Henry was loving his life at the moment, living at the brownstone, David was being as adorable as usual, everything was perfect and going amazing. At least that’s what he’s telling himself.
It’s not that he’s unhappy he just feels like he’s missing something. He has found himself regressing more and more. He keeps trying to fight it but it’s almost twice a week. He finds himself floating into that headspace everywhere, work, home on the train. He misses Alex. He knows he’s working hard in Washington but he wishes he would come back to Brooklyn. He keeps trying to avoid texting him in littlespace it’s always obvious and he doesn’t like to bug him when’s working.
One day after work he comes home, feeling as shit as per usual. He stomps into the lounge avoiding the few dishes in the sink, it has been weeks since Alex had gone to help is Mom but Henry had gone though an episode. His depression comes back every now and again but this time it hit him like a tidal wave. He hadn’t eaten all day but he didn’t care all he wanted was his binky and his Daddy.
He clawed his way through his pockets trying to pull out his phone. He rummages through pens and chewing gum and empty pill bottles to find it. One he does he opens messages and finds Alex.
ALEX
Daddy I miss you
He waited for about 5 minutes but when he didn’t reply he tried again .
ALEX
Daddy??
He still doesn’t answer so he clicks the call button… straight to voicemail. He drops the phone from his hand landing on the carpet he breaks down, dropping to his knees tears falling down his face. He stays on his knees shuffling to the sofa looking for his blanket. When it wasn’t there he cried even harder pushing his face into a pillow. Henry breathed out a sighing whimper “David?” and when he doesn’t hear the tapping of his paws he sobs even harder.
He hears a key rattling in the lock and his heart races even faster he’s not expecting anyone is he? God he hopes not he can’t be seen like this so when he hears Alex’s soothing voice he feels confused and conflicted “Baby? You home yet?” Henry lets out a broken cry from the living room and Alex comes running.
“Baby? Baby what’s going on?” He says picking up his pace as he sees the discarded dishes in the sink a sure sign of Henry’s depressive episode. “Daddy?” Henry says surprised trying to stand and greet his boyfriend stumbling over a fallen pillow. At that moment Alex grabs him before he hits his head.
“Yeah baby it’s me. What’s going on?” Henry babbles about something slipping into his littlespace. “Daddy!!! Yay!!!” He shouts reaching up for Alex. Alex realises what’s happening and reaches down for him picking him up and holding him tight “Yeah it’s me bud. Are you feeling little right now?” Henry nodded exited and does his adorable little claps. “Ok little one how about we go and find your binky and blanky?” Henry nods again and they make their way to the bedroom. They find Henry’s favourite little blanket and he curls up with it on the bed with it humming and babbling to the Bluey theme tune as per usual. Alex quickly finds his binky and lets him suck on it happily. After a while Alex notices Henry tearing up again and is soon as Alex hears a sniffle he’s right by his side “No little one it’s all ok don’t cry Daddy’s got you” he says softly wiping his tears off quickly “What’s wrong?” He says softly yet firmly Henry sighs “I looses Jon” he says in his adorable voice. Alex giggles “No baby he just here” he says with extra dramatic effect as he pulls Jon up from behind the bed. The excitement and joy on little Henry’s face just warms Alex’s heart so much. His adorable boyfriend being so utterly adorable “How about we go and watch some Bluey? Yeah?” Henry nods very excited.
Alex and Henry lace their fingers together and slowly venture to the lounge slightly delayed by an impromptu game of the floor is lava initiated by Henry. Once they arrive in the lounge they lay together Henry resting his head on Alex’s chest laying between his thighs as Alex stokes his hair softly. They watch a few episodes of Bluey before drifting off together.
The next morning they wake up in Alex’s picture perfect morning, laying together sweetly calmly and happily. He stokes Henry’s head as he wakes “Morning sleepy head how did you sleep?” Henry hums in agreement “Yeah good you?” He says calmly turning himself over to kiss Alex soft and small. “Baby? Can I ask you something?” Henry nods slowly “What’s going on Babe? I noticed the dishes and the clothes in the room.” Henry feels him heart rate rise and his lip slip into his mouth biting it firmly “Uhm…”
