Work Text:

Stephen scrubbed a tired hand down his face. His visions were getting worse.

For around a month, he'd been seeing a floating bald lady around the apartment. Sometimes she would sit at his desk, others she would watch him shower. Even when she wasn’t visible, he could feel her stare.

He freaked out at first, but he learned to ignore her.

Then a few days ago, she touched him.

And he felt it.

He got up from his desk as her figure dissipated into some vast nothingness.

“JARVIS, call Tony.” Stephen asked, looking to the ceiling.

“Of course, doctor.” The call rang out for a few minutes while Stephen paced the room.

“Hey doc, kinda busy right now, is it urgent?” Tony said, offhandedly. Stephen sighed at his tone, dreading this conversation.

“It's getting worse,Tony,” he said, sternly.

Tony's tone shifted slightly, the casualness replaced with impatience. "How much worse are we talking, Stephen?"

Stephen paused, running a hand through his hair. "She touched me, Tony. And I felt it. This isn't just some hallucination or mental breakdown. It's real, and it's escalating."
There was silence on the other end of the line, then Tony let out a sigh. "Stephen, come on. You know how stressed we've all been. This could be a stress hallucination for all we know! It’s probably nothing, baby.”
Stephen's jaw tightened, anger bubbling up inside him. "Hallucination? It’s nothing?"
Tony's tone remained dismissive. "Look, I'm in the middle of something important. Why don't you take a break? see a therapist. It’ll be helpful.”
"You don't get it, Tony. This isn't something a therapist can fix. But fine, if you won't help, I'll figure it out myself.”

“Baby wait- ” Stephen ended the call and painstakingly grabbed his coat. He had a certain paraplegic to visit.
