But maybe... perhaps it was fate that brought them together... again?

Chapter 1: It's Me

Chapter Text

Sunrays bit by bit enlighten the room, throwing all its warmth through every corner, trying to wake up the lad that was still peacefully exploring his dreamland. But as a matter of fact, Jihoon was not a morning person. Usually, he would wake up around 10, but guess he was sorta lucky that day.

Slowly opened his eyes that were still heavy, his hand automatically reached to a nightstand beside his bed, looking for his phone. After he gained some consciousness, he looked at his phone screen that displayed the time — 7:45 AM . Still not aware of the situation, he closed his eyes again, after all he was still sleepy. But a moment after that, he suddenly opened his eyes wide.

“Fuck!”

Jihoon suddenly jumped out of his bed, grabbed a towel, and ran to the bathroom in a rush. Five minutes after that he came out, only with a sheet of towel covering his lower body and grains of water covering some parts of his body. He opened his drawer, putting on his uniform as quickly as he could. Then he took a quick step to a small fridge. He opened it, a little disappointed because only a single banana he spotted could fill his stomach at that time.

“I shouldn’t have eaten the bread last night, damnit!” He said, peeved while peeling the banana a little harshly. He shoved the banana into his mouth then still in a rush wore his shoes. Done battling with his shoes, he then sprinted out from his dormitory —lucky because his room is on the 2nd floor, so it was not too far to reach the main door. He sprinted to his school building which had a distance of 200 meters from the dormitory.

Climbing up the stairs to reach his classroom on the 3rd floor, he finally arrived in front of his classroom just before the bell rings. But there was something unusual that morning. He saw many female students —some of male students were also there, crowded in front of the classroom next to Jihoon’s class. They were trying to take a peep into the classroom, like there was something exceptional inside there.

The crowd was also spreading to the front of Jihoon’s class, making him struggle a bit when he tried to enter his class. After he got squeezed between the crowd, he finally managed to step into his classroom. He then walked to his seat; he saw his seatmate was talking to someone familiar.

“Hey, Jeon Wonwoo!” Jihoon called his seatmate, pique was heard clearly in his voice.

The one named Jeon Wonwoo just turned his head calmly. He looked at Jihoon for a second before turning back to the one he was talking to earlier. “Let’s talk about this later.”

The tall guy who Wonwoo was talking to responded with a nod then took a step out of the class. After the guy left, Wonwoo looked at Jihoon again. “What’s the matter?” He asked without any glimpse of guilt.

“ “What’s the matter” you say? I'm almost late because of you!” Jihoon threw the banana peel from his breakfast to Wonwoo’s face, which the glasses guy just laughed it off and that made Jihoon even more irritated.

“WHAT ARE YOU ALL DOING? DON’T YOU HEAR THE BELL IS RINGING?” A teacher's voice was heard shouting from the corridor making all the crowd of students there immediately scattered and going to their respective classes.

“What’s with them crowding like that in front of the class next door?” Jihoon asked Wonwoo while sitting on his seat.

“I heard there is a transfer student at the class next door.”

“Huh? But other transfer students never got that big reaction, what’s so special about this transfer student?” Jihoon looked even more confused. Wonwoo just shrugged his shoulders and answered, “I don’t really know.”

“All right, class, let’s start the learning.” Their teacher said after stepping into their class, preventing Jihoon from saying something to Wonwoo again.

~*~*~*~

“Oh my God, hyung! Can you please eat slowly? You eat like some kind of barbarian.” Seungkwan scolded Jihoon when seeing him eating like he hadn’t eaten for several days. It was recess time. Jihoon with his other five friends —Jeonghan, Jisoo, Wonwoo, Seungkwan, and Chan were having lunch at the cafeteria.

“I’m starving. I only had a banana this morning because of this guy—” Jihoon pointed at Wonwoo who was not even bothered by that and just ate his lunch calmly. “He left me and did not even try to wake me up. I was almost late this morning.” Jihoon continued with an irritated face.

