinchingly at the blood falling on his clothes. It seemed to be coming from his nose.
He didn't have time to pay any more attention to it, as his vision darkened. And he lost consciousness.
When he woke up, he was still in the same place, although it was now dark. He thought back to what had just happened. It was new. Of course, every power has a downside, but the first time, he had only felt emotions that did not belong to him. And now there was pain, blood, and he had fainted. What had changed? If he had to guess, it was a matter of duration and actions. The longer the vision or scene, whatever he called it, lasted, the more severe the side effects were. The same was true whether he interacted with the people in his visions or not. He had to remember to take notes on his discoveries about his power, to try to understand it better.
He didn't have time to think about that now, he had to get back to the county and figure out how to change this mess.
---
He walked, his head full of questions, not noticing that he had arrived until he met Ron's gaze, fixed on the blood on his shirt.
"I tripped and fell," Cale explained without being asked. The butler seemed to accept this without really believing it, but asked no further questions. Ron took him to his room and ran him a bath. Besides the blood, he was also covered in dirt, probably from his impromptu nap.
---
The process took place without Cale showing the slightest sign of resistance, which disturbed Ron somewhat. His young master usually refused any help, but this time he said nothing, seeming lost in thought.
'How did the power activate? Maybe through touch? Hmm, that could make sense, but I didn't do anything near the tree.'
Normally, a power was controlled by the will of the one who possessed it. But he hadn't asked for anything or done anything, perhaps unconsciously? He didn't know. The only thing he knew was that he had to be careful to avoid another disaster.
First, he had to return the next day to the place where the tree was to try to repair the damage. All that remained was to figure out how to do it.
---
The next day, he returned to the same place. He sat down on the ground, paying no attention to his clothes, which would surely be stained green by the grass. Unlike before, when the place seemed cursed, it now looked like a place blessed by the gods. Even flowers grew there without any trouble, making it the only green space in the muddy slums.
He touched the ground, hoping for a reaction, but nothing happened.
He ended up lying down completely, his eyes fixed on the blue sky. He thought back to the legend of the tree's presence: an ancient priestess had starved to death in this place, and this tree was what remained of her resentment.
The view before him distorted at this thought, and the same scene replayed itself. But this time he didn't move and didn't give her anything, simply looking away. Even though this vision would surely haunt him for the rest of his life, he couldn't help himself. He needed this power to protect himself. He was selfish, he had known that for a long time, nothing new for him.
As expected, the tree quickly reappeared and a feeling of despair, in addition to hunger, overwhelmed him.
Chapter Text
He quickly took the old power and moved away from the tree, but despite that, the negative feelings had not gone away. Although they could ignore them, these feelings were not so unfamiliar to him when he lived as Kim Rok Soo.
---
Since that incident, the power had not manifested itself again. And now it was time for Choi Han to arrive in Henituse County. He had to try to convince him to stay and help him, and perhaps the Molan duo with him. He needed strong people to overcome the things that were going to happen. And if he could avoid being beaten to death, it would be doubly beneficial.
---
Cale picked up a bottle of wine and some food from one of the bars on his way. Choi Han must have just arrived after climbing over the city wall.
And he knew exactly where to find him thanks to the book.
---
As expected, Cale spotted Choi Han at the end of one of the alleys. The young man was covered in dirt and his clothes were torn. He couldn't help but wonder what had led him to be in such a state. But suddenly, his vision blurred and he saw the destruction of Harris Village appear before his eyes. A strong smell of fire and blood lingered in the air. He saw Choi Han surrounded by a pile of corpses turn toward him, the swordsman covered in blood with his sword in his hand. Strangely, his gaze turned toward him, and he didn't even remember moving out of the circle in this vision. He probably thought he was an assassin, but it all ended quickly, and he was back in the dirty alleyway.
Even after leaving the scene, Cale had to calm down a bit; he felt sick. This landscape, these feelings, and these smells reminded him so much of Earth. Fortunately or unfortunately, a sword held to his neck pulled him out of his thoughts.
"Who are you? Why did I see you that day?" The swordsman was very angry and seemed about to attack him.
"I don't know what you're talking about." He didn't know what else to say, even he couldn't explain how all this was possible.
