“So many years of History, The Fights, The Highs, The Miseries.”

Summary:

What if Freddie’s death scene was written with my two silly little gay ocs??

Basically just replacing Grace and Freddie with these two, so one of them does have Calliope’s eidolon.

I guess this qualifies as an AU?

Work Text:

Katherine sped through the reliquary’s labyrinth-like bookshelves, her heart pounding in her chest as she moved as quickly as her legs could. She couldn’t tell if she was having a panic attack or running too quickly, nonetheless, she was terrified. Three gray figures followed her through every corner, she couldn’t escape them, it was impossible . She couldn’t die. Not before her trial. She couldn’t leave Amy, either. She couldn’t stand to see her face tearful and distraught. Seeing her that way would hurt her more than any stab wound. Her head filled with thoughts of her . They flooded her brain, til she ran straight into something . She began to freak out for a moment, thinking she hit a wall, or something trying to stop her from running. But then she realized—it was Amy. She looked up at her, eyes filled with some tears and panic.

“Amy! We need to go, now!” Katherine exclaimed, frantically trying to pull Amy away from the gray silhouettes following her. Amy stood quiet, but refused to budge. She just stood there for a moment.

“Amy, come on !”

Amy let go of Katherine’s hand, before looking back at her, admiration in her eyes. Soon that admiration faded as she glared back at the furies. She used herself to block Katherine from the attackers, like some sort of hero. Katherine watched in horror, she tried to pull her back, but just as she began to run over, a flash of crimson spurted from her side as she was sliced into by the dark knife of a fury.

Amy !” Katherine cried, watching as the furies faded away. She ran over to Amy’s side, kneeling to the floor as she held her head close to her.

I - it’s ok, Kat. ” Amy coughed, placing a hand onto Katherine’s.

“N-no! It’s not!—- please , you have to help her!” Katherine begged the idols standing before them.

“Katherine, I’m afraid there is nothing we can do.” Hecate said, “You must leave her here.”

Leave her ? I-I can’t—I won’t !” Katherine exclaimed, holding her Amy closer.

 (A/N: This isn’t a typo, she’s her Amy)

“K-Kat, listen,” Amy began, “You have to let me go..” She said, holding Katherine’s cheek tenderly in her bloodied hand.

I can’t! Y-you’re my best friend, I can’t live without you!” Katherine said, her eyes welling up with tears.

“Y-you have to..for me.” Amy muttered, as she began to shakily remove a bracelet from her wrist. It was a beaded bracelet with her name on it. The beads surrounding the letters resembled the colors of a sunset. She placed it onto Katherine’s wrist. Right next to Katherine’s matching counterpart.

“K-keep it safe for me..it’s always been my favorite one.” Amy said, smiling weakly at Katherine. Katherine, eyes now filled with tears, stared down at Amy.

“T-This isn’t how it’s supposed to end..” She sobbed.

“It’s not the end, Kat..we’ll see each other again, I promise..” Amy said, as her eyes glazed over. She went entirely limp in Katherine’s arms, causing Katherine’s eyes to widen.

“A-Amy?” She said, praying she’d get some sort of response. But she didn’t.

She was gone

Katherine pulled her in close, sobbing into her limp embrace. She wanted to stay there forever, in her arms for eternity, because that’s the only place she’s ever been truly happy.

“It’s time to go, Katherine..” Persephone advised, stepping towards her and Amy.

“T-there has to be something you can do, something !” She exclaimed, though she may as well have been begging.

“That’s not even in my power. You have to let her go, Katherine.”

Katherine stared at Amy’s face, one last time. Before gently setting her down, leaving her laying flat. She took Persephone’s outstretched hand, unable to contain her devastation, as she began to sob once again. Amy was irreplaceable. She couldn’t see herself being happy ever again, not without her .

She didn’t even get the chance to tell her that she loved her. All those days, daydreaming of their future together, where she’d finally found the courage to confess—was all out the window in seconds . And it was all her fault.

Notes:

Wrote this a few weeks back because I mentioned the idea to my bestie and she begged me not to.

This was a (light heartedly) spiteful fic.
Also I’d just gone through the rollercoaster of emotions that is romancing Freddie, then having to go through listening to
“It’s Time” before getting to revive her.

So needless to say, I was a mess. Second play-through vibes are insane. Freddie’s path is NOT for the faint of heart.

ALSO If you would like to see more of Katherine and Amy, I’m totally willing to publish more of them (I love these little gays sjskwoao)
