Work Text:

" It's been a while, " Spring Bonnie immediately starts as his body slides onto the wood of the bench, taking his rightful place next to Fredbear, who didn't respond and only continued to look off into the distance with an awkward smile on his face.

Both the bear and rabbit sat in silence, both watching as kids ran around and had fun, swinging on swings, playing on the slide, running around as they should've. Attached to each kid was a mask and wrapped around each delicate wrist was a balloon. Brown, purple, yellow, red, and gold.

" Why did you do it? " Fredbear spoke into the silence that ate away at both of them. The same look remained on his face but you could tell how he felt from the tone of his voice. Spring Bonnie shifted in his seat and leaned back as if he was on vacation and not in the middle of a park in Utah.

His green eyes followed one child before moving on to the next. They all moved in an order that would make it impossible to loose track of someone you'd be looking for specifically.

The one with the bear mask climbed up the latter and slid down the slide before running around and going up again.

The one with the rabbit mask chased the one with the fox mask and tried their hardest to tap the others shoulder.

The one with the chicken mask flew as high as a kid could've on the dingy, poorly conditioned swingset.

And the one with the other bear mask just stood and watched among their friends as they played, naive to the danger ahead.

" Do you see what you ruined? They were all just innocent children- " Spring Bonnie only looked down at his lap and chuckled with a grin etched across his face. He shook his head and stood up with a groan that really showed his age. Fredbear actually turned his head to watch his old friend.

" It wasn't really my fault, " He argued, " Jealousy and anger mixed togther can be one hell of a drug that can last as long as it wants to. "

Reaching for his back pocket, Spring Bonnie pulled out his trusty knife and walked away from Fredbear one last time, suddenly gaining the attention of the five kids and beckoning them to follow him.

And as they did just that, all in a straight line, Fredbear could only watch as the person who used to be his friend marched the children away into the shadows, donning his purple suit and facade of happiness that slowly drenched away into the anger and jealousy he'd been talking about.