"When they destroyed the village, you were watching, why didn't you do anything?!" The more he spoke, the more his anger rose and his aura manifested itself. If Cale didn't speak quickly, he would end up dead too.
"I can't do anything, I'm sorry. I don't understand how my power works-"
"What are you talking about?" He wasn't calmer, but at least he was listening.
"It seems like I have a power related to time, but I don't know how to control it." Cale sounded a bit desperate as he said this, which was somewhat true. This power allowed him to see things he didn't want to see, while he couldn't even act.
"How do I know you're telling the truth?"
Cale shrugged. "You don't. But I have no reason to lie to you." The 'if I don't want to be killed' part was almost implied, but Choi Han couldn't argue with that. The young man had seen what he was capable of when he was angry.
Choi Han was still suspicious, but he didn't sense any ill will coming from the man in front of him. He felt more pity if what he said was true. He withdrew his sword and put it back in its sheath.
Now that the swordsman had calmed down, Cale spoke again. "I am the son of the count who administers the territory where your village is located. I can introduce you to him, and he will be able to help you."
"Really?" Choi Han asked hesitantly.
"Yes, come with me." Cale started walking, followed by Choi Han. He was relieved that his encounter with Choi Han was different from the one in the book.
Choi Han saw the air distort around them. He was about to ask what was happening, but he could smell a faint scent of blood in the air. "What happened?" the swordsman asked, confused.
"That's what happens when my power activates, but it didn't work. Although I don't understand why." He seemed as confused as he was, so he let it go.
"What about the blood?"
"That's what seems to happen when I use my power multiple times." Cale felt tired, but he straightened up and continued walking, wiping the blood from his nose with the sleeve of his shirt.
The swordsman said nothing and followed him silently until they arrived near the manor. The guards moved away from the door at a single word from the young master.
Once inside, Cale asked another butler to take care of Choi Han.
An old man with a strong appearance arrived, unlike the weak person he had met. The young master then excused himself and left. For some unknown reason, Choi Han couldn't take his eyes off the young man's back until he disappeared from view.
---
He had spent the night on the estate after being offered a room by the young master. He received many sidelong glances when the old butler mentioned this, but a simple glare from him was enough to silence them. He found this very strange, but asked no questions. In the middle of the morning, someone came to fetch him so he could speak to the count. Despite his unease at meeting him, the man assured him that the villagers would receive a decent funeral. It was more than he had hoped for.
He asked to meet the young master one last time to thank him before leaving. Unfortunately, he couldn't stay long. He still had revenge to exact, and he seemed to have found others who shared his plans.
Arriving at the door of the young master Cale, as he had learned earlier, he knocked. And once permission was granted, he entered.
He could see him sitting on his bed. He was staring at the wall without moving or doing anything.
"I came to thank you for your help," Choi Han spoke, breaking the silence in the room.
Cale turned his gaze to him, seemed to make a decision about something, and finally spoke. "Are you planning to leave with Ron and Beacrox to get your revenge?"
Chapter Text
Choi Han frowned in confusion. "Why?"
"There will be an incident in the capital square." Cale spoke in an almost detached voice. “There will be an attack on the people during the king's birthday celebration. The perpetrators will be the same men from your village. If you come with me, you can get your revenge.”
He wanted to ask how he knew, but it was surely that strange power.
Choi Han looked at him strangely, not really knowing what to do or even if he truly believed him. But a certain doubt lingered in his mind, given what he had already seen. He neither accepted nor refused, but asked another question instead. "And what are you going to do about the other two? They already know I wanted to leave."
Cale thought for a few minutes before speaking again. "I'm going to tell them the truth about everything, it's simple."
He let the young master do as he wished, waiting to see what would happen.
Cale took a deep breath. He preferred to act now and get it over with quickly, even though he was a little afraid of Ron and Beacrox's reaction. He sighed, already wanting to go back to sleep.
"Ron." He said the name, and as if by magic, the door opened and the butler entered.
"Do you need anything, young master?"
"Can you go get Beacrox? I'd like us all to talk with our guest." He tried to sound authoritative so that he wouldn't ask any questions, but the butler stared at him, as if trying to understand something.
Even though the order was strange, Ron eventually obeyed, curious to know what his young master wanted.
