Mortality

Summary:

Badboyhalo is an immortal being, so what happens when his soul-bond dies? What would happen if he’s separated from the one person who keeps him sane? And why is it always Foolish that gets involved in his problems…

Work Text:

Badboyhalo is immortal, he will live through thousands of lifetimes, wars, eras, he will see cities rise and collapse. Relationships grow and decay, but he can’t die. He couldn’t, not until he met Skeppy. Skeppy is his soul-bond, he will live as long as he does. The diamond provided energy, love, hospitality, and life to him.

But Skeppy isn’t immortal, he’s semi-immortal. A large difference, Skeppy will only sss hundreds of lifetimes, he will only witness some of his friends pass. When he dies, he will reincarnate, be born anew. But Bad? He will be trapped. Waiting to be found by his soulmate again, waiting until he can wake up once more. It’s like a slumber, Skeppy passes and Bad travels back to the End Temples. He will wake up, slowly gaining the memories he once had, while Skeppy, he will forget everything. It’s up to Bad to remind him of it all.

And it’s scary.

Badboyhalo will be sealed away again, until Skeppy summons him.

The soul-bond is more of a curse, it ensures they are always connected, it’s a loop. Skeppy dies, Bad is sealed away, Skeppy summons him. Over and Over and Over again. The summoning circle used for Bad will always be ingrained in Skeppy’s head.

But their children, friends, family, they won’t come back. They will all die in front of them,

what could be scarier?

Bad will always be able to see Skeppy die, it’s happened before. He cradled his face, kissing him gently, and letting him accept his death softly. He remembers the first death so vividly.

“SKEPPY!” Bad flew across the Nether, catching Skeppy just before he landed into lava. He heard something crack, but was more worried about the huge sword in Skeppy’s stomach. Definitely from a Wither Skeleton, he glanced across his body quickly seeing burn marks and huge slashes. The diamonds could only heal so much at once, but the sword? That cut through his heart, and shattered the gem on his forehead. The gut being the final blow.

“Hey, hey you’re okay! You’re gonna be fine.” Bad searched his inventory for a healing potions, seeing he had none, he tried healing him himself. Whispering incantations as none of them worked.

“B-Bad, I’m scared…” Skeppy huffed and choked out as he coughed blood, he started shaking and crying. His eyes wide open as he tried to get anything out his mouth.

He was dying.

Bad knew he was dying, he couldn’t save him. So he helped guide him over, after all he was once a grim reaper.

“Shh, it’s okay. Skeppy you’re dying. But it’s okay, we’ll see eachother again.

“BAD? Bad what do you mean- Bad please don’t leave me.” Skeppy shouted and squirmed as he held Bad’s hands, trembling and begging to be held. And Bad obliged, he gently moved Skeppy into his arms and kissed him gently. Wiping the blood and hair from his eyes. He gently told him what was going to happen, though quickly. Skeppy went into shock before lying still.

Bad looked into his dull eyes, kissing him once more before his vision went blurry, then-

Black.

He opened his eyes again to see Skeppy, a little different. His hair ruffled at a different angle, eyes a different shade, but his smile just as warm.

Looking around he saw the same summoning circle, his memories flooding back as he embraced Skeppy again.

“SKEPPY! IT WORKED, WE FOUND EACH OTHER AGAIN!” Bad smiled as Skeppy tried pushing the demon off.

“Um, how did you know my name-“ He was cut off as Bad placed two fingers on his forehead, and all the memories returned.

Skeppy cried as he laughed, kissing Bad and spinning him, “It did! It worked, god I love you!”

And that was the first time they died, the cycle working, the curse being true. It’s scary, but they’ll forever be together, however… the curse has side effects.

When too far apart, Bad will lose control of his physical form. Becoming more beast-like, having an immense craving for souls. His claws grow, horns become sharper, and his bite deadlier.

Skeppy, as a soul-bond, is meant to quench Bad’s need and hunger for souls and murder. It’s something innate that demons need and yearn for, that’s why they can’t survive on the surface. Besides the temperature, they need to kill and feast in the nether. Having a bond, it regulates your temperature, physical form, and hunger. Giving Bad the ability to eat mortal food without hassle.

But separated… Bad coughs up diamonds, a sign Skeppy is near or missing him. The shards scratching and causing Bad’s throat to bleed. His hunger taking over his brain more and more, he eats large creatures in an effort to salivate it. Only to throw it up, as it’s not meant for him. He can only eat souls, which for mortals. Is laughably small, light, and keeps his stomach rumbling.

Lately he’s turned to Foolish and begged him for his soul. Since he’s immortal too, he can last longer without an… incident.

-

The last incident, he went mad. It started when he was talking with Etoiles and Foolish, he hunched over and started heaving. Coughing out huge shards of diamond, the other stared worriedly as Foolish placed his hand on Bad. The demon slowly grew in size before growling, he stared at Foolish, four eyes glowing, as he roared jumping onto Foolish and shrieking, almost 20 feet tall. Foolish was an ant compared to him. He could barely keep him back, pushing and trying to wiggle out of Bad’s grasp. He shouted for Etoiles to help as he reached an arm out.

“ETOILES, HELP!” Foolish shouted as Etoiles pulled him out before wrapping a lasso around Bad, tossing him onto his back. Bad shrieked and clawed, acting like a beast. After a couple hours, Foolish was able to get something out of Bad.

“S-Souls. I need- your soul.” Bad grumbled before roaring again. Returning to his primal state.

“Well, he needs your soul. Go on.” Etoiles ushered as Foolish sat on his knees, bowing to Bad.

“Yeah yeah, it isn’t pretty turn around.” Foolish rolled his eyes, as he offered both arms and the back of his neck to Bad.

Etoiles broke the lasso and stood over Foolish, he leapt up before causing a thunderous shake and opening his mouth. Foolish shivered as most of his soul was taken from him, a fourth of his life being sucked away. He fell forward as Etoiles caught him, looking up he saw Bad slowly transforming back. Going back to being 9’6, Bad fell to his side.

So now they have a routine, every 3 months, Bad takes some of Foolish’s soul and no incident occurs. He can’t risk it.

He can’t hurt them again.
