Work Text:

"NO!" Chiara shouted, deftly avoiding her friend - how many times do I have to repeat this?

Their school hosted an annual end-of-year ball. Chiara had never attended it, except last year when she was assigned to help. She didn't feel like going, but she did so when her behavior grade was threatened. She didn't like it there one bit. The music was crap, the atmosphere was hopeless and the decorations were tacky, not to mention the fact that she had to watch her dear little sister dance with that oversized potato for two hours. It was definitely an experience she didn't want to repeat for anything in the world.

This year, she was going to spend the day of the prom like almost always - alone, under a blanket, with her favorite TV series, a pizza that she didn't have to share with anyone, and her favorite tomato juice. However, something, or rather someone, thwarted her plans.

That someone was none other than her old childhood friend, Antonio Fernandez Carriedo. They had known each other practically since the sandbox, but broke off contact when they went to different schools. Unfortunately for her, when they went to high school, they met again, and the boy began to push for reconnection. Chiara didn't agree at first - she always had a difficult character, but she didn't manage to make any friends in her old school, which had a negative impact on her character and she became even more distrustful than before. However, Antonio did not give up. The girl was secretly impressed by the boy's persistence, but of course she never admitted it. Ultimately, it ended with the boy often coming to her classroom to talk to her, and she often responded rudely or sarcastically, but it didn't seem to bother him too much.

Either way, he always went to those big parties that she avoided like the plague. It didn't bother him that he didn't invite anyone because he always went with his friends, and the three of them, called the bad Touch Trio, were always surrounded by a group of girls. Chiara didn't mind this arrangement, because it's no exaggeration - she? Jealous of him? Your sides could burst with laughter. This year, however, it was a bit different. Namely, this stupid man decided to invite her, Chiara Lovina Vargas, to the ball! Of course she refused, without swearing at him. However, Antonio did not give up and kept trying, and Chiara was still adamant. So it was this time.

"I already said! I do not want to go! Not with you, not with anyone!" the girl explained, pointing her fist straight at the boy's face. Anticipating her move, he ducked so that her hand wouldn't hurt him.

"But what's the problem, Lovi?" he asked, dodging the second blow sent his way.

"Don't call me like that!" the girl pouted, ignoring the question. She hated the nickname he came up with for her middle name.

"Answer me. Is the problem that you can't dance?" He asked. The girl snorted at this suggestion.

"I? I can not dance? I guarantee you I dance better than anyone you've ever seen in your damn life!" she screamed. Antonio was a bit surprised by the explosion, but a plan was formed in his head.

"If you can dance, the best thing you can do is prove it to me and everyone else at the ball. I don't believe you're capable of this," he said with a smile. He knew hurting her pride might be a good idea.

"And you'll see! I'll prove it," she snorted.

"Okay! So I'll see you at the ball" he said and fled, afraid of the girl's reaction to the words he had said earlier. As he was running away, he heard a call:

"Wait! Fuck, you got me into this situation, I won't forgive you!"

Fortunately, the lesson bell saved Antonio.

***

Chiara, as she arranged her dark curls, had only one thing in her head: "I don't know how it happened." Perhaps she listened to Feliks's music too much. But that wasn't important at the moment. The girl could be accused of many things, but not that she didn't keep her promises. And even if they did, Alice had already heard it and spilled the beans to their mother, who even forced her older daughter. She believed that her older daughter should follow the example of her younger daughter and spend more time with her friends.

The doorbell suddenly interrupted her thoughts. With a long-suffering face, she dragged herself to the entrance where her friend was to pick her up. She opened the door

"Shall we go? "She asked, hiding her blush. There was no denying that he tried hard for her. She had already thought he wasn't the worst, but his elegant clothes made him even more charming. She blushed slightly and tried to hide it.

"Wow, Lovi, you look really beautiful today," he said quietly, completely entranced by her. Of course, Chiara didn't prepare like that for him, there's no chance. The reason she wore her best green dress that matched her eyes was of course to look better than her sister, Alice. And she only wore make-up because that particular sister insisted she needed it. It was the same with her hair, it wasn't like she had to ask Alice to do her hair, nonsense! Either way, the girls' efforts must have paid off because the boy kept scanning her with his eyes.

"What are you looking at?" she growled."And don't call me Lovi!"

