Work Text:
Tezuka and Atobe had been going out for a while before their teams caught on - which was exactly the problem.
''You're not serious, are you Tezuka?''
''I'm not discussing this with you, Fuji.''
''But you're way too young!''
''Nor with you, Oishi.''
''There is a 99 percent chance that the two of them have been going strong for some time now, therefore no point in trying to persuade either of them to do otherwise.''
Tezuka didn't comment on Inui's theory. As always.
''Not my business.''
''Mada mada.''
''I'm keeping out of this.''
''Buchou has a boyfriend.''
The last, underlined by a sing-song tone, made Tezuka turn so abruptly, the whole of Seigaku's tennis club became silent.
''As previously stated, what Atobe and I do or not do is our business. End of discussion. If I have to repeat myself again, I'll make sure you all regret the assigned laps. Dismissed.''
Atobe, meanwhile, had a similar scenario to face.
''You can't be serious, Atobe.''
''He's our biggest rival!''
''What do you want with such a stuck-up guy?''
''Couldn't you have chosen someone else from that team at least?''
''I think he's cute.''
''He's talented.''
''Usu.''
''I'm so jealous!''
Though Atobe did not really have the urge to reprimand them. Ore-sama did what ore-sama wanted after all.
However, all the comments they thought they had to make, gave him a rather impressive headache. Especially because most of them, without them noticing of course, had actually complimented his boyfriend.
He so needed to keep them away from him in the future…
When a text message arrived just when he had wanted to go to bed, Atobe checked the caller-ID before plopping onto the sofa and dialing the familiar number.
It took just one ring.
''Please tell me your day was less stressful than mine.''
''If you start a sentence with 'please', Kunimitsu, yours must have been close to a nightmare.''
''I assigned more than 500 laps in total.''
Atobe blinked.
''On how many players? I know you're fond of them but that seems too aggressive even for you.''
''All of the regulars.''
''All of them?''
''Yes. Because everyone had something to say I did not want to hear. And just for the record, I told them before-hand not to discuss it. That included commenting.''
''Your team adores you too much, Kunimitsu.''
''What did yours do then?''
''Mainly decide that you are too gorgeous to be taken off the market.''
There was silence for a moment.
''I think I prefer my teams' reaction. Yours sounds much more like I'm prey one has to hunt in packs.''
''Maybe. But I already have you and I didn't have to go to such lengths.''
''No. A seemingly endless tie-break certainly doesn't compare to the hunting picture you just painted.''
''Was there a hint of sarcasm in there, Kunimitsu? You know I love your humor.''
''You're the only one who gets to hear it.''
''True. I'm very lucky indeed.''
Atobe could imagine Tezuka wanting to roll his eyes and thinking better of it.
''Good night, Keigo.''
''Good night, Kunimitsu.''
''I love you.''
''I love you, too.''
''See you tomorrow.''
''Tomorrow.''
