“What's going on?” Warriors asks, approaching Wild, Wind, and Hyrule at the dining table. Several colorful candies are spread out in a mess on the table between them.
“Hi, Wars,” Hyrule says. “We’re testing colors.” He sounds distracted as he arranges the candies in a very, very specific rainbow order. Warriors watches for a moment, baffled.
Wind picks up one of the candies from Hyrule’s unsorted pile and holds it up to Warriors. “What color is this?”
“Uh, yellow?” Warriors frowns.
“See!” Wind puts the candy down.
Hyrule rolls his eyes. “I know what yellow is, Wind. It goes here.” He slides the same candy over between two other yellow candies. “Do you know what yellow is?”
“Yeah, duh, it's the lightest warm.”
“Warm isn't a color.”
“Yes it is!” Wind drags one clawed finger from the end of the red spectrum to the end of the yellows. “Warm.”
Wild leans on his elbows, fascinated. “Okay, so name the other colors. Make it as simple as you can.”
Wind points to the other end of Hyrule’s arrangement. “Turquoise, teal, blue, indigo, purple, magenta.”
“What about violet?” Hyrule asks, pointing to a group of three candies. “That's an entirely different color.”
Warriors sits down. “No, it isn't. Violet and purple are just different names for the same color.”
Wild holds out a hand to stop him. “No, this is really interesting. They have entirely different color vision from most Hylians.”
“Well, yeah,” Wind says, like it's the most obvious thing in the world. “I'm part Deep Zora. Only some colors show up underwater, and those are the ones that you need to distinguish between. I'm fully aware that red and orange and yellow are technically different, but they all look like shades of the same color to me.”
“Huh?” Hyrule sounds confused. “What about my color vision?”
Warriors chooses two candies next to each other and points to them. “These two look the exact same to me. Are they different to you?”
“Yeah. It's subtle, but it's there. You're saying I can see more colors than you?”
“Seems that way.”
Wild taps his chin, eyes sparkling. “I wonder how we can leverage this…”
