Work Text:
They sat in the dark restaurant, sharing the same side of a booth in Bistro Huddy. Amber’s head laid on Joey’s chest comfortably, small sobs escaping her mouth.
“I knew you were mad at me…” She whispered, her hand clutching his chefs coat. A stray tear fell down her nose
Despite the scowl on his face, Joey rubbed her arm comfortingly, pulling her closer. “‘M not anymore, Amb.”
“But you were, and it made me feel bad.” She explained softly, leaning in to listen to his heartbeat.
“Yeah, yeah.” He played off, but sounded disappointed in himself. “Im real sorry, okay? I know you’re not whoring around. Im just…” He trailed off.
Amber waited a bit before peering up at him, big, sad hazel eyes meeting his. “You’re just what, Joey?”
He used his unoccupied hand the wipe his face tiredly, feeling the underside of his jawline. “I don’t need anyone swooping you up. Someone… Younger and shit.” He looked away, frustrated at his embarrassment.
A moment past before Amber gasped excitedly.
She sat up straight to look at him. “Joey..! You- Did you just admit you don’t want to lose me?”
He looked at her, his eyes narrowing in faux confusion, evident by a smirk creeping up on his face. “Where’d you get that?”
She promptly ignored him and wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing him deeply.
Joey was a little confused why that would make her so happy, but chalked it up to some weird girl thing and kissed back, feeling the sadness and frustration leave them both
They sat in the restaurant together for another hour, kissing and joking and flirting. Joey was happy to be out of the dog house and Amber was happy that Joey was happy.