“I already told you that there is something I need to discuss with the student council and the teacher, so I need to go earlier this morning. You even saw me talking to Mingyu at the class earlier. You won’t even want to go with me at 7AM, won’t you?” Wonwoo responded, once again not even a glimpse of guilt was seen on his face and heard from his voice.

“Yes, hyung. You can’t always depend on Wonwoo hyung to always wake you up. You shouldn’t stay up all night every time!” Seungkwan scolded again. Even though he was younger, he had the mouth of a grandma. He could scold you non-stop, no matter how much older you were to him.

“I need to finish my song.” Jihoon said with his mouth full and kept spooning food into his small mouth.

“You still asking Youngjae hyung for help?” Jeonghan asked.

“Of course, he is the only professional songwriter I know and he is also already working with several artists. If I can get an approval from him, maybe I can get my song to be sung by some singers too.” Jihoon explained.

A little introduction of Jihoon’s group of friends. First is Jeon Wonwoo. He and Jihoon first met as a roommate in their first year and then unexpectedly they were also classmates in their second year. A little fact about Wonwoo, he was a student council president. Smart and a book worm wearing glasses, that’s probably how you can perfectly describe Jeon Wonwoo. Yoon Jeonghan and Hong Jisoo were Jihoon’s upperclassmen. Jihoon met them when he joined the music club. Same goes with Boo Seungkwan. They met when Seungkwan joined the club. The four of them got closer and started to hang out outside the club. And lastly, Lee Chan. He was Seungkwan’s classmate and was not familiar with the other four, but Seungkwan always brought him along to hang out with them and just like that, Chan already became a part of their circle of friends.

“OH MY GOD! HE’S HERE!”

The attention of all the people at the cafeteria were distracted by a female student’s shout. Some of the female students even ran to the entrance of the cafeteria. And after a moment, three figures of male students were seen stepping inside the cafeteria. They were all good-looking and you may think that it was them and their good-looking faces that attracted all the attention of people there. But all the attention was only on one of them. A face that had never been seen around the school with features of sharp slanted eyes, narrow sharp nose, plump lips, and a sharp jawline. Even though he was not even as taller as the other two guys that were walking with him, he had this charismatic aura that attracted people to take a glance at him as he was walking.

“That’s the new transfer student?” Jihoon asked, eyes following as the transfer student walked, trying to figure out what was so special about him that it took all the attention of people.

“I think so,” Wonwoo said. He continued to his lunch, not minding all the chaos that happened around him.

“Who is he? Why are people going crazy with his presence?”

“Seriously, hyung? Are you living under a rock or something? Don’t you know he is Kwon Hoshi?” Seungkwan asked, with unbelief on his face, looking at Jihoon. But that was just making Jihoon even more confused. “I’m sorry, who?”

“Hyung, he is Kwon Hoshi! A really famous dancer and choreographer, all people are always talking about him these days.” This time, it was Chan who responded. Same as Seungkwan, he was looking at Jihoon with an unbelief on his face. And when a moment like this came, you would never doubt why Seungkwan and Chan were friends.

“Right! Oh my gosh, hyung, you can see all his videos trending on YouTube! He is the rising hot dancer, Kwon Hoshi!” Seungkwan shoving his phone towards Jihoon’s face, which the screen was displaying a YouTube video of someone dancing —Jihoon guessed that was Kwon Hoshi. At the bottom of the video was written the numbers of many views that video had gotten —more than 2 millions of people watched that video.

“Look at this too! He even got to collaborate with a choreographer from America. He is so fucking awesome!” Chan said excitedly while also shoving his phone that was displaying a photo of that Kwon Hoshi guy with an African American guy beside him from an Instagram page. But even after he got shoved with many things that Seungkwan and Chan told him excitedly, it did not help to get rid of the confusion on Jihoon’s face, he wasn’t getting any clue at all.

“You’re so helpless, hyung.” Seungkwan commented, giving Jihoon a pity look, giving up to even trying to give him more clues. “Now, look at that! It’s only his first day, but he is already friends with Kim Mingyu and Lee Seokmin, and now they are taking him to the ‘Hot Guys’ table.” Seungkwan said while eyeing Kwon Hoshi with the other two guys — Kim Mingyu and Lee Seokmin walking to a table where there were four male students sitting there and welcoming them.

