Chapter Text

Things have not been going too ace for our attorney. Each night, sleep has evaded the incredibly hot body of poor Phoenix Wright. Each night, a night terror worse than the last. The nightmares got more specific each restless night. He feared his next nightmare would leak his IP address. Not that he really knew what that meant.

He watched his assistant flit around the office, nearly drowning the plant with the amount of water she absent-mindedly poured into the pot. Watching her move so quickly soon gave him a headache. “Hey Maya, take a break, would you?” He called to the girl, and she quickly plopped onto the sofa next to him. “What’s up Nick? You don’t look too good.” Maya commented. Phoenix sighed, “I haven’t been sleeping well lately. Nightmares.” He slumped into the couch. Maya seemed curious. It was clear she wanted to hear more, but the author didn’t want to write her asking. “Well recently there was a weird creature. It was a large cat but…” He trailed off, “it’ll be easier if I draw it out, it’s hard to describe.” Phoenix quickly grabbed a sheet of paper and a pencil and jotted down the creature he was plagued by. After a few minutes he flipped the page so Maya could see.

“Disturbing.” She commented, and she was right. The creature had a cat’s body, but it was longer than it should be. Instead of paws in the front, it had massive talons like a hawk. But the worst part was the head, it was that of a woman. It lacked eyebrows and what features it did have were larger than they should be. Its mouth was almost protruding into its eyes and the eyes were curved up to avoid the mouth. It had greasy black hair that stuck to its face and the rest hung behind the branch Phoenix had drawn it upon. Maya looked at the drawing, clearly unsettled. “I don’t know what to say. I guess ask others what they do to get rid of nightmares” She tossed the drawing aside, shuddering.

“What’s this about, Boss?” Apollo asked. Phoenix looked up from the notebook he had been looking at, “just answer the question Apollo. Wait, do short people not get nightmares?” Apollo did not look amused at his boss's joke. “Well, I don’t know about short people, but I don’t really get nightmares. I haven’t had nightmares since I started to have a nightly routine. I have a glass of warm milk and stretch for about 20 minutes before going to sleep each night.” Phoenix looked at him for a second before hesitantly writing something into his notebook. The two looked to the door as they heard the soft tapping of someone skipping down the hall. A soft singing came as Athena rounded the corner into the office, “I bounce after I p-” Athena cut off, noticing the two in the room. “What’s goin’ on?” She asked. Phoenix shut his notebook, “I’ve been having nightmares and was wondering what others did to get rid of them.” He answered. Athena seemed like the perfect person to ask; she specialized in psychology after all. “It can be helpful to try and decode what the dreams mean. It can also help to establish a nightly routine, just don’t get into something as serial killer-y as Apollo.” She rambled on and on about feelings and memories, but Phoenix wasn’t paying too much attention. Everything she mentioned took time and he didn’t want to sink too much energy into something that’s ultimately just a nuisance. Phoenix got up and walked off as Apollo and Athena continued to talk.

Well, the people at the office weren’t really any help. So, who could Phoenix talk to that could help him? After walking for a while, he found himself outside of the Prosecutor’s Office. This would be perfect, Edgeworth often had nightmares, he must know how to get rid of them.
