Rex let out a sigh looking at the burning body of Darth Vader or Anakin Skywalker who ever knew him the best.
Rex had told Luke that he'll keep watch of the body for a while as he got food and celebrated the fall of the empire. Rex wished he could celebrate with the others but he just couldn't because he knew he and Ahsoka should be celebrating together.
But Ahsoka was killed by Vader on Malachor. He took off his helmet and set it beside him and grabbed a stick and touched the armor that used to hold the body of his Jedi general and friend.
“Skyguy wouldn't be happy if his leg was poked at even if he died. Commander Rex”
He looked to see ahsoka standing there, her eyes filled with love. She was wearing something different from the last time he saw her. But he did care about that. He winced when he spoke, his usual strong tough voice.
“Soka how are you here or am I having another dream again”
Ahsoka looked confused and walked to him. “Why do you think this is a dream”
Rex didn't even want to touch her because when he did it in his dreams he woke up. “You always say that and when you try to touch you I wake up so I know if I do this again. I don't wake up in our bunk alone”
Ahsoka sighed and raised an eyebrow marking “Why don't you ask me a question that the dream version of me wouldn't know the answer to. So this will prove to you that you aren't having another dream”
Rex looked at her as he thought about it until he finally came up with it.
“What did fives and echo do to my hair while I was asleep and it was stuck like that until the citadel”
Ahsoka smirked at Rex, knowing the answer all too well. “They dyed it pink and the dye was too hard to get out so you finally asked me to shave it and you left your helmet on for two weeks before you hair grew back”
Rex quickly pulled her into his arms and hid his face in his lekku. He felt her hand run over the back of his head.
“Rexie I know you missed me but we need to be a little more gentle now with me alright just until we get home”
Rex pulled back panic filling his eyes and he quickly looked over her body until ahsoka smiled.
“You still worry about me like I'm a fourteen year old girl.I'm fine alright we just need to be gentle with our unborn little ones. until I find a medical droid or midwife to check over their health because. I don't know how well 23 year old donated sperm works.I just want to make sure their as strong as they fell”
Rex looked confused as ahsoka grabbed his hand and placed it on her stomach and he felt a soft swell of it and he smiled, kissing her gently. After a while he pulled back.
“I thought you were dead little’un”
Ahsoka's eyes filled with tears. “I thought I was to until Ezra saved me. I had to find him with the help of Sabine. But we did and he celebrating with the rest of the ghost crew. But still when we were flying back to lothal.I found the sperm you donated. I remember you saying that you wanted to start a family after we won. I thought this would be a great welcome home present.”
Rex nodded his head and kissed her again. But then something made him pull ahsoka to his chest and grab one of his DC-17.
“General Skywalker?”
Ahsoka looked at the way Rex was and found Anakin standing there with R2-D2.
“Hello snips, rex I see you two are enjoying my funeral”
Ahsoka felt her cheeks heat up as rex still held his blaster in his hand. Anakin looked at Rex who just slid his blaster back in his holder.
“Skyguy I thought you became one with the force now” Ahsoka said as Rex still held her in a protective embrace.
Anakin looked at his former Padawan and surrogate little sister.
“I am I just wanted to check in on how my favorite togruta woman was doing after seeing her kiss my clone Captain”
Ahsoka looked at him as Rex grabbed his helmet off the ground again. R2-D2 beeps again and Anakin looked at the astromech.
“Yeah r2 you can go back to the party”
R2 rolled off and Rex looked at Anakin as Ahsoka hummed nuzzling into rex.
“I thought you would be checking on Luke and Leia because their your children and all”
“Well I thought I would check on you Rex because now that you're gonna be a father you need to be around for your children” Anakin said as he lifted his hand up.
Ahsoka looked confused as Rex kissed her forehead marking. “What did you do to him skyguy?”
Anakin smiled and spoke as Obi Wan Kenobi manifested beside him. “I fixed his age acceleration so in the next rotation he will be around the age of 37 but still look the same but he will be able to see his twins grow. Come on obi wan, you wanted to do that for Cody since the day you met him.”
“Yes I did Anakin now come on let's go check on your son and let's leave your Padawan and captain enjoy their family” Obi wan said smiling at the Clone Captain and Ahsoka.
Ahsoka gave a great full nod to her master and after they disappeared. Rex pulled her out of the embrace. He rested his hand on the side of her stomach where she was resting. The both of them kissed softly knowing that they will be the best parents in the galaxy. Now it was just being on the party on Endor we're their children didn't need to live in fear anymore.
