The first time Eddie saw you, it was in your shared english class. Rushing in right before the bell rang and plopping down in the empty seat next to you. Noticing you didn't notice the ruckus next to you, your nose buried in a book and you're glasses slid down to the middle of the bridge of your nose.
You paid little attention to class that day, as it was the first day of senior year in your new school, and it was just a little "getting to know your classmates" kind of day. One of the few days in school you weren't interested in.
The second time Eddie saw you was in the rarely used drama room. And long cord trailing along on the ground around you, a decent sized amp, you in a chair, and a bass guitar in your arms. A pencil was held between your teeth, and Eddie noticed the notebook on the amp in front of you.
Eddie watched for a bit, watching as your experienced fingers plucked the strings with furrowed eyebrows. Your actions occasionally stopped and scribbled down a few things in your notebook, and then the beauty of your song flowed from the amp. Eddie fell in love with the bass-heavy heavy metal that your wonderfully slender fingers plucked and pressed into the strings.
Eddie lost track of time for how long he'd been watching you. Snapping out of his trance when the younger of his Hellfire club ran into his back.
"What the hell, man?!" Dustin yelled, peaking into the room. "You ain't even got the table set up!!"
"Shush!" Eddie waved the freshmen off, breaking eye contact with your frame before looking back over.
When you looked back over, you looked like deer in headlights. You stood up slowly and pushes your glasses up, taking the pencil from your mouth.
"Oh, I-I'm sorry," You stammered, turning a knob on your bass. "Do you guys use this room in the afternoon?"
"Just a couple times a week," Eddie shrugged, eyeing your frame and bass, a Mitchell. Must be a rock bass.
"I can leave," You turned your amp off. "I don't want to intrude on what you guys do."
"It's just DnD," Eddie told you. "These guys can wait a couple minutes, right?"
The group nodded and mumbled, slowly filing into the room.
You didn't know any of the men walking into the room, and you'd realized you were outnumbered. But they couldn't do any harm, right? They're just a group of nerds wanting to play DnD.
"You play with someone?" Eddie asked, slowly making his way over to you, eyeing your amp, then your bass, then making eye contact with you again.
"Just a little band with girls from the school I came from," You told Eddie, nervously gripping the neck of your bass.
"I figured you were new," And the man held his hand out to you. "Eddie."
"Y/n," You took his hand, taking note of his rings. "I'll go so I don't disturb you guys."
You unplugged the cord from your bass.
"Let me help," Eddie offered, going over to the wall to unplug the amp, and rolling up the cord a specific way.
He carried the amp to the drama door, opening the door and letting your through first before handing you your amp.
"Thanks Eddie," You took the amp.
"Anytime," Eddie smiled. "See you tomorrow?"
"See you tomorrow," You returned the smile, turning and walking down the hallway towards the front main entrance to the school.
And Eddie watched you all the way, making sure you got down the hallway safe.
And when he turned and the door shut behind him, the Hellfire Club erupted into teases, pokes, and prods. Eddie mumbled "shut up" and shoved a few to the side, picking up his DnD box and setting up the board and his dungeon master area. He played his game, but you never left his mind.
