Chapter Text
"It's been an hour, tons of bodies were thrown in the fire of judgement, its a fucking bloodbath out there." Said Kuina as she looked down at the first floor from above, seeing innocent victims being shot and sliced by the militant corps. She turned to Chishiya, moving a thick beaded braid behind her ear. "I assume you've figured out who the witch is already.".
Chishiya looked back at her and nodded with a grin, he's figured out every time in every game, there was no way he would have stopped now, not that he would help immediately or anything. "Hikari Kuina, are you doubting me?" He put his hand on her shoulder and chuckled. Chishiya watched the other members of the beach violently killing the other players then looked up back at Kuina. "Entertaining, isn't it? We've got the best view up here.".
Kuina bit on her unlit cigarette, she smiled, not at the dying players but at Chishiya, to have a fucking psychopathic genius as a friend of hers came to be truly a blessing. She was just lucky that if she stuck with him, she could never die, he could figure out any game strategies. She was also grateful that he didn't care for living and played the games for entertainment which meant that if they ever come over a game with one survivor only, she could be fine.
"You know I don't have the intellect to know who the witch is..." she replied as they exchanged glances. Chishiya held his head in his palm with a judgemental expression. "...or have the need to because I have you now. Mind telling me who it is?" She continued apologetically. Chishiya smiled at his friend. He enjoyed feeling needed and didn't mind her asking.
"It's Momoka, you dumbass." He told her as he flicked Kuina on her forehead. "We've got no other clue than the fact she was killed and there are tons of Beach residents. Besides, without a giant twist, well, I wouldn't really consider this a game worth having half the people here burned." Kuina looked down at Last Boss and Aguni and prepared to leave.
"Well, I should get going, last time I checked, An was taking the knife to do some sort of fingerprint test or something. I gotta be sure before we set the body in flames, it's kinda the only lead we have. Hope your guess is true." Kuina said, Chishiya nudged her with his elbow, implying that it wasn't a guess. He took a step backwards and let out a heavy sigh. Kuina looked at him. "What is it?" She asked.
Chishiya pointed at what he was looking at and tucked his hands in his hoodie's pockets. "Shit. Niragi's here." He patted Kuina on the back as a gesture of good luck as he saw Kuina nod at him "You better get going, it looks like he just got back from the rooftop. Hurry after your girlfriend." Kuina paused and smirked at that last bit.
"Girlfriend? Girlfriend you say? You mean An?"
"Yes, now shoo. You don't want to die before clearing the game, you're the only one who knows wear she is right now, we cannot afford to lose you." Chishiya smiled at her, preparing to escape from Niragi himself.
"Now don't act like that. For your information, I'm not into An. Would I mind fucking her? No. Would I mind being with her? No. Am I into her? No."
"Shut your hole and run."
"Do you mean shut up or do you mean I want to fuck her?"
"Whichever pisses you off more. It's fine though, there's no need to worry, it's not like you have the balls to make a move."
Once they've reached somewhere Niragi couldn't see them, Kuina crossed her arms and thought about it. She blushed and tapped her finger against her chin. Chishiya knew he was right, he was right all the time. Kuina began to speak "Well, it's not like you care about dying, fuckwad. It's still not like you have the balls to get us completely safe from those lunatics who are ripping people limb from limb." She was exaggerating, they were armed, besides, the only one even ABLE to rip anyone limb from limb is Aguni and he wasn't doing shit.
"Why would I need the balls to do anything?" Chishiya asked, making a good and reasonable point in the conversation. "I don't care about clearing the game.
"Well, for your information, no, I DON'T know where exactly An is, and it will take me forever ever to find her. Until then, I want you to keep at least one of these dumb retarded fucks away from me, An and every other player...if you have the balls, pussy." She replied, lowering and leaning her face closer to his just so she could spit on him at the last word. "Choose your victim, you better make it an important one."
"I have no reason to."
"I'll ask An out if you do."
"..."
"You can watch her reject and punch me."
"I'm considering." Said Chishiya as he quickly turned his head away, twisting a lock of his hair. "I've considered, I would like to see you get punched."
"I love how immature you are at times. Suggestion, I would really like Niragi out of the way. The sniper is annoying, he's the only one I can't run from. Go after him." Suggested Kuina. "Go."she whispered as she showed a little hand gesture, pointing at Niragi. Chishiya huffed and tried to think before he started to head upstairs."
