Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

Astel and his fellow aliens sit out and gaze at the distant skies. The stars sprinkled all around the galaxies twinkled bright, neighboring heavenly bodies visible among the vast darkness of the sky.

At times like this, he wasn't quite sure what to feel. Melancholic just wasn't right, probably reminiscent? But the peculiar way Astel looked at the vast emptiness of everything had his friends staring at him. After all, they can't have the abyss looking back at that one alien.

"Astel, you've seen the Moon clearly when you were on Earth, right?" An alien spoke, "Is it as pretty as how the tech logs tell it to be? So pretty that your eyes would be glued to it, as they said."

The named person smiled, eyes shutting close as if he were trying to imagine what the Moon looked like again.

"Hm... It truly was spectacular." He hummed, reaching a hand way up high. Astel had no special marks in the sky that could tell him where Earth was, but he knew he was reaching out for this planet. "But, as pretty as it was, I can't say my vision ever stuck to the Moon for so long."

The other let out a sigh.

"Ah. I guess the Moon isn't really that pretty, huh."

"What? I didn't call it spectacular for no reason, haha. It's not like that..." Astel trailed off, "It's just that... I found someone way more attractive than the Moon ever would be. And when the moonlight's rays shone on him, I would think that he's the prettiest being I've ever seen."

Another entity had overheard their conversation, and suddenly sat next to Astel, eyes glowing with excitement.

"Someone that's even prettier than the Moon? So like.. a human that created the Moon!? Astel? You met the moon God!?"

Astel slapped a hand on his mouth, trying not to laugh at the assumption.

"The God of the Moon, huh... He must be something that's out of this dimension then." The other alien murmured.

Astel let out a long exhale and laid down, his back hitting against the solid platform.

'His kindness was what got me here today.'
"He had interstellar levels of being a prick."

'His voice was the only tune that I could listen to for the entirety of my life.'
"He wouldn't make the most out of his talents."

'He was way cuter than the things he found cute.'
"He cares more about other creatures rather than the planet that he created."

'Whenever I was with him, I felt like I was finally with someone who could truly understand me.'
"I never really understood this God."

Astel clearly remembered each and every single second that he spent with Izuru while they watched the Moon from the shore. Thousands of memories about nothing but emotions flooded his mind. From the first fight they had that could have destroyed their friendship— to the one and only time he confessed to Izuru about his feelings. Dancing like drunkards, gossiping around like teenage girls, go constellation viewing like little kids, all of it, he's done at that very location. The beach was practically his house already, but Izuru was the factor that turned that house into his home.

Astel, who had spent countless nights with Izuru, who should've been watching the Moon instead of Izuru—
He would give up everything he had currently, just to go back and be with him again.

The two other aliens loomed over Astel, meeting him eye-to-eye.

"Astel, you sound like you're going through a lot of denial right now."

Tears began to prick his eyes.

"This man you're speaking of..."

He brings his sleeved arm to his head, covering his eyes to hide all of what he felt.

"Sorry, I think I really like the God of the Moon after all."