She grabbed his wrist and started walking towards the school, trying not to step on her dress. Antonio tried to keep up with her, making the time more miserable with his stupid jokes and stories. After some time, they reached the school building. The boy wanted to open the door for her like a gentleman, but instead of entering first, she pushed through the entrance. The door to the hall where the event was taking place was open. Chiara unconsciously grabbed Antonio's hand as she entered the room.

"It's kind of stupid for me to come here. Do I really have it right in my head?" she asked herself in her mind.

Getting no answer, she sat down with her partner. Francis and Gilbert sat down next to them. As soon as the first one saw the couple, he turned to the white-haired man

"Ha, I told you they would be together! You owe me hundred dollars."

Gilbert took out his wallet with a suffering expression. Chiara was about to ask what that meant, but behind them she noticed a terrible sight that rivaled the dropping of an atomic bomb. Her sister was kissing that potato in the middle of the room! She wanted to run in there and punch him right in the face, but Antonio stopped her. She cursed the boy, but he didn't let her go until she calmed down.

When her younger sister got tired of making out with the potato, she sat next to Chiara, praising her appearance and her work. But Antonio disappeared somewhere. She scanned the room with her eyes. Nothing had changed in the room's decor, and the students were dressed the same as last year - men in suits and women in tulle dresses.

She looked at her partner, to whom there was already a queue of eager girls. From what she could tell from their gestures and mouth movements, they were trying to drag him to the dance floor, but he was steadfastly refusing. Chiara remembered why she came here in the first place.

"I was supposed to show him how to dance. But I won't stand in that line, he has to start," she said to herself. Unfortunately for her, Alice heard it.

"You will dance with Antonio! Cool! I'll have to record you. I'm sure you'll look beautiful together, I've been shipping you since kindergarten..." the girl's further words were brutally drowned out by Chiara's hand.

Suddenly the boy turned his gaze to the girl. She felt as if he was staring straight into her soul. Antonio said goodbye to his company and then approached Chiara.

"Well, it's time to dance," he said and grabbed her hand. She didn't try to pull away, this was the moment she had been waiting for.

The boy placed his hand on the girl's waist and they both started dancing to the rather slow music. Oh's eyes met and Chiara looked down, blushing.

"We'll dance all night long," Antonio whispered to her.

"It's not possible until the fun lasts that long," Chiara snorted. However, her partner didn't answer, he just grabbed her tighter.

When the last bars of the music sounded, the boy spun his irritated partner around and bowed. Chiara just sighed in dissatisfaction. She wanted to ask him how it went, but he had already escaped and was talking to the blonde girl. I think her name was Laura and she was wearing a beautiful purple tulle dress. Chiara was filled with jealousy. And that beautiful blonde hair. She didn't know that most people considered her one of the most beautiful women, but most people were afraid to tell her. Antonio was the only one who dared, which was not without consequences.

"Oh, now I understand! I don't care about him at all. He came here with me to have a cover to meet her, right? We'll see how it turns out," she muttered to herself. There was no denying that she was paranoid and quite paranoid. She approached the boy and pulled him away from the interlocutor.

"I knew you were a simpleton and a boor, I can smell those types," she hissed when they were alone.

"Hey, I didn't do anything" the boy defended himself " I just wanted to talk. And now I have time to congratulate you, you danced really great."

The girl looked down, a little embarrassed.

"How do you think I did?" Antonio continued.

“A solid 2/10,” Chiara said dryly, and he laughed.

"Oh, I have one more question, it's been bothering me for a long time" the boy remembered - would you go out with me soon?

The girl couldn't help but roll her eyes.

"The first meeting hasn't ended yet and you're already inviting me to the next one?"

"Yes," he answered honestly.

"Well then, let it be."

"Yay! I have a date!"

"Hey, I didn't say anything about the date, you idiot!" the blushing girl shouted.

" Yes, yes."

A comfortable silence fell between them, which was abruptly broken by another loud song. They both stood up.

“I guess I'll go now,” said woman

-" What? Why? After all, the party is just getting started, the man couldn't believe."

"I showed you what I had. Now it's time to go home."

"Hey, don't go yet! "Antonio called out, but to no avail. Then he remembered the fact that could have saved him "they were going to serve pizza!"

The girl stopped and slowly turned around.

"Pizza?"

"Yes. Maybe you'll stay?" he asked.

"Ehh, okay. But only for food!"

They spent the rest of that evening together. And maybe it wasn't the worst evening of Chiara's life after all.
