Chapter Text
Ethen’s view
I woke up suddenly, in a van. It looked like there were other teens here too.
‘Where are we? Where are we going? Who’s taking us?’
As more questions filled my head, the van stopped abruptly.
As the other teens woke up, the driver—someone in a mask, probably a guy—barked, “Everybody out!”
People started leaving the van. I hesitated at the exit, fear gripping me. What could be out there? What if it killed me? What if—
The masked figure, obviously annoyed, yanked me out of the van, then led all of us to a large building. Was it a cabin? A mansion? Who would have a mansion out here in the woods? Maybe a rich person?
My thoughts were interrupted when the man growled, “Everyone inside! Now!”
We all shuffled in, and to my surprise, it was the most beautiful place I’d ever seen. A grand fireplace dominated the room, a bear head mounted above it. The place looked like something out of a horror or mystery movie.
Suddenly, a cheery female voice echoed through the room. Everyone turned to see an adult woman descending the stairs.
“HI CAMPERS! I’M SO GLAD TO SEE YOU!” she practically yelled, skipping down the stairs.
“Campers? Who are you? Who are any of these people?” asked one of the teens. They looked like a calico cat—a furry.
“Ahh… so you don’t remember? The crash must have been hard…” Before anyone could ask further, she continued, “The bus everyone was in crashed. Luckily, my friend found you and called me. We hoped nothing bad would happen, but it seems that’s not the case. Anyways! I’m Isabella, your camp counselor! How about you introduce yourself? Your name and something about yourself. As you all know, I’m Isabella, and I love to do this camp every year! Now, you!” She pointed to the furry. “Introduce yourself!”
“I’m Aurora, and I… uh… I’m aroace.”
“I’m Chloe, and I’m a gamer—” she was interrupted.
“I’m also a gamer!”
“And who might you be?” asked Isabella.
“Oh… uh, I’m Amelia.”
“Grace, I love to cook.”
“Olivia. Um… I sew… or… do I skateboard..? Uhhh…”
“I like to knit. Oh, also, I’m Lucas.”
“A boy? Knitting? Ha! Only grandmas knit!” someone mocked.
“And who are you?!” Lucas asked, annoyed.
“I’m Oliver, and I love riding horses.”
“Riding horses is a girl thing,” Lucas
retorted.
While Lucas and Oliver argued, more people introduced themselves.
“Stella, I like to camp.”
“Rowan, I like bats.”
“I’m Sebastian, and I like rain… it’s like the clouds are crying…”
Everyone looked at him.
“What?” he asked.
“Ok… well, I’m Luna, and I love space!”
“Leo, I love DND.”
“Nerd!” someone shouted.
“Uh… I also like DND, and I’m Ethan,” I said shyly, instantly regretting it as I heard some people laugh.
“Benjamin. Don’t call me Ben. I like Barbies.” More laughter followed.
“I’m Alexander. You can call me Alex, or Xander. Especially you ladies.” He made finger guns at the girls. “And I do comedy.”
“Henry, uno,” he said while shaking violently.
“Are you ok?” Stella asked.
“Had a lot of candy… while in the van, and in here.” Everyone then noticed the bag full of candy he had.
“Frank! Please take the candy away from him!” Isabella commanded. The masked man from the van took Henry’s candy away. Henry fainted, probably from a sugar overload.
“I love books. Maya.”
“Sophia, hacker…” she said, eyeing the bag of candy in Frank’s hands with what looked like jealousy.
“James. I do DIY.”
“I love adventure! Oh, also I’m Caleb.”
“Nice to meet you all! Now, the first activity we will do is… A SCAVENGER HUNT!” Isabella announced enthusiastically
