Chapter Text

Octavio Silva was a little prince who lived with his parents in a castle.

He would play around the castle with his best friend who was a princess from another kingdom his grandfather had alliance with, the kingdom who is ruled by the Che family. They would run around and cause mischief, causing troubles and getting scolded and punished by their parents later. But it was all fun for Octavio, he wouldn’t listen to their advice, looking anywhere but his parents eyes while rocking back and forward. While Ajay Che-his best friend, would listen and promise to be better. Basically she lied.

Octavio looked up to his mother and her wonderful cooking skills, she would always sit at the dinner table in their royalty home and dream and talk about how she wished she wasn’t a soon to be queen, and follow her childhood goal of being a legendary chef and run her own restaurant. Her son wanted her dream to come true with all his heart, he loved her and loved seeing her happy, though he wasn’t good at showing it with all his miss behaving and all. He hated seeing her always busy with duties and stuff she didn’t enjoy, tired all the time to do the thing she loves most-cooking. So the personal royal chefs would do that most of the times. But the whole family preferred her cooking better. it was truly delightful.

And she couldn’t make much time for her son.

So both him and Ajay had a caretaker looking after them, who would read them bedtime stories sometimes. He was always invested in them, but acted like he didn’t care. The caretaker knew he liked them because he would always shush Ajay when she spoke over the caretaker and listen to the story while laying down on his back and waving his legs around in the air.

Octavio hated his grandfather, he would yell at him and get mad at him all the time, he didn’t know what to do and what to not do around him, he always was super cautious because he was kinda scared of his anger. His parents would go silent while that happened and he would feel betrayed by them.

One day his father was diagnosed with an awful horrible disease, the others kept that from him. Even though he was a kid, he felt suspicious of their odd behavior, and how he wasn’t allowed to visit his father and his mom would not be around, she seemed..sad. And he didn’t know why.

The news of his father’s sudden passing couldn’t be kept from him however, and his mother’s came soon after in a few weeks. Everything happened way too fast to little Octavio. He was shocked, he was shattered, the light in his eyes died at a very young, his world of sunshine and rainbows just..disappeared and he was knocked out and taught how cruel the world can be to.

He eavesdropped the others talking about how his parents died at the funeral.

His father was ill.
His mom died from a broken heart.

That’s what he heard and could understand.

He refused to eat, he refused to listen to the caretakers and servants, and he would yell at his grandfather for not letting him see his sick father, while he was alive.

“There were so much I could tell him! And now he will never know about that new trick I taught my rabbit! Or what we found around the castle..” he would vent out his frustration to his only friend whom he didn’t feel betrayed by and who listened..Ajay. Walking around in the castle with her mumbling angrily, screaming at the top of his lungs. He was mad at everyone, everyone but Ajay.

His grandfather would treat him the same, but even colder and scarier. He was so annoyed with him one time, he even started hitting him because he kept yelling at his grandfather. Which made him even more terrified of his grandfather.

When his best friend would visit, he would hug her tight, and tell her to promise she wouldn’t die suddenly. He even would track what his pet rabbit would eat, he made sure it wouldn’t get ill and was healthy. He was just always afraid of someone he loves just..going..out of nowhere.

Now it was only him and his grandfather in the castle, he needed to be careful around him. Obey his every order, listen to every word he says.

(Present day, age 23 Octane, after 18 years.)

“He would say 𝓨𝓸𝓾 𝓼𝓱𝓪𝓵𝓵 𝓫𝓮 𝓴𝓲𝓷𝓰, 𝓫𝓸𝔂. But just like my madre I didn’t want to.” Octavio ran his cleaning towel on the table, cleaning it.

“Bah, being royalty sounds like a dream. I don’t get why ya rich folks just want to be poor. It sucks in here ya know.” The chef said, who was sitting on the tables in the empty restaurant, listening to his story.

“Trust me amigo, being royalty is loADs of responsibilities, you can’t be free you know? You have to be perfect and soon marry some princess you don’t know because benefits and what not.” He scarps on a stain angrily, which he can’t remove.

“Marrying a beautiful princess? Now that’s the dream.”

“maldito chef-” he mumbles “No! I don’t want that! It sounds boring and stupid bleh. I want to make my own money through my own job, and open my own restaurant..that’s been always what I wanted to do. I have literally secretly saving up my whole entire life! And you know I have a different shift at two o’clock!”

“Pshh, you don’t know what you have. How privileged you are, little prince.” The chef gets up and makes his way back to the kitchen.

“It’s something you only know, once you’re there. Once you wear my sho-“ he raises his voice, annoyed by his friend chef’s reaction to all the things he just told him, how strict his home was and he just..called him a privileged rich prince?

“Yeah yeah, boohoo to you ‘Tavio boy.”

Just as Octavio was about to shoot back, he heard the door bell ringing, and that was his cue to hide his face, hide his prince identity from the others. He needed to get back to work.
“Buenos días Silva, no need ta be afraid, it’s just ya girl-Che” the costumer, dressed in the most outrageous, none princess-y clothes, came in with the other members of a band she was a secretly drummer in.

“Oh princess Che! How are you doing in this fine morning? It brings me much joy to see you here!” He dramatically bows to her like the royalty he is.

“Oh mister Silva! How kindly of you to ask about my health! I am feeling…hungry, get ya ass t’ work and bring me a plate of pancakes.”

“Uh! Such vulgar language! You shall give me a tip for the troubles young lady!”

“Yeah yeah, bring me and ma crew some food.”

“On my way, your highness.” He writes down their order elegantly and he gets to work..elegantly.
His mocking made Ajay roll her eyes. “Same old, ‘tavio” one of the members said.

After a couple of minutes, the pancakes and tea is placed on their table. Ajay clapped her hands and dug right in.

Octavio had to serve the other costumers before having to clean Ajay’s table when she finished

She sighs “My parents are forcing me to attend another royal ball, need ta blow off some steam by jammin’ it out with the drums..”

“Sí, it sucks how much they want to get us to fuck. I’m not dancing with you again amiga!” He carries the dirty plates and he moves them quickly and skillfully on the trays.

“What can we do, we will have kids togetha soona or lata. I will name the first born..shithead. Shithead Silva- Shithead Che”

“Che!” One the members’ eyes widened in disgust.

“StOop! Gross gross! You will have to give me double the amount of the tip you usually give me!”

“Alright, my future husband!”

“STOP!” Now even her crew was begging her to shut up.

Octavio laughed awkwardly and walked to the kitchen to place the dirty dishes to wash later.
Another royal ball with the other kingdoms.. he sighed, he really didn’t want to go through that again, but can he really say no to his grandfather?

He would need to take a few days off..but he needed his paycheck, he was so close to getting that new restaurant, that he would own and run. he felt it. He knew he needed to try his very best to achieve his dreams and do the impossible and make his mother proud. He knew she was watching- well she better be, he’s doing that for her, he’s doing that for him. But most importantly, he’s doing this for himself.