Speaking of the ‘Hot Guys’, a little introduction about them, maybe you would think the name sounds so corny. But it was actually not them that called themselves ‘Hot Guys’. Because they were the most popular and handsome boys in the entire school and they also liked to hang out with each other, that was why other people started to call them the ‘Hot Guys’. They consisted of Choi Seungcheol, Kim Mingyu, Lee Seokmin, Choi Hansol, Moon Junhui, and Seo Myungho.

Choi Seungcheol was a 3rd year student. Other students knew him as the famous soccer team captain. And little did people know, Choi Seungcheol was dating Yoon Jeonghan. They knew each other since their 1st year where they joined the soccer club together —before joining the music club, Jeonghan was the vice-captain of the soccer team, leading the team together with Seungcheol. Of course, the only people who knew about this relationship were only their best friends.

Next, Kim Mingyu, a 2nd year student. If you were talking about tall, handsome, and smart, that’s Kim Mingyu. Not only students’ favorite but also teachers’ favorite. An ideal student and he was also a vice-president of the student council —Wonwoo’s working partner and also his academic rival because they both were always aiming for the spot as top student. He was also almost becoming a student council president if it weren’t for Wonwoo to win with 4 votes more than him. And one more thing about Kim Mingyu, despite him being everyone’s favorite, Jeon Wonwoo did not like him that much. To other people Mingyu seemed like a perfect boy, but to Wonwoo he was just a clumsy and annoying person.

Next is Lee Seokmin. Another 2nd year student and Mingyu’s classmate. He was a member of music club and also known as “The Musical King”. Last year he performed in a musical for their school festival and everyone had been calling him that title since then. His performance and powerful voice blew everyone away and made girl students go even more crazy over him.

The next one is Choi Hansol. He was a 1st year student and also Seungkwan and Chan’s classmate. The fact that he was a Korean-American with a really attractive face already got everyone’s attention at the first moment he stepped into this school. And not only attracting the girls, apparently, he was also attracting Boo Seungkwan. If you were Chan who always stuck with Seungkwan, you would hear everyday how he was always so obsessed with Choi Hansol.

And lastly are Moon Junhui and Seo Myungho. Both were 2nd year students and from the same class. Both were also transfer students from China and both were joining the dance club together. Everyone in the school said both of them were always sticking with each other. When you saw Moon Junhui, you would see Seo Myungho and vice versa.

“Why are people always so obsessed with that ‘Hot Guys’ gang anyways? It’s ridiculous.” Jihoon commented. Not even interested to glance at that table and was just minding his lunch.

“There’s a reason why people are obsessed with them. Just look at them and then look at us! You see the point?” Seungkwan said.

“I still don’t get the point. What makes them any different from us? We have Jeonghan hyung here, he is also quite popular and even dating that guy, Choi Seungcheol. Jisoo hyung is also quite popular, even Lee Seokmin has a huge crush on our Jisoo hyung. And look at that, he is even glancing at Jisoo hyung right now.” Jihoon took a glance at the ‘Hot Guys’ table, pointing with his glance at a particular guy named Lee Seokmin who had been staring for a while at their table —at someone to be precise. Six of Jihoon’s friends then turned their heads at the same time towards that particular table, making Seokmin immediately shift his glance away with a slight panic obviously seen on his face. Jihoon, Seungkwan, and Chan giggling at that reaction.

“Stop teasing him, you guys!” Jisoo said sternly.

“Oooh! What is this? Jisoo hyung, you're now defending him? How lovely!” Seungkwan said to Jisoo with a teasing tone in his voice.

“Maybe we should tell Seokmin about it later at the music club, he would be happy as hell.” Jihoon also joined in teasing Jisoo, then he and Seungkwan started giggling again. Jisoo just rolled his eyes, gave up to counter them, he just knew their friends would not stop to tease him.

“Look at Hansol… I wonder how someone can always look that good every day?” After some moments, Seungkwan said while his eyes’ direction was at the said person.

