Work Text:

It was supposed to be another normal hunt. Bobby had told them about a possible Leprechaun sighting, and the chase led them to Cleveland, Ohio. That’s where things started to go wrong.

Their first mistake was going into the sketchy looking building, although in their defense it was Ohio. The moment both of them went in, Gabriel appeared.

“I hope you like Taylor Swift, because you're about to get a fun little surprise.” Gabriel laughed before teleporting them into a dark area.

“Where are we?” Sam asked Dean while looking around. “It looks like… the back of a stage?”

That’s when they noticed two things: Sam was dressed like a backstage assistant, while Dean had become Taylor Swift right before the beginning of the first night of the Eras Tour.

“How are we going to get out of this?” Sam whispered to Dean as more people got him ready for the show. “You don’t even know any of her songs.”

Dean looked at Sam after he said that. “Sammy, have you ever looked at any of the music I own?”

“Yeah, none of it’s Taylor Swift though.” Sam laughed before adding onto that. “Unless you have a secret stash of music you keep hidden from everyone.”

“Actually, Cas is the one who owns all of the Taylor Swift music. I just happen to have all of his albums stored in the Impala so they’re kept safe.” Dean looked around to see if anyone was listening to their conversation before continuing. “He’s really excited for her new album that’s being released.”

Sam stared at Dean in shock. “You do realize that you basically own them now, right? Also, do you even like her music?”

“Hey, her music is a masterpiece, and she has some really moving messages in her songs. Also, Cas likes her music a lot, so he forces me to listen to it. His favorite is Sparks Fly, but I prefer Delicate.” Dean defended himself.

“Taylor, it’s time for you to get on stage.” A person walked up to Dean and ushered him to the rising platform. As the platform began to rise, Dean got in position and the show began.

While Dean was performing, Sam was scrambling to find a way for them to escape. With no other ideas, he called for Cas.

“What is it, Sam?” Cas looked confused after looking at their surroundings. “Why are we backstage at a Taylor Swift concert, and where is Dean?”

“Dean is Taylor Swift right now, and Gabriel is the reason we’re here.” Right after Sam finished explaining what was happening, Cas started looking for a way out, only to be blocked by whatever Gabriel had done.

“I think Dean has to finish the show successfully for us to go back.” Cas looked towards the screen of the stage right as Dean started the Speak Now set.

Right after the end of the show they all teleported into the Impala, which was parked at a gas station. While Sam was in the gas station getting snacks for them, Cas spoke up.

“Do you know why I like Sparks Fly so much?” Cas locked eyes with Dean as he asked the question.

Dean looked confused by the question. “I don’t know. I figured it’s because the song is catchy.”

Cas looked nervous for a moment before confessing. “It’s because the song reminds me of you. Dean, I love you.”

“I love you too, Cas. It took me a while to realize, but I knew from the moment you died for the first time. The fear I felt when I lost you, and the relief I felt when you came back, helped me realize that I don’t just see you as a friend.” Dean looked relieved to finally admit his feelings to Cas.

Right as the two leaned closer, Sam arrived with the snacks. “As much as I hate to interrupt you two, we should go now. The FBI noticed us, and will definitely try to arrest us.”

As they drove away, Cas brought up something. “It was supposed to be a surprise, but I bought night one Arizona Eras Tour tickets for the two of you. I’m not sure if you want them anymore, since you were just there.”

Sam laughed before looking at Cas. “I’ll give my ticket to you. I think you and Dean would appreciate the concert more than I would, and I don’t think I can go near that stadium again without feeling paranoid.”

“Looks like we’re going on a date then, Cas.” Dean grinned while looking back at him.

“Yes, looks like it.” Cas smiled back.

The two of them headed off to Arizona once the time for the concert came, and together they headed towards the beginning of something new. New, but not at all unwelcome.