"Chishiya, wait. How are you so certain that An's gonna punch me?"
"I have my reasons."
Chishiya slowly walked up the stairs, thinking on each step, he wanted to stop at his room for a moment to pick up some weapons. He opened his door to see what he could use, there was a handmade flamethrower on his bed. He made it a few minutes ago with Kuina and dropped it off in his room. He wasn't sure what he could do for his bet to stop Niragi from killing, all he had in mind was killing him.
He picked up the flamethrower, and went to the top floor, where Niragi was shooting Beach residents as everyone else from the militant corps was dragging the corpses towards the fire of judgement. Momoka was just laying still in the center. It was unbelievable that these maniacs couldn't just burn the first dead resident. It was the first for fuck's sake. Chishiya peeked behind every door there was to see if anyone left any weapons behind. In one room, Usagi, Tatta and Asahi were shaking Arisu for answers. What idiots.
When he reached the top floor, he began to crawl on the floor in case Niragi sees him...as if Chishiya wasn't short enough to properly hide. He really couldn't give less of a fuck. Though, nobody would actually WANT to die. It was normal for this to be a time of fear. Chishiya himself was a reasonable person. Heavily breathing, he was terrified, life or death, he didn't care, but nobody would want to get shot. Chishiya tugged on his hair and bit his bottom lip as he started sweating. He was never best at combat.
As Chishiya was on his knees, he felt the fear, striking him. Fuck, why did it have to matter? Why did the future pain of getting shot have to matter so much? He had the flamethrower in one hand and a fist in the other. He didn't care, at least not at the moment, not when he kept thinking about Kuina, they were friends after all. Who wouldn't want to see their friend get punched? If An accepts, he would be happy to see that too.
He was now on the same side as Niragi, he quietly stood up, hoping that nobody could see him attempt an attack at him. Chishiya couldn't use the flamethrower to fry his ass in the open like this, he's dead if Aguni catches him...that is, if Aguni gave a shit. He couldn't risk it though. Chishiya held the flamethrower backwards and charged towards Niragi.
Niragi was caught off guard as Chishiya ran at him, he hit Niragi in the face repeatedly with the end of the flamethrower, hoping his teeth would get knocked in and that he would choke on them. Niragi shoved his arms away, making Chishiya drop it. Rapidly firing at him without aiming, Niragi struggled to shoot him, due to Chishiya grabbing on to his rifle.
Both of them were obviously having trouble fighting the other one off...well at least Chishiya was. Chishiya had never been the best at fighting. He was suffering, he was fighting unarmed, he was the most likely to die there. Chishiya was getting repeatedly hit in face and stomach after Niragi decided not to waste his bullets on this shit.
Chishiya was coughing up blood, seeing Kuina getting punched was definitely not worth getting hit by the bottom of a rifle. He was in great pain and wanted the suffering to stop. He was smart enough to beat spades games but intelligence meant nothing in a fight. His face was covered in bruises and his mouth was drenched in his blood. Chishiya was weak, weaker than his opponent.
Many screams of the Beach residents filled the halls, and none of them were his. He might have been a harmless little shit but he was strong enough to suffer in silence. He felt dizzy, his head felt heavier than ever. Chishiya had felt stupid for the first time in his life, he felt stupid for charging at Niragi. He couldn't see, his vision was red and blurry, his eyes were bathed in blood.
He passed out for a few seconds when Niragi was beating the shit out of him. His head was laying in a little red puddle and his formerly white clothes were covered in blood. After a tragic nosebleed, he was flipped on his back. Niragi looked at his hair, pretty and brightened. He grabbed on and pulled his head up, smashing Chishiya onto the floor again and again, keeping him down with his foot. "How do you like that? You son of a bitch."
It only took the sound of a click to wake him up. Niragi reloaded his rifle and leaned forward, "Time for your flesh to burn in the raging flames like the others. You're one tough bastard.". Chishiya wasn't ready to die just yet, he grabbed on to the head of the rifle and stood up, he tried to escape the bullets. Surprised as he was, Niragi fired without aiming once again and hit Chishiya in the shoulder. A high pitched scream fled from his tongue. No one was strong enough to resist the pain of a bullet. Maybe Aguni.