“When will you stop thirsting over him? If you are that obsessed with Hansol just talk to him already! He even sits in front of you in class!” Chan said frustratingly. He was tired of hearing Hansol's name coming out of his best friend’s mouth every minute.

“You don’t understand. It’s not that easy!” Seungkwan said and the rest of their lunch was filled with endless bickering from Seungkwan and Chan.

~*~*~*~

“Are you going home?” Jihoon asked while walking with Wonwoo beside him. Their last class period had just ended, and they were walking out of their class.

“No, I still have a meeting with the student council. Ugghh that stupid Kim Mingyu!” Wonwoo groaned in frustration. “He accidentally deleted our proposal file for sports day, now we all need to redo it again. I can’t believe that idiot is the vice-president. Why even people chose him?”

Instead of feeling bad towards his friend, Jihoon let out a snicker. “Cheer up, mate!” Jihoon said while tapping Wonwoo’s shoulder. Instead of sounding like a support, his word was more like a mockery which made Wonwoo roll his eyes.

Both of them then parted ways at the corridor junction. While Wonwoo went to the meeting room of the student council, Jihoon was heading to the music club room. He pulled out his phone that was already attached with the earphone and put that earphone on both his ears. He played a song —a song he had been working on.

Another fact about Lee Jihoon, he had this hobby of composing music and had been dreaming of becoming a music producer. That was why in every chance he could, he was always trying to make songs. This was also the reason he joined the music club since that club provided equipment he needed to compose songs.

While his ears are listening to the music, his fingers tapping on a Note App on his phone. He was noting any flaws he noticed and things that he could improve for his song. He was too focused on the song he was listening to and the notes he typed that he did not notice someone from the opposite direction. That someone was bringing a stack of heavy books, seemed not to be aware either of Jihoon walking to his direction.

THUMP!

A loud thump was heard filling that corridor. Books were all scattered on the floor.

“SORRY! I’m so sorry I didn’t see you there…” Jihoon said without looking at the person in front of him and immediately crouching down to help pick up those books.

“Jihoonie?”

“Huh?” Jihoon lifted his head upon hearing an unfamiliar voice from the person in front of him calling his name. As he thought, the person in front of him was neither his friend nor someone he ever met, but how dare they call him ‘Jihoonie’ like they were familiar with each other. But utmost, the most shocking thing was that person in front of Jihoon was that new transfer student which people called Kwon Hoshi or whatever his name was, that caused some chaos today in this school.

But how did he know Jihoon?

“You are Jihoonie, right? Lee Jihoon?” that Kwon Hoshi guy asked. They were still crouching down on the floor with some books in their hands, eyes staring at each other.

“Y-yes, I am…. But who—”

“It’s me! Do you remember? Kwon Soonyoung!”

“S-sorry, I don’t—”

“I like Jihoonie.”

Jihoon could feel his mind go blank for a moment. Did he just get confessed by someone he just met? Something he never thought would happen to him. Maybe it was a slight panic he felt and the only thing that came to his mind was to say, “Sorry, I think you've mistaken me for someone else.”. He immediately gave those books from his hands and took a step quickly to the music club room that was not far from there.

The music club room door was open and some of Jihoon’s friends were seen peeking their heads out. The loud thump from before must be provoking their curiosity to see what happened outside the room.

“Hyung, did you just talk to Kwon Hoshi?” Seungkwan spontaneously asked when Jihoon just walked to the room.

“Is he actually someone you knew? He keeps looking at you while you walk here.” This time Jeonghan asked him.

“I-I don’t know! I don’t know him!” Jihoon trying to avoid any more questions about what happened, he immediately sat down in front of a table with a computer and MIDI controller, and immediately put on the headphones. He wanted not to mind what just happened, but his mind could not stop playing the scene.

“I like Jihoonie.”

What the fuck was that? Why did he say that? Was this guy actually confessed to him? But they had not even met before, but how did he know Jihoon’s name? Jihoon could not figure it out yet. New questions kept coming to his mind but none of them had answers.

Kwon Soonyoung?

Jihoon kept repeating that name in his head.

Kwon Soonyoung….

Kwon Soonyoung…

Kwon Soonyoung.

And somehow that name sounded more and more familiar to him.