---
Ron left and returned with his son. Both Molans had almost neutral expressions, if you ignored the suspicion clearly visible on Beacrox's face.
Cale lowered his eyes, not wanting to meet their gaze any longer. He was still in bed. He wanted to be at least comfortable for this difficult discussion. "I know what you were planning to do with Choi Han."
"What do you mean?" Ron asked, uncertain.
"You want to leave to get revenge. I know what happened to you before."
"What exactly do you know?" Ron wasn’t sure what his young master meant, but even with doubt, he didn’t want to reveal himself if he wasn’t sure. And above all, how would he have found out?
"Everything." Cale became uncomfortable. He could feel the murderous intentions of the two Molans rising.
"How?!"
He still hadn't looked up, but he could sense that Beacrox was angry and had moved closer to him. Cale quickly continued. "It's a little more complicated-"
"You're with them?!" Even though he was furious, Beacrox wasn't really surprised. It was typical behavior for a trashy young master.
"What? No!" He looked up to meet Beacrox's gaze and immediately regretted it. But he wasn't going to let himself be insulted.
"Stop lying, you said it yourself!" Beacrox was getting agitated and looked ready to pounce on the young master.
Choi Han stepped between them. "At least let him speak."
Beacrox gave the swordsman a deadly look, but their argument ended when something strange happened around them.
An audible sigh made them look at the young man on the bed. "Don't move and don't do anything." He took a deep breath and began to think about the incident he had read about in the book: the fall of the Molan family, the death of Ron's wife, the presence of the people from the organization. Cale had understood one aspect of his power: it was activated by his thoughts. This made it all the more unstable, even though he could also use it.
"What?" Beacrox's anger hadn't disappeared, but it had been replaced by confusion.
"That's why I know everything about you." This time it was Cale's turn to glare at them.
But no one saw it, they were all absorbed by the scene unfolding before them. They quickly understood where they were. They saw a man who looked like Ron, but younger, running with a child in his arms. He was followed by a young woman with a long sword in her hand.
"What is this?" Ron's voice sounded a little hoarse and broken. It had been so long since he had seen her.
Choi Han said nothing, it wasn't his story, but such a display of power was incredible to behold.
"It's your past. I have a power related to time that allows me, even if I don't want to, to see elements of the past and the future. That's why you should be careful and not go outside-"
Cale couldn't finish his explanation. He could see Beacrox stepping out of the misty circle.
---
"Mom." Beacrox, seeing his mother, couldn't help but run to her and hug her. After so many years, he had almost forgotten her face. In the joy of their reunion, he hadn't even noticed the shocked expression on the young woman's face.
"Who are you?" She tried to pull away from the strange stranger, but he wouldn't let go.
Young Ron, in the scene, turned around and saw a man holding his wife back. He felt a strange sensation when he saw him, but what interested him more was the man approaching behind them with a sword.
---
The Ron of the present was about to run to his son to save him, but he didn't have time. The scene ended with the sound of a blade and a baby's cry. They were all back in the room, even Beacrox. His body was sprawled on the floor and covered in blood.
Ron immediately went to his son and leaned over his body confirm absence of breathing and pulse
The room had fallen silent, except for labored breathing. Cale was exhausted, feeling his body about to pass out. Blood was already flowing from his nose and falling onto the bed covers.
"Can you bring him back?" Ron approached Cale. He looked crazy and desperate. He couldn't lose his son, not like this.
"That's why I told him not to do anything." It may have been a cold thing to say to a man who had just lost his son before his eyes. But he no longer had the strength to be afraid.
"Can you do something?" Ron ignored the remark, ready to beg his young master to bring.
Cale closed his eyes and tried again as before, but he found it difficult to stay focused. He no longer had the energy, and blood continued to flow from his nose.
"Is this the effect the power has on you?" Ron already understood, but needed confirmation. A certain feeling of guilt washed over him.
Cale simply nodded, that was all he could do at this point.
The scene repeated itself, but they saw Beacrox suddenly appear and start running toward the young woman as before. Except this time Ron was ready, he intercepted his son, and brought him back to them.
"Let me go!" Of course, he struggled to break free, but Ron wouldn't let him.
Fortunately, the scene quickly came to an end.
"Why didn't you let me see her?!" Beacrox was angry with his father, but the old man wouldn't let go of him.
