Work Text:

Sirius was like a song: beautiful, colorful, and gracious.

His long black hair, his animal grace.

He sat on the couch, his guitar laying lazily on his lap, a cigarette hanging from his lips, and the moonlight illuminating his soft yet defined face.

The boy in the bright blue jeans.

After a while, his filigree fingers stopped strumming the strings of his ebony guitar. Remus didn’t notice the confused look on his face, how his mouth twitched upwards into a knowing smile as Sirius caught him staring. He was too focused on the light freckle under his left eye, the dark long lashes that illuminated Sirius' ice-blue irises, and the eyeliner that brought it all together to a view that made people take a second look when he strutted through the city.

People stared at the makeup on his face.

"You know that band practice only makes sense when everyone is playing their instruments, right?" Sirius' voice, spoken through a knowing smile, brought Remus back to reality. "Um… well, I thought as you always call yourself the 'brightest star' of the Marauders, I would let you have the spotlight for a while. You know…" Remus tried to save his face as a deep tinted red started to spread across his cheeks. "Well, finally someone acknowledges it!" Sirius laughed. "Moony! Stop it! His ego is already big enough to fill the entire stage without you egging him on," James interrupted the two of them. "Oh come on Prongs, we all know it is true! I am a masterpiece and a brilliant musician!" James sighed and threw his drumstick in Sirius' direction. "See what you've done, Moony?" "Can we please change the topic and start playing again?" "You started it!" James retorted, throwing his second stick and hitting Remus right on his forehead. Sirius began to cackle at the interaction between the two of them, and Remus instantly forgot what their spat was about. His focus went into tunnel vision, watching Sirius' mouth and the sharp breaths he was drawing in. Moving his chest, which was covered in fine tattoos, as air filled his lungs. After Sirius recovered from his laughing fit, he picked up the drumsticks and tossed them back to James. "Okay guys, let's start again where we left off."

'Lady Stardust sang his songs of darkness and disgrace And he was alright, the band was altogether Yes, he was alright, the song went on forever Yes, he was awful nice Really quite out of sight And he sang all night long'
