Work Text:
A day at the beach was certainly not something Alva had done at all prior to dating Jack, but now here he is- sat on a lounge chair with a cold drink to the side of him, his body wrapped up tightly by a comfortable towel. Of course, an umbrella was stationed above his head- too much of that sun would sear his skin. Here, he was perfectly content, not even the ocean calling to him as he wasn’t even much for swimming either, unlike his partner who rather seemed to revel in it.
“Are you certain you’re comfortable here, my love?” Jack intrigued as Alva plastered his pale skin with sunscreen, his intentions always wanting the best for his lover.
“I believe so- it’s a wonderfully comfortable setup if I am to be honest.” The heat was certainly present, but not a hot, heavy humid type, with an ever so slight breeze where it would still feel pleasant, yet not strong enough to turn the pages of his book if he left it open.
“I can imagine; I admit you aren’t one I see skipping along the waterfront.” He softly laughs, kissing Alva on the cheek before he sits up, Alva already missing his presence. “I’d quite like to enjoy the ocean myself- I promise I’ll return to you on the regular.”
“Please do so, my rose- as I am rather content here.” Alva gives him a kiss in return on his forehead as Jack leans down, their intimacy in a public place modest yet still brimming with affection.
And with that, Alva easily made a whole day out of that lounge chair setup, only once being taken out to one of the piers by his lover to have lunch together as they overlooked the seemingly endless sea- though that much time in the sun alone was enough to have Alva quickly retreat to his enclave once they had finished, he wasn’t exactly suited for such brightness and warmth for long.
As much as anyone else would describe his visit as boring- Alva didn’t mind, finishing two booklets of crossword puzzles and making a few small knitted cats in his free time. He felt rather pleased with his work today if he is to be honest!
Before long, that bright sun above him had finally started to set, its orange light reflective off of the beautiful ocean, dying it a warm amber. He almost feels chilly now, letting the towel conceal his body further as he pulls in his legs to his chest. They’d surely go home soon enough, he can’t imagine how tired his lover must be with whatever the man did all day- at least he had fun.
He frankly even misses the man, so much time apart was rare… or, Alva was just clingy. Either way, his heart blooms at the sight of him finally making his way back to Alva’s little concealed enclave, almost seeming whimsical as he gleefully approaches his fiancé. “Alva, my sweet- the sun has finally set on this wonderful day.”
“So it has- and may I say… you do look rather charming in the light of a setting sun.” The golden light has his dark hair and pale skin bathed in warm light, his typically deep blue eyes a now gorgeous shade.
“And you look rather endearing, like a caterpillar poking out of a cocoon.” He softly laughs as he gazes at his lover, sitting down on the edge of the lounge chair with him.
“I… typically do not enjoy the heat, nor the sun, nor the lively attitude of the beach- but this towel; this quiet little setup, helped me enjoy this trip quite a lot, strangely enough.” Alva sits upwards now that he’s sharing his presence with Jack- quick to tug in his towel cover back over himself as he realizes it is quite chilly, a drastic change from the boiling heat earlier.
“I know you’re rather indoorsy, you deciding to come even rather shocked me, so… it makes me quite happy you were content.” Jack, despite clearly still being damp from the salty sea hardly seemed to mind said chill as he spoke, his voice as smooth and as suave as always… Alva is always just a tad jealous over how well the man can handle every kind of temperature. “Yet- I’d like to steal you away from here, for just a moment.”
“Steal me away, my rose? That is a rather tempting offer…” Alva can feel himself softly smiling; how he adored his lover so.
“Stealing you away to something you’d quite enjoy, I can promise that much.” He laughs ever so lightly at Alva playing along, and Alva’s heart skipping a beat; how he loved to listen to him laugh.
“I’m rather quite curious now- please do lead the way, my rose.” Alva puts a suitable cardigan around his torso before taking Jack’s hand in his own, before finally letting his feet sink into the now far cooler sand as they both stand upwards.
“It’s not far from here at all, I promise.” With a gentle yet certainly initiating tug on his wrist, Alva leaves his beach towel he was stuck to akin to a hermit for the second time all day, hardly wanting to risk the daylight burning his porcelain skin. “The sunset will only last for so long… I would love to embrace you in the light of it.”
