“WASSUP, LATTE LOUNGE?!”
The café erupted in cheers.
“PEANUT HEAD! PEANUT HEAD! PEANUT HEAD!”
Craig tried his best not to flinch at hearing Toman’s old nickname. He should have been used to it by now, as the band has had the name for around 10 years. Of course, the band wasn’t active the entire time. It was only 6 years ago that they had started making more music besides “Sparkle Planet.”
“We are PEANUT HEAD!!!” Sparkle yelled into the microphone, “I’m the lead singer, Sparkle! On drums, we have JP!”
Ba-dum-tss!
“On guitar, we have Kelsey!”
Kelsey played a sick guitar solo.
“Playing the sousaphone, Beth!”
Beth played the note she once played to signal dinner time for the creek kids.
“On the bass, we have Craig!”
Craig played the bass line from one of their hit songs.
“On the beat maker, we have Stacks!”
Stacks pressed a couple of buttons.
“On the keyboard! We have Raj!”
Raj slid his hand down his keyboard.
“Shout out to Raj’s now-fiancé Shawn, who is also our manager and assistant manager here, which is how he got us this gig!” Sparkle yelled, emphasizing the fact that Raj & Shawn were newly engaged. The crowd went wild hearing about the couple’s engagement. Peanut Head had a decent social media following and many of their fans shipped Raj and Shawn to an extreme level.
“Anyways! This is our rendition of ‘Cupid!’ We hope you enjoy!” Sparkle yelled before she started to sing.

The crowd cheered as Peanut Head finished their last song of the night. The group said their farewells to the audience before they started packing up and the café started their closing process. Once the group finished putting away their instruments, they sat down at a table with Shawn to discuss upcoming events.
“Ok, first of all, that was yet another great performance,” Shawn said.
“Thanks, Shawn!” Beth said.
“But I do want to talk to you all about something in particular,” Shawn said, “Yesterday I received an email—”
“I DIDN’T DO ANYTHING!” JP yelled.
“It wasn’t a bad email?” Shawn said.
“Ok, never mind,” JP said.
“Anyways, I received an email and it said that a really awesome group was invited to compete on EOTC’s Battle of the Bands! And the winner gets to open for Bad Moves!” Shawn said excitedly.
“Well that’s good for the really awesome group, but what does that have to do with us?” JP asked.
“Yeah,” Kelsey said.
“Guys, we’re that awesome group!” Craig said.
“Ohh,” JP and Kelsey said at the same time before it clicked.
“EOTC WANTS US?!”
“Yep! In two weeks we’re all going to Washington DC!” Shawn said.
“We’re gonna be famous!!!” Raj said in awe.
“DC here we come!” Stacks said.
“But how did we get invited?” Craig asked.
“I don’t know, but the email said a guy named David was the host and he suggested Peanut Head as a competitor,” Shawn said, shrugging.
“David?! I remember him!” Kelsey said.
“Man, it’s been years since we’ve seen him,” JP said.
“JP, we saw him four months ago,” Stacks said.
“Oh yeah,” JP said.
“What else do we need to know about the contest?” Sparkle asked.
“There are 31 other bands competing—”
“31?!” Beth exclaimed, “That many?!”
“Yep,” Shawn said, “Two bands will face off against each other each round and one will go on to the next round and the other will be eliminated.”
“So, it’s nothing we can’t handle, right?” Sparkle said hopefully, “Come on, guys! We can do it!”
“Yeah!”
