Work Text:
A Maiden and Her Knight
Being summoned to the world of Askr was certainly something even Micaiah’s foresight couldn’t predict. While getting dragged out of one war into another wasn’t the greatest thing, she couldn’t just not help the Order of Heroes as their situation reminded her of what she was fighting for back home. Besides joining the Order meant that she saw faces new and old, like Marth, Hero-King of Archanea or Seliph, the Scion of Light, and of course her allies from Tellius like Sothe and the Dawn Bridge, sadly Nolan, Laura, Aran and Meg hadn’t been summoned yet, Ike with the Greil Mercenaries, Queen Elincia of Crimea, her younger sister Empress Sanaki, and many others, hell even the likes of Mad King Ashnard, Riders Petrine and Bretram, and that bastard Jarod were summoned. Seeing them here gave Micaiah a slight hope that a certain black-armored knight was here as well, for she held a great number of feelings for him.
Micaiah went around asking about if The Black Knight was summoned here in Askr, and the general consensus was that he was but only ever shows up to assist the Summoner with one of their many tasks or participate in battles against the Order’s foes before promptly disappearing, which admittedly made Micaiah smile as that sounds like him. Now knowing that he was here, Micaiah was now concerned that he might not be from her time but instead hailing from The Mad King’s War 3 years prior, considering that a great deal of Heroes from Tellius come from that time period. Thankfully Ike, the one from her time, confirmed that The Black Knight summoned here was indeed the one she knew, having the black outer layer on his cape and the scars across his armor from his duel with the Radiant Hero, now she just had to find him.
A few days pass with Micaiah not having much luck finding The Black Knight, even with help from the locals and Heroes who’ve been here longer. Right now Micaiah decided to hang out at the Aether Resort, having found a nice spot near one of the farms to sit. She saw a great deal of Heroes going about their daily routines, whether that be training, going out on patrol, or simplifying hanging about. Currently Micaiah was watching a racing competition between the many of the red and green haired cavaliers that were summoned, Micaiah did find it interesting that all of their worlds had pairs of red & green cavaliers and wondered what else they had in common but that was for another time. She decided to cheer for Oscar, a member of the Greil Mercenaries and the only one she knew, though not personally. Seeing that there were a great deal of spectators further down, Micaiah decided to get up and head down to join them before being stopped by a voice from behind her.
“Maiden…. Is it truly you?” The voice asked, with Micaiah immediately recognizing the voice. She turned around so quickly that she nearly fell over but after regaining her footing, Micaiah saw him . The Black Knight. He was standing in the shade of a large tree, though she could easily tell it was him. Micaiah tried her hardest to keep herself composed but couldn’t as she ran over to the armor-clad knight and gave him a hug, tears beginning to form in her eyes.
“You really are here Sir Knight!! I was beginning to think I’d never see you here.” Micaiah said as she looked up to the Black Knight, still hugging him. He was caught off guard by this display of affection from her. The Black Knight knew she held feelings for him, in fact he did for her as well, but for her to show them like this was unheard of. Black Knight brought his left hand up to Micaiah’s left shoulder and returned the hug.
“Yes I am…. Now let us sit down and rest for a moment.” The Black Knight replied in a tone Micaiah very rarely heard. A softer and more caring one that deeply contrasts the dark and striking armor that the knight wore. Black Knight leaned his shining blade Alondite against the tree and let Micaiah sit down before sitting down himself. Micaiah shuffled closer to him while the Black Knight proceeded to cover her with his cape. They sat there in silence for what seemed like an eternity looking across the Aether Resort before Micaiah eventually spoke up.
“I…. I know I’m acting rather uncharacteristic of myself with seeing you again…” Micaiah said aloud suddenly. The Black Knight looked down at the silver haired maiden.
“Ever since we met that night you saved me from Jarod’s ambush, I began to develop… feelings for you. I didn’t realize the full extent of my feelings until you left after we fought the Greil Mercenaries at the Ribann River…. I had hoped to see you again so I could tell you how I felt but that never happened.” Micaiah continued on, looking off into the distance rather solemnly. The Black Knight looked off as well, feeling a brief moment of regret for essentially abandoning Micaiah after that fight, though in fairness he had other duties to attend to but that didn't excuse his actions.
“I…. am sorry to leave you like that Maiden, I had other duties my master wanted me to attend to. I want to tell you that I too have developed feelings for you…. I only wish I had told you sooner.” The Black Knight replied, still looking off into the distance.
Micaiah turned around, got on her knees and looked at the knight’s helmet. As he turned his head to look at her, Micaiah placed a hand on the side of his helmet. The Black Knight looked at Micaiah directly, her golden yellow eyes looking back at him. She then placed her other hand on his helmet and began to slide his helmet upwards, The Black Knight would usually be opposed to this but yet not this time. Micaiah only brought the helmet up far enough to expose his mouth, noticing that he had a very chiseled jawline, and gave him a kiss on the lips. The armor-clad knight was surprised by this but yet returned it. The kiss didn’t last for very long but the two could feel the love and passion from the other through this kiss. Micaiah, after backing off the kiss, blushed brightly and sat back down clearly embarrassed by what she had done.
“I’m sorry about that Sir Knight, I ah….” Micaiah trailed off, not being able to finish her train of thought. The Black Knight pulled his helmet back, though not before smiling slightly.
“No need to be, Maiden. I…. very much enjoyed it.” The Black Knight replied. Micaiah smiled and leaned back, resting her head on his chestplate. The pair continued to sit under the shade of the tree, watching the sunset across the Aether Resort until nighttime came upon them.
“I believe it is time for us to turn for the night.” The Black Knight said aloud. Micaiah nodded, getting up with The Black Knight following suit and grabbing his sword before heading off to barracks with Micaiah. Making their way to the barracks, they passed by many Heroes who were shocked to see the Black Knight out and about, considering how mysterious and elusive he was before. Micaiah had a few stops before going to her room, talking to a few of the Heroes she had met recently like Shez, a mercenary from Fodlan, and Alear, a Divine Dragon from Elyos. The Black Knight had stood there silently, though both Heroes made a comment about him. Shez had mentioned that he reminded her of someone called The Death Knight she had fought before while Alear just mentioned how intimidating he was. But eventually they made it to Micaiah’s quarters and they both said their goodbyes. But as Micaiah began to close her door, the Black Knight had one last thing to say to her.
“Maiden…. From this day forward, I will never leave your side ever again. I promise.” The Black Knight stated. Micaiah blushed and smiled before closing her door. As she laid down in her bed, Micaiah thought about what lies ahead for her in the days to come.