“It does feel far less scorching than it did earlier… I could barely handle the bright sun and that awful heat.” Alva was the type not to tan, but rather burn, incredibly easily at that. The hot summer sun was quite the threat when it came to his skin rather than a luxury so many others on the beach that day seemed to take it as, even his dear lover, despite Alva having to properly lather him in sunscreen multiple times. The both of them being northern European certainly didn’t help when it came to sun exposure in the slightest, rather than tan, they’d quite literally always burn.
“It’s far more pleasant now, I can assure you that much. I’ve always enjoyed that small fraction of time where the sun sets the most, the way the ocean looks as if it is of pure fire…” Ever the artist, Alva feels beyond endeared by his lover’s creative mind as he steps foot in the now cooled ocean with him.
The water reaches his ankles now, Jack’s guiding hand now letting go of Alva’s own. He’s rather curious as to why the man would take him out here… “Did you wish for me to experience the ocean with you?”
“In a certain way- My love, I would like to slow dance with you in front of such a sight; if you’d have me.” He takes Alva’s hand in a demonstration, his other taken to Alva’s waist- Alva feels a warmth rise to his cheeks, which is certainly not helped by how beautiful Jack looks in the warm light of the setting sun.
“Yet- I… am no good at dancing, I fear I have two left feet-” Alva tries to speak through his flustered words; the ocean is cool at his feet, but the way his lover has him swooning has his insides feeling burning hot.
“You always have been, from what I remember.” Alva doesn’t even have a moment to breathe as he’s swooned into a dip, his long hair dipping into the ocean as Jack holds him steadily by his back and his hand. “Yet, It seems as long as I lead- you can be quite capable.”
As if to demonstrate, Jack pulls him out from his dip and into his chest, guiding their footsteps along for a wonderfully intimate exchange. If Alva wasn’t swooning before this, he certainly was now as he feels Jack’s heartbeat through his pallid skin.
“I’m not quite sure if we can count it for me if you’re doing all the work, my rose.” He softly laughs, as it’s quite certain if Jack let him freestyle now he’d fall right on his rear. While Alva quite honestly had no clue how to dance, especially submerged, the water barely seemed to bother his lover in the slightest, his lithe agile body making easy work of their predicament, pulling Alva in one moment, and dipping him so far down that strands of his hair touch the salty water the second.
“Yet, you’re the one so wonderfully easy to guide along like this- and look so very breathtaking while you do so.” His voice, deep and alluring, right up against Alva’s ear- if he wasn’t being held, he’d likely melt away and drift into the ocean. “I am always drawn to your long, delicate limbs- how graceful they are.”
“You’re always such a flatter, my rose, but yours are far more alluring; you’re so very lithe, so regal with every movement- I could mistake you as someone who does this for a living.” How charming it was to be slowly taken along for their shared dance like this, Jack’s elegant movements on display up close… Alva is solidly certain of why his heart beats for this man at the very moment.
“It’s always been a hobby; One I rather wanted to refine these last few months, so I could do this… with you, my love.” He neatly twirls Alva as he finishes, guiding the man into his arms as he ‘falls’ into them, a wonderful ending to that glamorous rush he had gotten from their dance. “I do hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. The sunset made a rather spectacularly artsy backdrop- you look beyond stunning in the warm light, my love.”
Alva softly smiles as he pulls him close, their chests pressed against each other; making for an awfully intimate position as they stood in the low tide. “I’ve always been quite the poor dancer, but with you as my guide, it simply felt… natural. Thank you for today.”
“I’m relieved you enjoyed yourself- I know your preferred setting is safely indoors… but I wanted to see the seaside with you.” Voice soothing, he gently guides Alva back to their small setup… and Alva relives he feels quite worn out- such an adventurous day… that he largely spent doing crossword puzzles.
“The ocean, the wonderful sunset, the feeling of the waves against me- it was all so very beautiful to experience by your side.” He’s always been rather organized, so their small little area should be no problem to pack up- which is a relief, he’d like to be comfortably in bed soon.
And now, they’re to head home, but not before Jack leaves a kiss on his cheek before he gathers up their belongings. “You have the same effect on me, my Alva- how am I to focus on the sunset with your ethereal beauty so perfectly enthralling?” Cheeks adorned with red, Alva flusteredly slides on his cardigan, the cold enough to bite at his skin even with how much Jack had him turning red. With how passionate his lover is flirting with him; he knows tonight certainly won’t be a short one… which is something Alva doesn't mind at all.