Chishiya managed to shove Niragi's rifle away from him, when he dropped it, Chishiya opened the door behind them and shoved Niragi in. Niragi pulled Chishiya in with him from the hood of his jacket. "You son of a bitch, when I get my rifle back from the first floor, there won't be a resident alive to pull a stunt like that." Niragi threw Chishiya onto the bed, preparing to keep beating the shit out of him. "Shame I don't have my rifle, this could end a whole lot faster if I did."
He got on the bed with his body over Chishiya, Niragi had himself on all fours just looking at him. Chishiya was too weak to move at the moment. Niragi wiped his nose and looked at the blood in his hand. "Look at that, you even made me bleed a little, you little piece of shit."
A punch. "You know, not a lot of people dared to come up to me like that, must have been hard for you." Chishiya shifted and whimpered after every punch. "Handmade flamethrower, you're such a showoff sometimes."
A second punch. "I bet you thought fighting me was going to be easy, huh? You're so full of yourself." Niragi held on to Chishiya's upper arm, clutching his nails into the fabric. "Becoming an executive after Hatter died, you must think you're really special, special enough to be able to kill me."
A third. "Just what the fuck made you think that you were able to come up to me with that flamethrower of yours, huh?". Chishiya was harshly inhaling and exhaling, glaring at Niragi. Chihsiya held his head up to his face and pressed on his bruises. His neck was covered with a ring of them.
Niragi lifted his head and spit a shot of blood on Chishiya's forehead. He looked over at Chishiya's bullet wound. The one on his shoulder, he wasn't good at shooting from a short distance. He tilted his head and shifted his hand upwards. Niragi wasn't proud of shooting him in the shoulder, he could have shot the head or chest or something. He could manage with his shoulder, though. Heck, he could have managed with anywhere apparently.
Chishiya was already suffering enough from both physical pain and regret. He kept thinking about playing dead but it didn't seem quite possible when he couldn't stop panting like a dog. He wanted the injuries to heal as quickly as possible, he kept on trying to calm himself by stroking his hair and digging his fingers into the back of his neck.
Niragi thought to himself for a second and looked at his shoulder. He pressed on Chishiya's wound. Chishiya bit his lip, trying not to scream his ass off. Mischievously, Niragi smiled, lightly laughing to himself. He looked at Chishiya and unzipped his hoodie. Niragi shook off the blood and pulled it aside, leaving chishiya shirtless. Thank goodness for the Beach's first rule, it would have been awkward if he was wearing something underneath.
"Grateful I couldn't kill you?" he said, Niragi stuck a finger in Chishiya's bullet wound, more blood started streaming out. "Well, you shouldn't be." Chishiya screamed and cried so high and loud that it seemed like only dogs could hear him, he kept hitting his head against the pillow under his head as if he was pleading for Niragi to stop.
Niragi stuck a second finger in Chishiya's wound, stretching the opening, more screams came out, screams that Niragi had always been familiar with. He should have known, he's caused many of them. "Hah, you little shit. I suppose you wouldn't mind if I start..." Niragi slowly started rotating his two fingers like a screwdriver, diving the, in even deeper, shooting blood out like a water fountain. "...twisting."
Compared the bleeding bullet wound to a water fountain felt filtered and censored. Clearly, it was more of a volcano. Rotating and dipping them in deeper, clearly, something was going to come out. Disgusting as it was, Niragi didn't give a fuck, blood and bits of flesh weren't the only things that came pouring out. Chishiya couldn't stop screaming, ear splitting screams fled from his mouth like bees from a hive.
Whimpers, coughs and screams, of course it was the screams that came out the most. Niragi just chuckled to himself at the fact that Chishiya was suffering like someone drowning in acid. Chishiya gritted his teeth after every scream as Niragi pulled out his fingers and stroke them back inside again, letting Chishiya hit his head on the head of the bed.
Niragi allowed his fingers to fly up once again, letting Chishiya breathe. Of course, after just a few seconds, he drove them down, twisting and twisting. In shock, Chishiya pulled his arms up and put them on Niragi's neck, digging his nails in Niragi's skin.
Surprised, Niragi kept his fingers in Chishiya's shoulder and stopped twisting. After one long scream from Chishiya he halted for just a second to take a good look at him. Niragi didn't expect Chishiya to be able to think straight, he was obviously still in great pain. He didn't think he knew that he put his hands on his neck just yet.
