Moving in

Summary:

Matty is finally moving into Sebastian's home in Feldcroft!

Notes:

Sorry this took quite a bit, I had other responsibilities to get to!

Work Text:

The train ride to Hogsmeade station was long and Matty was a bit too eager to get off it so she could see Sebastian again already as well as getting the stress of moving in over and done with.

Soon enough, she could see Hogwarts come into view and her heart leapt in her chest. Seeing the castle again made her overjoyed. It was a little odd that she wasn’t coming here for school but in her opinion, she was coming here for something even better.

Finally, the train pulled into the station and it stopped. Matty got her bag from the overheard carrier and began to make her way off of the train. She was sure Sebastian would be there waiting for her.

And surely enough, Sebastian was standing there, craning his neck around to try and find her. Immediately, Matty dropped her bags at the station platform and rushed towards him, calling out his name. “Sebastian!” She exclaimed, practically throwing herself into a hug with him.

It took a split second for Sebastian to notice it was her and he caught her in his arms. Matty’s grip on him was deathly tight—surely she had missed him quite a lot.  “Oh my love, I’ve missed you so much.” She said, her voice muffled by his shoulder.

Sebastian moved her up a bit so that he could kiss her, placing his hand on her cheek. “I missed you too,” He breathed out, his lips barely ghosting her lips. “I’ve been waiting here for an hour.” He admitted.

Matty giggled just a bit. “Someone was eager.”

“Very,” Sebastian replied.

It took a while for Matty’s things to be brought out. But once it was, they loaded it up into an enchanted cart before setting out for Feldcroft. Both of them could be described as “giddy” at the moment. If you passed by them on the path without knowing them, you might think they were a newlywed couple moving into their first home.

They truly were just happy that they could be together every day. Neither of them could comprehend that a duel in fifth year on the first day could turn into something like this. But they could never ask for anything more than what they had. It was simple, but it was exactly what they wanted.

Once they had arrived, they began to unload Matty’s things. “Now comes the hard part.” She sighed. “Actually moving in.”

“Don’t fret, I’m sure with the both of us working together, time will pass by quickly and we’ll be done before you know it,” Sebastian spoke, trying to be encouraging.

“It’d better be,” Matty chuckled, trying to lighten the mood for her own sake. “I’d rather just get it over with already so I can spend the rest of the day with you.”

A faint blush appeared on Sebastian’s cheeks. “Well, I’m glad you value your time with me that much,” he replied cheekily.

“I moved here to spend all of the time I could with you. Of course, I value my time with you.” Matty spoke. “So yes, I’d much rather get this done quickly so we can just be carefree for a while.”

“Well, there’s no time like the present.”

Unfortunately, Sebastian wasn’t exactly correct about the “light work.” In all honesty—they could’ve gotten it all done much quicker if not for the distractions that consistently made them pause their work.

Noticing what was going on, the residents of Feldcroft who didn’t know Matty were knocking on the door to say hello and to welcome her to the hamlet. And for those who did know her, they stopped by to tell her how glad they were that she was here.

They were all a “wonderful distraction” but at one point—Sebastian had to remind Matty that she couldn’t have long and drawn-out conversations with all of them if she wanted to be done with moving in by the end of the day. To which, Matty reluctantly agreed to keep the greetings brief but heartfelt.

She was just happy that so many other people were so welcoming. Although she wouldn’t admit it; she had quite a bit of anxiety over this move. She knew everything would go smoothly but she couldn’t help but worry sometimes. So, these people welcoming her made her feel much better about fitting in at Feldcroft.

Finally, after several hours, everything was finally done. Matty fell back onto Sebastian—and now their shared bed with a small “oof” and let out a sigh. “I’m exhausted.” She sighed, resting her arm over her eyes.

Sebastian chuckled and climbed onto the bed with her, wrapping his arms around her waist. “You’re speaking for the both of us.” He said. “But now that we’re done with that,” he grinned, pulling her in closer by her waist.

“I have a feeling that you worked as hard as you did just so we could get here quickly.” Matty chuckled as Sebastian pulled her closer and kissed her cheek.

“Ah, you know me too well, my darling,” Sebastian said. “But can you blame me? I’d much rather lay in bed with a beautiful woman, who I love very much, in my arms than spend time unpacking boxes.”

Matty just smiled, laying her head on his chest. “Well, I won’t argue with that.” She said in a slight mumble. She was growing rather tired now.

The feeling of being in Sebastian’s arms so peacefully was a whole different world for her. She was actually at peace—unthwarted peace. And she was lying in the arms of her source of peace right now. After so many years of chaos, it was nice to be able to just sit back and relax before the crazy started all over again.

Noticing how tired she was—but also that she was very relaxed, Sebastian smiled a little. “Rest up my love, you’re safe with me.” He assured her, moving to wrap his other arm around her.

“I love you, Sebastian,” Matty said softly against his chest.

“I love you too, Matty.”