Ron tried to calm his son down, explaining everything to him. Once Beacrox had calmed down a little, he was able to let him go.
They needed time to recover from everything they had just seen. Especially Beacrox, but Ron still had a duty to his young master who had come to save his son.
Their eyes finally fell on the unconscious young master lying on the bed. He was pale and still had blood on his face.
Chapter Text
"Do you think he's okay?" Choi Han asked anxiously, but Ron and Beacrox remained silent. Neither of them knew, after all.
They almost jumped when someone knocked on the door. Ron went to open it to see who it was. Fortunately, it was only a servant, who had come to deliver a message from the count to the young master: the count and his family wanted to have lunch with him.
They all exchanged glances, they hadn't noticed how much time had passed during their conversation.
Ron sent the man away and ordered Choi Han to watch over Cale. Beacrox also left, even though he didn't want to, as he still had a meal to prepare for the Henituse family.
As for Ron, he went to the count's office, knocked on the door, and entered when he was given permission.
"Hello, I apologize for disturbing you, but the young master will not be able to join you. He is unwell." Ron wasn't sure if it was a good idea to mention the young master's condition, but he could bring someone in with the count's permission.
"Does he need a doctor?" Deruth spoke without looking up.
Ron didn't need to think to answer the question. "I think it would indeed be wise to do so." The Count didn't seem to react to his words at all.
"Really?" He didn't really pay attention to it. It was probably just a hangover, as usual.
"Yes, sir. The young master really doesn't seem well."
Deruth seemed to think before continuing. "Do as you wish, although I'm sure it's nothing."
"Very well, my lord." Ron bowed politely to Deruth and returned to his young master, accompanied this time by a doctor.
The doctor quickly went to examine the unconscious young man. His report was brief: the young master was suffering from exhaustion, but he was fine despite the presence of blood. A simple rest would be enough to get him back on his feet.
The doctor left on that note. Ron, under Choi Han's watchful eye, took care of Cale and cleaned up the blood.
---
Cale remained unconscious for two whole days. And during those two days, the two Molans and Choi Han watched over him. Even the countess and young master Basen, who had heard about Cale's condition, came to ask about him.
---
When Cale regained consciousness, he was confused. He didn't have time to wake up completely before a sudden voice made him jump. “Are you feeling better, young master?” Of course, the first thing he saw was his scary butler.
"Yes." Strangely enough, that was indeed the case. He no longer felt any pain, nor did he feel anything strange. Well, that was good. "How long was I unconscious?"
"Two days. Would you like something to eat?"
After two days without food, he was indeed hungry. He nodded, and the butler left to fetch some food.
---
"Are you sure you're okay?"
This time, Cale really jumped at Choi Han's sudden voice. The man had been standing silently in the corner waiting for the butler to leave.
Cale nodded and said nothing else. He knew he had to have a conversation with them, but please let him catch his breath a little.
Choi Han, completely unaware of his thoughts, spoke again. "I never responded to your request. I don't know about the others, but I have decided to stay here. I will ask to meet with the count again to be hired as your guard. To thank you for your help and to hopefully get my revenge."
He nodded once more. If that was his choice, he wasn't going to argue with him, and Choi Han's help would be very useful in the future.
Neither of them spoke again, and an almost comfortable silence settled over the room.
---
Ron, who had left, entered his son's kitchen. He saw that Beacrox was a little distracted; he hadn't even heard him come in.
“Beacrox.” Ron called out to him, but he didn't respond. He approached and placed a hand on his shoulder. Only now that he was so close to him did he notice that his hands were shaking slightly as he cut the vegetables.
“Do you want to talk about it?” They weren't used to this kind of conversation, but he understood how much of a shock what they had experienced had been for Beacrox.
He saw his son shake his head, and they said no more.
Ron simply waited for him to finish preparing the meal. After waiting a few minutes, he left with his young master's meal, not without exchanging a final glance with his son. He then went back up to the bedroom.
---
Once there, the butler placed the meal tray on the table in the room. Cale got up and sat down.
"Did anything happen while I was gone?" Cale asked, but he really hoped the answer was no. He already had enough to deal with as it was.
"No. I just had to inform the Count that you were ill. He called a doctor who found nothing wrong and simply said you were exhausted."
