Work Text:
Tempo was sitting with shadow, it’s been a while since they’ve hung out and they were just catching up again. Though, what tempo said next made shadow perk up. “You know, it’s been a while since we’ve sang a song together, like old times.” He grinned, his tail swaying slowly.
Shadow smiled, bouncing in place “oh! We totally should! But if someone sees us. You know how I get” she cringed, tapping her thumb against her palm.
Tempo shook his helm “you worry too much sometimes,” he sighed “you need to let loose and be yourself!” He gently shoved her, though due to his size it was a little more aggressive on her end.
Shadow whined softly, looking away and crossing her arms.
Tempo shook his helm and leaned down to her level “how about you pick the song this time?~” he cooed.
Shadow thought about it before grinning “Antivillan!” She settled on a song she could ease into.
Tempo groaned before playfully rolling his eyes “making me do all the work?” It seemed this was a pattern with her.
Shadow snickered “yep!” She leaned back with a grin.
“Fine” he sighed, standing up and pulling shadow up with him. “Ready?”
Shadow shook out her arms to calm her nerves “yeah, yeah.. I am” she took in a deep breath before getting into character, crossing her arms and looking deeply upset.
Tempo let out a deep chuckle, playing the instrumental of the song as he got into position. He took a few steps away from shadow before approaching her as he sang “Hey, sorry, I've just swung back around, Your face is looking gloomy it could use a... change” he slipped behind her, trailing a digit up her arm before gripping her shoulders. “Don't worry, please don't look so down, You've got a problem, I've an answer, it's a perfect exchange”
Shadow huffed, tilting to face away from tempo, closing her eyes as he continued on, acting as if she was resisting him.
Tempo continued on “A Jack in the Box, you're gonna pop, if they keep twisting slowly, Trapped in with locks, it all can stop, if you just listen closely” he grabbed shadow’s wrist and spun her around slowly to emphasize the twisting before stopping and suddenly pulling her closer and resting a digit under her chin to force her to listen to him.
Shadow glared at tempo, her optics widening a bit as she was spun around. She bared her teeth a bit as he held her chin, keeping up the act of denying his advances, yet, something began to give and she was in denial.
Tempo huffed before suddenly spinning shadow away from him and continuing the lyrics “Wipe out what you've been told, It's your choice to be controlled, oh~ Their suits aren't made for you, So maybe try on out my new worldview~”
Shadow slowly acted like she was more interested in tempo, her wings flicking in light defiance.
“Step out across the line Into a world that's just like mine, oh!~” tempo took a rather graceful step across an invisible line before offering shadow a hand which she almost took before yanking it back to her chest, giving tempo a mild glare.
“Ascendant to divine! Perfection isn't just a state of mind~” he raised his arms up towards the sky before winking at shadow as his voice lowered towards the end of the line. “Take a long look at all the people all around you, Do they look happy with the choices that they've made?” He spun around, his arms spayed wide, snapping his head suddenly toward shadow at the end of the line with a frown. Shadow huffed, looking away, but soon glancing back hesitantly.
Tempo snarled “You question me like I'm the one who called you here, I'm pretty sure you know the reason's crystal clearl his voice held more of a bite as he puffed his chest and towered over shadow with a huff “they wind you up like you're their cheap little toy” he grabbed her chin and forced her to look up at him “but in the end I think we both know that it's all just a ploy” he huffed.
As he repeated the chorus, Charlie slowly and hesitantly followed some of his steps, wobbly stepping over the invisible line, or acting coy when he offered his ‘new world veiw’ and not looking away when he insisted perfection wasn’t just a state of mind.
Tempo grinned, drawing shadow closer with a slow beckon “Crafting a world that will set you free, It only costs but a little fee” he grinned maliciously, carefully grabbing her faceplate as his expression grew just a bit more pleased “Just leave it, it's nothing,I think that you'd agree. Remove it, just lose it, give up humanity! “ he pulled over a chair with his tail and sat shadow in it, resting his servos on her shoulders "Now sit back, take a deep breath, and relax, as I count to three. One." He began to circle the chair “I've shut the door
cause there was no place for me. Two. I wanted more
than just a life of envy. Three. I've cut my ties, Now I've realized…” as he sang and circled the chair, tempo spun and danced, acting out the passion in his words. Shadow relaxed in the seat. As he wrapped up, he slipped back behind the chair and leaned his helm down right beside hers as he finished up his part in a deep ominous tone “...that you should too.”
And with that shadow sprung up from the seat and looked back at tempo as he moved the chair out of the way “Wipe out what I've been told It's my choice to be controlled, oh~” she offered her hand to him, making his grin widen as the two spun in a small circle “Their suits aren't made for me, But this isn't really quite my... cup of tea” she broke away from tempo and stepped forward on her own, a burst of confidence in her frame and motion as she began her part “Step out across the line, Into a world that's truly sublime, oh!~” she did a tight twirl before lifting one arm into the air “Ascendant to divine, But "perfection" isn't quite what I... had in mind” she tilted her head back at tempo with narrowed optics as her voice lowered at the end of the line.
“Their little words, they don't carry a threat” she huffed, looking up at tempo who took a quick step forward and picked up where she left off “yet they, pull your strings like you're a marionnette”
Shadow picked back up the next line as she turned around “they say, "you're not a pawn"” tempo huffed and snapped his next line beside her “but you're playing their game!?”
Shadow clenched her fists and shook her head with a stern expression “no way”
Tempo smirked, standing up straight as his tail flicked mischievously “we'll change the rules”
Shadow smirked, looking back at tempo “no, it won't be the same,” they both sang the next lines together “our way! Tick tock there goes the clock
ticking on down no it ain't gonna stop, no~”
Tempo took over, spinning shadow around and into a dip “You've made your decision now
come on, ditch the club of "holier than thou"” he purred before lifting shadow back up to trailed a digit under his chin as she moved onto her next line, stepping out to the right “A broken system isn't fixed with a broken solution”
Tempo stepped out to the left, smirking down at her “A revolution isn't built without a hint of delusion”
Shadow turned to face tempo, holing out a servo “We shut it down and rebuild from the ground”
Tempo turned to shadow with a grin, taking her servo in his “ha, ha, It's too late now, we've taken over the town”
They both pulled eachother closer, but never got too close, as the sang the final lines together “Wipe out what you've been told, It's your choice to be controlled, oh!” They held the pose until the music fully ended.
Shadow was the first to break away and giggle after the whole song was over, covering her face “I can’t believe I just did that again” she smiled.
Tempo chucked lowly “and you did rather well if I must say. Can’t believe you remembered the whole song” he nudged her with his tail.
Shadow laughed softly and looked away, rubbing her arm “you have some good music, ya know…”
Tempo chuckled “I know. We should do this more often, you know.” He suggested.
Shadow smiled “yeah” she agreed, looking back up at him again.
