In the empty hospital, she was still there, hidding in the closet of her medicalized room. Trying her best to not making any sound and asking in silence
"Why Law hasn't came back yet?".
Lammy knew that her brother lied, oh so many times to her, that those screams in the streets weren't the happy shouting of a festival. She knew people were getting killed, but for her brother's sake, she pretended to believe him. A part of her wanted to believe that Law's words were the truth, that nothing bad ever happened.
But now, all those hopes were destroyed, all she wished for was that Law was alive.
In desperation, she whispered a prayer; asking, 𝘯𝘰, begging God to protect her brother. She's not sure if she still believes in any superior being at this point, but she was willing to hope for a savior, someone that could help Law. She eventually came to the conclusion that if there was a God that did love them, but not enough to save them, she had to do it herself.
She slowly got out of the closet, she'd just apologize to Law for disobeying, but finding him was more important. She walked carefully in the corridors, in fear of being seen by whoever decided that Flevance and its people have to be crossed out the map. The only light she could use to see was the fire visible from the window, she accelerated her pace when she realized that the hospital was probably next. She walked, she trotted, then she ran. She ran as fast as she could in the dark corridors, until passing by a mirror. "It's me..." She couldn't help but whisper those words. When she felt her health deteriorating, her family got rid of all the mirrors in her room, she didn't understand why until now. Her tanned skin as gone pale, white spots on making it look even more ghost-like. Her chocolate hair? White locks were everywhere. When she realized how dead she looked she started running again, "I might have the looks of a corpse, but I don't want to become one!" she thought to herself.
When she stepped out of the hospital, she pretty much thought that her effort were useless. A group of adults, all in white uniform, the chance of her getting killed were the highest, who else could be behind the genocide of her dear town?
"It's the end for me, isn't it?" Was the only thing she thought before closing her eyes, she may die, but refused to do so on her knees, she had to stay up, keep what was so little left of her pride.
"Open your eyes." A stern voice said, Lammy did as it asked. The order came from a middle aged lady with grey hair, styled into a slicked back ponytail. Out of all of these adults, she was the most well dressed. In the dark of the night and the smoke of the fire, the young girl could distinct the woman wearing a midnight blue blouse with a white suit vest over it. She had on her shoulders what looked like a white cape adorned with gold.
Or maybe it was a cloak? All that Lammy really knew is that it was a weird attire to witness such a bloody massacre.
They stared at her in silence, looking all thoughtful. "You don't look as unhealthy as the others,and you must be a strong girl for managing to survive this long." The well-dressed lady took Lammy's hand in her own. "Who knows, maybe we'll find a way to keep you alive longer." and with those words, the young girl found herself walking along the marines. They were doing one last checkup of the town for data, or something like that.
Lammy didn't really listen to what the lady, 𝘛𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘦, said to her. She was way too busy contemplating what Flevance became, the town where there was happy festival only some years ago, all was gone. All her memories burned to the ground, observing the lifeless corpses of people that were part of her life just yesterday. Death as always been a vague concept to Lammy until she almost experimented it, and she completely understood it today. They were gone.
Before leaving the ashes of the White Town, they passed in front of the hospital one last time, with the only difference that it was now on fire. "Good thing you didn't stay in here, huh?" Lammy couldn't help but agree with Tsuru. The plan her brother made to protect her almost killed her. She looked one last time at the hospital, until noticing something in front of the open gate, something red that 𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘯'𝘵 blood. A red tie, one of the uniform of the Catholic school that her brother and she used to go to. She recognized to who it belonged, for the simple fact that it was her 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳'𝘴. That's how Lammy lost all hope, her brother burned to the ground because he wanted to save her. Guilt won't let her sleep for a long time and she knows it.
When Lammy and the group of Marines were walking towards the exit to this White hell, they met a man with his face hidden by a mask and armed of a gun. He was about to talk to Tsuru when she immediately interrupted him;
"I'm taking this child with me. No, I do not care about the orders you've been given. She's going out of Flevance alive like it or not. It's an order from me."
After getting out of Lammy's hometown, a new life began for her.
Years later, in a marine base, Commodore Trafalgar D. Water Lammy is walking through her office, dressed in a midnight blue blouse, white suit vest and that cape-like white cloak on her shoulders. Before going through the door, she take a look at herself in the mirror; a few white patches left, but her skin came back to its tanned state. There was also still some white locks in her light brunette hair, but she couldn't care less. She whispered to the young woman in the mirror; "Despite everything, it's still me."
