Morning After

Summary:

Hiyori's anxiety almost gets the better of him as he leaves Nagisa's apartment.

Work Text:

The doorhandle is cold to the touch as Hiyori silently lets himself out of Nagisa's apartment. Head bowed low, frigid air stinging at the back of his throat as he steps outside.

" Hiyori-kun, you look so beautiful. You shine so brightly."

Frosty grass crunching and glittering like shards of glass, the obnoxious squeak of shoe meeting earth like nails on a chalkboard.

A-ah! Please, please do that again."

He was Hiyori Tomoe, beloved idol, second son to a noble family. In that apartment though, he was Hiyori who melted at any touch. Behind closed doors, he was as vulnerable as a lamb exposing his belly for the wolf.

"C'mon, Nagisa-kun. Say you love me. I'm worthy of it, after all this, right~"

All he wanted to do was run back, beg to hear the words his heart needed, get so close to Nagisa that they were one being. But they had jobs, responsibilities. Even though they were in the same unit, it was unrealistic to expect them to share every moment together. Despite this, all Hiyori could think about was practically ripping Nagisa's chest open and laying there to sleep.

With every step he took, anxiety stabbed him. The scandal that could erupt, should anyone find out. The thought of another catching his love's eye. The thought of him being too much, too loving, too clingy. Nagisa knew almost everything there is to know about Hiyori, and yet he was so afraid that his heart would be broken. It had been a few minutes since he left, and there were no messages on his phone. Has Nagisa forgotten about him already?

Everyone calls Hiyori the sun, and yet the bright burning in the sky was too much for him. He was afraid it would illuminate everything so much that everyone would see right through him. All he needed was to talk to Nagisa again. Yes, he would be reassured, he would feel okay with being so vulnerable, the cold winter morning would stop being too bright and too loud.

As he turned around, he heard someone shouting his name. Interrupted, by a first year presumably (who else would have such careless manners?), he sighed and put on his cheerful mask. The anxiety would have to wait until he was alone again, because he had to be Hiyori the idol right now.