"Well, that's good, I guess. What did the Count say about it?"
Ron detected no expectation in the young master's words, as if he were already resigned. After so many years of ignorance, it was not very surprising.
"He asked that we take care of you." Which was not untrue, he was the one who had summoned the doctor.
Cale said nothing and continued eating. He had satisfied that it had turned out that way. It was easier for him if the Count didn't pay attention to him as in the original story.
After his meal, he stayed in his room. He had decided to laze for the rest of the day. He had already told Ron and Choi Han that their conversation could take place tomorrow.
Choi Han was chased out of his room by his butler, and Cale was able to return peacefully to his bed.
---
That same afternoon, the sound of a butler knocking on his door woke him up.
With a sigh, Cale got up to see who was disturbing him. He opened his door to see a young servant.
"The Count asks if you are well enough to join them for dinner tonight. "
"Tell the Count I'll be there."
After the man was dismissed, Cale returned to bed.
Fine, he could show his family that he was fine so they wouldn't worry and try to figure out the reason for his condition. He preferred to keep it a secret for now. Moreover, he had to convince his father to send him to the capital in Basen's place for the king's birthday.
---
Dinner time quickly arrived, and after getting ready to look presentable, Cale joined everyone in the large dining room.
All eyes were on him as he walked through the doors. He ignored them and took his seat at the table.
Everything was silent except for the sound of cutlery.
"How are you?" It was Countess Violan who broke the silence. Ron had already told her that Cale was feeling better, but she preferred to hear it from him. She kept her gaze fixed on the young man until she finally got an answer.
"I'm better, thank you," Cale replied indifferently, as always, but he could see a shadow of concern in Violan's eyes, as well as in those of the other two young masters.
"That's good, I'm relieved." And she really seemed to be.
Cale was a little intrigued and confused by this change. In the original story, the countess always seemed indifferent to the treatment of the original Cale. He almost expected a new scene to appear, but nothing did, and he really didn't understand.
---
In the original story, I included a power note for Cale. This time, it's more complete and even includes a few spoilers, since the basic story was more complete. Should I give it to you too?
Chapter Text
Dinner resumed in the same silence, perhaps a little less tense than before.
"Father, I have a request." Cale addressed the count, who didn't even look at him before responding.
"Do you need money?"
"No, I would like to attend the event in the capital."
Deruth finally looked at his son after this strange request. "Why do you want to do that?" He didn't understand. Cale had always hated these meetings and caused trouble if he was forced to attend. He found his son too quiet lately, perhaps he was just waiting for the right opportunity.
"It's been a long time since I left the county, and I would like to do it now, and this meeting would be the right opportunity."
Deruth did not believe Cale at all. "Basen has already been announced as the representative, we cannot change that."
Everyone in the room knew that was not true. The king had requested the presence of all the heirs of the noble families of Roan, but the Henituse family had no official heir. Young Master Cale had been passed over in favor of Young Master Basen, but that was just a rumor. The count had not said anything officially, and no reply had been sent upon receipt of the letter regarding the party.
"Perhaps they could go together, I don't think it would be a problem." Violan strangely helped Cale.
"Maybe they could go together, I don't think it would be a problem." Violan strangely helped Cale.
The count seemed reluctant, but if Basen was there, maybe Cale would behave normally so as not to embarrass his brother.
"Is that okay with you, Basen?" Deruth asked. Dealing with Cale was sometimes very difficult.
"Sure!" To his surprise, Basen seemed enthusiastic, and even a slight smile appeared on his wife's face.
Well, for once, Deruth and Cale had the same thoughts: there was something strange here.
Once the meal was over, Cale returned to his room, now that he had obtained the Count's permission. He had to come up with a plan to save the people in the square. According to the novel, the attack had been a real bloodbath. Now that he thought about it, Basen must also be in that square. The novel did not detail who had died or who had been injured. What state was the young master in?
As if in answer to his question, his room disappeared and he found himself in the square, a few steps away from Basen. The young man's body was covered in blood and lying unconscious on the cobblestones. It was impossible to tell if he was still alive. He didn't have time to approach him before the vision ended and he was back in his room.
He had already made the decision to intervene in the attack because he couldn't ignore knowledge that would allow him to save people. But this vision reinforced his decision; he couldn't let the young master die for his lazy lifestyle.
