“We need to be careful. Do not make a sound.” The last words punctuated for the effect.
Tech was hoping at least they would have an effect on his crew, being in the lead with his gadget in his hand while scanning for any and all trouble ahead. Expecting to run into some if the old signs were any indication of the same.
“But what if I need to ask something?”
Wrecker was right behind Tech and as per his usual, having some trouble toning down his voice and so once again asking all the annoying questions during a time they were supposed to be stealthy and all.
“We need to be quiet here or no rewards for any of us.” Tech used the psychology he knew would work on the powerhouse as he warned Wrecker not even bothering to look up from his device.
“Yeah Wrecks. Remember last time we did this we almost ended up in detention.” Hunter reminded the big guy just then, his voice soft white trying to whisper.
“Well, I had to ask cause if I needed to ask something then…”
“Come on people! You’re clucking away like headless chickens when Tech told us to be quite!”
Crosshair’s hiss of a snarl was certainly getting an appreciative nod from Tech. Because they really needed to stay quiet, their mission pending on it.
“Now shut the kark up the both of ya!”
Crosshair moved from the rear position to the front with Tech. Helping him with the locking mechanism of the entrance. The door swooshing open soon enough leading into a very dark room.
“This way.” Tech whispered, motioning for the others to follow.
The four of them tiptoed across the space towards their desired destination. The most precious treasure known in the galaxy they knew they would find behind the closed doors of the sanctum. The one special places situated at the very end of the room.
Another hack and the second set of doors opened. Revealing the treasure throve they could only begin to imagine. Something not unheard of, true. But this place, was stacked to the hilt!
“Wrecker. Bag!”
Techs whispered his order with Wrecker eagerly unlatching his backpack and holding it open while the rest of them started shovelling stuff to the very large size tote.
“Those too.”
Wrecker loud whispered at the ones on the back of the shelf up high he had spotted. Crosshair thankfully able to reach them.
They managed to get quite the haul in a short amount of time. Thanks to good planing for the mission mostly due to Tech’s genius and research.
As they were leaving they heard it. Someone was at the entrance trying to get in.
“Did you close the doors behind us?”
“Yeah, we did.”
“Then it will take some time for them to hack the codes.”
They could hear the locking mechanism open though quickly enough.
“Kark!”
“Quick! Hide!”
“Where?”
“Over there, follow me!”
They did and found themselves in a cramped utility room thankfully with a lock on the door as well. Unless the others entering knew of them being in there, they would be safe. For now.
Snuggled tightly in the small space Tech observed the general area thorough the small crack on the wall. Seeing someone enter and making their way to the sanctum just like the Bad Batch had done only moments ago.
They all heard the noises too the others were making.
“Aww man! Someone beat us to it!”
The frustrated voices of other clone cadets.
“The best stuff is gone!”
“Well there is something we can take over here.”
“Fine!”
The four of them had a hard time to hold their snickering under control but they managed somehow, even Wrecker.
Waiting for the other cadets to leave getting the leftovers before getting out themselves.
“That was close!”
“Well at least we beat them to it this time around!”
They quickly made their way to their barracks, making themselves comfortable on the floor with blankets and pillows having thrown there to create a nook for them all.
And it was then, when they could finally relax, check the haul the had gotten away with, which turned out to be only the good stuff.
“Next time, we get a bigger bag and take everything.” Wrecker declared with his mouth full of candy, the chocolate spread across his lips.
Then again, the others were hard at it too, devouring their fair share of the haul.
“That’s really a great idea Wrecks!”
It really was as there was only so much a clone cadet could take with the tasteless ration bars and the rationed meals in general.
As clearly, there was the good stuff out there too! So why not utilise their special ops skills to go and get it!
