Work Text:

It was hard enough getting to work, but it's even worse once you've gotten there. The Pizzaplex may be dark as hell at night but that does not mean that the flashlight isn't horrible, the ambient sounds aren't horrible and everything smells like a million times stronger than it usually is, not to mention that you have to patrol the fucking daycare with its song thats so loud and on loop constantly. Plus the lights are current on so its like a giant fuck you from the world.

You walk around in the shadows as much as you can, squinting and wishing that the song wasn't so loud. Your head hurts and there's spots in your vision from how bright it is. You don’t even dare to get closer to the actual play area because as much as you adore Sun he is just so. So loud.

Pulling your zip up coat closer to you, you walk into one of the bathrooms, nausea crawling its way up your throat. The throbbing in your head is so violent and sharp. You look at yourself over the sink, the bathroom is dark at least other than the lights above the sink. You look ragged, like you haven't showered in weeks. Which you really haven't, water has felt more like fire and it makes you feel like you are being scratched all over.

Its easy to ignore how you look when your job is walking around in the dark, but the circles under your eyes just keep getting darker. You aren’t sleep deprived, you can sleep whenever you want and you just don’t need to! There's better things to be doing.

After splashing some water on your face and dry heaving for a few minutes you feel great! Wonderful even! You walk out of the bathroom totally ready to face the day when a violent heavy feeling settles in your head like a fog, the world feels off kilter even though you can see everything perfectly fine. Your steps feeling heavier than usual you make your way towards the incredibly bright play area which feels like you are staring directly into the fucking Sun.

Oh wait that is him, you wave, your entire body throbbing with pain. You feel so sore and weak, frail like an old person without their walker.

“Dewdrop?” Sun's loud voice calls as your knees give out, the world spinning slightly as the lights shut off to dark. Which is just heaven, sweet relief. But you’ve got to get back to work there's no reason to be so dramatic about this sort of thing its no big deal you just need a glass of water or something!

Sun's transformation into Moon is so incredibly loud as the gears click and shift over, making you want to cry. A feather light touch rests itself on your shoulder, it's cold and so incredibly relaxing.

“Starshine, are you well?” Moon's voice is much quieter than usual, a soft whisper. You can’t even form words and all you get is a whimper. You shouldn’t be acting this way, it's just a headache you are being far too dramatic. “...Oh little lamb, come here.” Moon speaks softly, so so comforting.

His long arms wrap around you into a hug, he's so cold it calms your sore body. You let out an ugly soundless sob, which comes out like a desperate gasp for air. You just hurt so much. Moon hushes you and stands up with you in his arms. “Let's lay down, you need to rest.”

He takes you up on the wire, the sudden movement making you gag while he rubs your back as you cling onto him. “...It’s alright sweet star… just a minute.” Moon says walking in him and Sun's room, there's a mattress in the corner that you had moved up there so they had somewhere comfortable to charge on, half of it is practically blankets and pillows. The dim fairy lights are still too much.

Moon sets you down on the bed, shutting the dim lights off and taking off your hat. He hands you a bottle of water, which you stare at in disdain. There's no way you are getting that down in the slightest, your stomach twists just at the thought of it.

“You need to drink water, then can we cuddle… Would that be nice, little lamb?” Moon asks so sweetly you can’t even think of turning him down as much as it will be hard for you to drink this water.

You take the lid off with shaking hands and try to chug the water which just resulted with you spitting it out, and shaking harder. Moon tuts and grabs a cloth to wipe your face.

“...You must drink slower, just the one bottle.”

You drink the bottle slowly this time and then lay on the cozy bed. As much as you should be working all you can think of is sleeping and you haven't slept very well at all. Waking up every half hour or hour while sleeping without a pillow or blanket. It's just so comfortable.

Moon lies down next to you, holding you close to his chest. He's so cold it's like laying on tile but softer. The pain is strong still but this distraction is enough for you to get to sleep, just for the time being. Just for now you can enjoy Moon's embrace as the room is just the right kind of silence for you to close your eyes and fall asleep.