He just had to think of a plan during the trip. For now, he was going to enjoy his free time doing nothing. He didn't know why, but he felt that the trip was going to be exhausting.
Unfortunately, before that, he had one more tiring thing to do.
---
The next morning, Cale was awakened by Ron entering his room. After his butler dressed him, he left and returned with Beacrox and Choi Han.
Cale sighed inwardly, it was too early.
Once everyone had entered, Beacrox immediately began to speak. "Why did you show us... that?" Fortunately, there was no anger in his words.
"It wasn't intentional. I can't control it." This time, Cale was not going to apologize. Beacrox had provoked the incident himself, and if it hadn't happened, he might even have hit him.
"I see... but you still wanted to talk to us at that moment, why?"
"The incident I showed you isn't the only thing I saw." That wasn't true, but he could use the information he had obtained from the book. "As I already told Choi Han, there will be a terrorist attack in the capital very soon, and the people who destroyed your house will be responsible."
Cale could sense a thirst for blood in the room, and he was relieved that it wasn't directed at him. "For now, I can't tell you any more, but I might see other things. My power will be very useful to you in finding them easily. That's why I decided to talk to you. You can accompany me and get your revenge as you originally wanted." And to help him survive in this world, although he wouldn't say it out loud.
The anger, though still present on the Molans' side, was mixed with doubt. They had promised themselves not to distrust the young master anymore, but there was still one thing they didn't understand. "Why... would someone like you want to help us?" Beacrox's question was legitimate. Even if it annoyed Cale somewhat for a reason he himself did not understand. Of course, he was still a trashy person to them.
"Do I need a reason? It's a simple offer I'm making to you, it's up to you whether you take it or not." Perhaps his voice had more bite than necessary, but he didn't care at all.
Sensing the tension in the room, Choi Han spoke up. "Well, you already know about me, I'll follow you."
Ron and Beacrox didn't need to think about it for long, they could understand the young master's motivations later. "Us too."
Cale simply nodded, and their conversation ended there. He sighed with relief as he watched them leave. Even though he was sure it wouldn't be the last time.
---
Two days later, everyone was ready to leave. Basen and Cale said goodbye to their parents before climbing into the carriage together. Of course, there were knights with them, in addition to the butlers, Ron, Beacrox, and Choi Han.
Cale looked at the landscape. The journey was fairly calm for the moment, except for the bandits who were quickly eliminated by Choi Han.
Now there should be no more obstacles, well, almost... Cale thought about what was coming next, namely the black dragon.
He froze, his power was about to manifest itself.
Unfortunately, he was with Basen and didn't know if his brother would be involved in all this. It had already happened with Ron, Beacrox, and Choi Han, but that was part of their history. Or almost, Choi Han had nothing to do with the Molans' past... so he had no way of knowing. He finally put his thoughts aside and contented himself with hoping.
Chapter Text
He noticed that the landscape and the carriage had disappeared, replaced by a dark place that resembled a cave. It contained a large metal cage.
"Where are we?!" Cale turned his head to see Basen looking at him with fear.
Clearly, he had been unlucky.
"I don’t know, but come here and don’t touch anything." Basen approached Cale and did as he said.
The scene began to come to life. They saw a small black dragon crouching in a corner, and the silhouette of a well-known noble approached the creature.
"Still not broken, huh? Well, I’ve had a terrible day." Venion's smile was both cruel and joyful. Cale saw before Basen what the nobleman was holding in his hand: a whip. He quickly covered his brother's eyes.
Cale could feel Basen flinch at the sound of blows and broken flesh. Basen didn't need to see the situation to understand, and he thanked his brother for sparing him.
The longer the scene lasted, the more Cale felt a deep sense of despair wash over him. He looked into the dragon's eyes, and even though his feelings were dark, there was still a certain fierceness and determination there. It was not for nothing that dragons were the strongest beings in this world.
After several minutes of enduring this horrible sight, the scene finally ended, and they were back in the carriage.
"What happened?!" Cale saw a pale Basen standing before him. Of course he would be shocked, because of all the things they had seen, this was a scene of torture.
"Would you believe me if I told you that nothing happened and that it was all in your imagination?"
