Roses and Blood

Summary:

Who hasn’t wondered what human meat tastes like at some point? Was it really Rosie's fault when the perfect opportunity had been placed right in front of her?
(Takes place when She was alive)

Notes:

I wrote about cannibalism again.

The lack of Rosie-centric content in this fandom is sad, so I'll just have to contribute to it myself.
This takes place when she was alive. Also, I know that there's theories about her and all of Cannibal town being Hellborn, but for this story, I'm just assuming that that's not true.

TW: Blood, gore, cannibalism, and mentioned death.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Furious shouting assaulted Rosie’s eardrums as a glass bottle came hurtling towards her. It exploded into a burst of shards as she dodged away, gazing with fear into the red scrunched up face of her enraged husband. His thick meaty hand slammed into the table as he continued to drunkenly shout at her. There was so much racing through her head, she didn’t know what to do. She never knew what to do when he came home like this.

“YOU… YOU don’t know a THING about me!,” He slurred before stumbling a bit closer, “AND I DON’T HAVE A PROBLEM!!”

“Please, calm down dear…”

“YOU CALM DOWN! I-I… DO EVERYTHING FOR US!!!” He had been slowly approaching Rosie. He was uncomfortably close to her by the time he spoke again,

“How pure… ” He mocked, leaning in closer, “tryna’ act all innocent, Rosaline… YOU’LL NEVER GET IT.”

She felt his hot breath press against her cheek, the stench of alcohol wavering about. She didn’t really know what he was going on about this time, but she didn’t like where this was going.

“I- *hic* I may as well beat the ignorance outta ya’” He hissed.

Oh no. Rosie closed her eyes and winced, preparing for the worst, only to be surprised by the sudden feeling of weight falling against her body. Her eyes flicked open as her shaking bony arms instinctively rushed to support the mass, stopping it from completely sliding onto the ground.

Her husband had passed out. She held him out in front of her, shaking and staring wide eyed at the limp mess of a man who had been yelling at her moments prior. His brown hair seemed to be sticking out in every direction. A feeling of relief washed over her, yet also a twinge of some awful emotion sinking into her gut. She didn’t want to confront it, instead choosing to bury it and shifting her focus towards the process of dragging herself and the limp heavy weight of her husband to their bedroom.

Only once she had lifted him up onto the bed and tucked herself in beside him did everything suddenly come crashing over her at once. The bottle of emotions she had been repressing burst open into hundreds of broken shards, all splintering her heart.

She did not love this man. She never had. Not even for a second. Why had she somehow gotten herself into the position of marrying him? Part of her wondered if she even knew what love was at all. Is this what it was meant to feel like? Brutal and painful? Like constantly walking on eggshells every moment of her life so that he wouldn’t blow up at her?

Rosie shook with rage and grief, tears pouring from her eyes. She was tired of sucking it all in and cowering before the man that made her life a living hell. She was tired of succumbing to his every whim and only letting him because it was what she was supposed to do as a lady. She was tired of this marriage. She was tired of this life.

She tried wiping the tears from her eyes and turning to face her unconscious husband, who’s body was turned away from her.

Rosie’s stomach growled. She had been so caught up in everything she completely forgot that she hadn’t even eaten dinner that day.

Her mouth watered as she stared into the back of her husband’s head. Her gaze trailed to the soft nape of his neck and down to his back, covered by the cloth of his shirt. Thoughts that she really shouldn’t be having pushed their way to the front of her mind. She couldn’t help but think about the flesh pressing against his bones. The warm blood pulsing through the veins of his body.

She wanted to know how he tasted, and not in a sexy way.

This wasn’t the first time Rosie recalled having thoughts like this. Her first husband had died in a rather untimely way… it had been a complete and total accident, yet when she had realized he was dead, and first layed her eyes upon his lifeless body, she hadn’t been able to resist sneaking just a small taste out of curiosity.

Who hasn’t wondered what human meat tastes like at some point? Was it really her fault when the perfect opportunity had been placed right in front of her? And it wasn’t causing any harm if he was already dead. He hadn’t exactly tasted too great, and she had refrained from consuming more, but ever since then, the thought of eating human flesh hadn’t left her mind.

And here she was, the perfect opportunity right infront of her. The tears stopped with a spike of adrenaline. Was she really about to do this? She was hit with a sense of guilt. Her moral compass was telling her this was wrong. But what other choice did she have? Was she really just going to sit there and let this man abuse her again and again? She now had a solution right in front of her, and if she just followed through, she wouldn’t have to be stuck in this cycle forever.

She would finally be free.

The hunger was gnawing at Rosie’s gut. She knew what had to be done. Without giving it another second of thought, she creeped in closer, crawling over his motionless body and licking her lips.

She barely noticed his eyes peeling open as she dug her claw-like nails into his skin and sunk her teeth into the flesh of his chest, ripping the chunk away as blood dribbled down her chin. Now the adrenaline truly kicked in, no longer out of fear, but a rush of elation. She didn’t notice that he was awake now until the subtle grunts turned into screams as the man writhed and thrashed beneath her grasp.

She expected herself to jump away with fear, or at least flinch with some sort of sympathy, but instead, her grip on his flesh tightened, and a flutter of sickening joy flitted in her heart. The abusive wretch was finally getting what he deserved.

Smiling with a wicked grin, she leaned in and tore another chunk of flesh away, reveling in the man’s pained screams of horror. Nothing had ever tasted so good in her life.

She continued to gnaw away at her husband’s flesh until his screeches drowned away into weak whimpers. Red stained every corner of the white sheets, splattered across Rosie’s face and hands. Even by the time any spark of life had left his eyes and they rolled back into head, she still kept going, feasting like a bloodthirsty queen.

She only truly processed what she had done once her belly was full and she stepped away from the bloody scene. She had completely torn apart and ravaged the man’s body. A sickly bitter feeling rose in her chest for a moment. She couldn’t believe it. She couldn’t believe that she had just done that… she had eaten a person and enjoyed it. But the bitterness quickly turned sweet as she realized the man who had caused her so much pain and suffering for months was finally dead.

He was gone. She was free.

A bit of anxiety rose, realizing she would have to do something with the body and the evidence splattered all over the bed, but in the moment, none of that mattered. She was no longer chained to the man she hated.

And not to mention, she had gotten a free meal out of it too. How lovely.