"No." Basen looked at him with a judgmental look.
"Okay." Cale sighed, feeling like he had been repeating himself constantly lately. "It's a power I have, and you just saw something from the past of a black dragon, it seems. He didn't try to lie; he couldn't think of anything convincing when the truth was already unbelievable.
"Like a vision?" He asked, intrigued.
"No, it's the real past. You could have changed something by touching anything. And influencing the future is very complicated, but-" Cale didn't finish his sentence, he clenched his teeth, trying not to groan. This was new, he had tried to ignore it at first, but the pain was gradually increasing. It wasn't just a simple headache like the other times, but a sharp pain that radiated throughout his body.
"What's going on?" Basen saw his brother suddenly stiffen.
"I don't know..." Really. He quickly searched his memories, the only thing he was sure of was that it came from his power. Now that he remembered the other scenes he had seen, the people were either already dead, or the vision ended before anything happened. He hadn't been able to feel anything physical.
'Damn it!' He cursed inwardly because of the pain and because the negative effects of his power were becoming more and more pronounced, which was very annoying.
"Cale?" Basen began to panic, not knowing what to do to help his brother. His lack of response made him panic even more. He looked around, searching for something or someone who could help him. He ended up knocking on the small window of the carriage, trying to get the attention of Cale's butler.
"Do you need anything?" Ron, as always, responded quickly.
"My brother isn't feeling well."
Ron then noticed that his young master did indeed look paler. “What happened?”
"I... I..." Basen looked at Ron, searching for something. He didn't know if he should keep it a secret. Needless to say, he ended up stumbling over his words.
"He knows..." Cale spoke up, helping Basen, who still didn't know what to say.
He nodded and immediately explained everything to the butler.
"How is he?" Ron thought that perhaps it was an effect of his young master's power.
"Cale?" Basen turned to his brother to ask him. He could see that he was in pain, but maybe there was more to it than that.
"It's nothing... I'm fine..."
Cale couldn't see him, but Basen and Ron frowned at the obvious lie.
"Maybe we should take a break? We could find a doctor in a nearby village."
Cale could hear the tremor in Basen's voice. He tried to speak, but was completely ignored. He thought they were overreacting; whatever side effect it was, it couldn't be cured anyway. Just let him suffer in a corner and ignore him.
"That's not necessary..." Cale said, but his slumped posture didn't help matters.
"I think you're right, young master. We can take care of him more easily."
Cale didn't try to argue anymore, it wasn't like they were going to listen to him anyway.
Ron stopped the carriage and got out. He went to inform everyone that they were going to take a break because one of the young masters was sick.
He ended up joining the two young masters in the carriage. Choi Han, realizing that there was a problem, tried to get in as well, but he received a dirty look from the old man and stayed quietly outside.
Cale was silent now, on the verge of fainting from pain.
Notes:
Just a heads up I should have said at the beginning, but Deruth is going to be a jerk throughout this story thing.
Chapter Text
Cale has no real control when he uses it. He can only wait for the scene to end or for him to collapse from exhaustion. The power is activated by his thoughts. Hence its unpredictability, as no one can completely control their thoughts.
Consequences or effects:
*In all cases, Cale will take on the feelings and pain of the people present in the scenes.
*If used more than twice in the same day, the side effects will be stronger. Blood/Fainting.
Level 1: Short vision, no interaction. Physical effects: mild fatigue.
Level 2: Longer vision, no interaction. Physical effects: moderate fatigue, nosebleeds, headaches.
Level 3: Vision with minor interaction. Physical effects: fainting (a few hours to 1 day), nosebleeds.
Level 4: Vision with major change. Physical effects: fainting (1 day to several days), nosebleeds.
Level 5: *** To be seen in future chapters.
Past/future vision or possible future.
A future that has already been changed cannot be seen. For example: the meeting between Cale Original and Choi Han. It is no longer a possible past or future, but simply words in a book.
Impact of past visions on the future or present, “butterfly effect.”
A circle of mist appears around Cale or the people with him in each vision or scene. This circle allows the people inside it to remain invisible to those present in the scenes. Leaving this space will allow you to interact with the vision.
The people caught up in visions are usually random.

I don't think I've forgotten anything, but if you have any questions, I'll answer them all!