His eyes were flicked open but he couldn't really see, at least he couldn't focus on what was in front of him. Everything seemed like a muted blur for Chishiya. Not for Niragi, though, Niragi could easily focus on what he was seeing. It hit him like a truck, it hit him when Chishiya put his hands on him. In front of Niragi...layed a partially unconscious...shirtless...Chishiya.
A beautiful sight. A beautiful man. Niragi moved his other arm towards Chishiya's head and held on with his elbow, he gently pulled on his hair. "This bastard..." he said. Chishiya was...someone Niragi would call pretty, he had elegant features and everything Niragi could want in a woman. A perfect nose, flower petals for lips, majestically half-shut eyes and a pale gold waterfall with black ends for hair.
"What the fuck..." thought Niragi. "I hate this little bitch so fucking much. Yet why, why oh why haven't I snapped his neck just yet? The Beach, Aguni depended on me and the militants corps to burn every body possible. I should be working, I should have picked up my rifle. Has he not had enough? Torture was never as quick as killing. I've killed tons of people, why is Chishiya so special that I decided to spare this one?"
Fuck. Niragi knew he couldn't kill Chishiya but he should've at least gone back to killing the other residents in case one of them was the witch.
Niragi moved his hand down to touch Chishiya's face. "...this bastard..." he repeated. "...so small...soft..." he smiled to himself, admiring the man in front of him. "...pretty." Niragi leaned over, closer to Chishiya, wanting to brush his lips against his...against Chishiya's wet, luxurious lips. Niragi backed up.
He pulled his fingers out after one quick twist, spilling a long line of blood out. Chishiya let out a sharp gasp, sat up, his vision didn't seem so blurry anymore. Chishiya panted and threw his hand on his shoulder. He rested and leaned his back on the head of the bed. He clutched onto his wound, when he let go, he found a trail of blood leaving his body, his hand was completely red and soaked. Chishiya threw his hand up to wipe the sweat off his forehead, only leaving a splotch of blood on his face. "fffFuck"
Sharply inhaling. Sharply exhaling. The pain was burning. Niragi was found standing up, off the bed. Chishiya had a loss of words and no idea how to respond to his current state. "FUCK." Niragi was facing him with his back. Chishiya looked at him, seeing everything he hated about him, the hideous savannah animal patterned black shirt drenched in blood and his stupid black leather shoes.
Niragi turned to look at Chishiya. Beautiful beautiful Chishiya. A breathtaking view, his adorably tiny waist, his soft shivering hands and his peach like skin. As Niragi saw Chishia beginning to pass out, he decided to leave the soon to be unconscious young man there in the room. Niragi took a deep breath and closed the door behind him, the first thing he wanted to do was to see anyone has cleared the game and burned the witch, nothing else.
He first went to see if his rifle was still on the first floor, it was. Niragi picked it up, seeing nothing but corpses the others forgot to bring to the fire. He didn't see anyone there. He yelled and called for Last Boss and Aguni and heard a load of shouting coming from one direction. Shouting? And no gunfire? Curious, Niragi went towards the shouting to see what was going on. A single man went out, crying and running for his life. Niragi began muttering under his breath "What the damn fuck has gone into the Beach? Hatter hasn't been gone for long." In response, out came a horrified cry for help and a big warning for Niragi.
"THE BEACH IS ON FIRE. THE BEACH IS ON FIRE. THE BEACH-"
Holy mother of heck. The man ran up to Niragi and gave him a hard ass push "COME ON, THE BEACH IS ON FIRE" he said. What the fuck? Niragi began running along with him. He was baffled and had no idea how long he was in that room. He didn't bother thinking about it, all he tried to do was to get as far away as possible, he began to see the flames, chasing them on. "RUN, GOD DAMN IT." All he could hear was the sound of the man shrieking in his ears.
Niragi and the other Beach resident ran away from the fire, in fear of being burned alive, they ran fast and far, Niragi couldn't think straight, he looked back and tried to see if anyone had been left behind, not that he cared or anything. Holy shit. Momoka was gone. What the fuck. "Did anyone clear the game? Where's-" he asked. "MOMOKA, SHE KILLED HERSELF, SHE AND ASAHI ARE DEALERS. HOW CAN YOU CARE ABOUT THAT RIGHT NOW?" Right. Niragi should be running.
Halfway through, he looked back once again...and saw...Chishiya's handmade flamethrower. Chishiya's flamethrower. FUCK. Chishiya. Niragi stopped running. "COME ON, WE'RE ALMOST THERE, KEEP GOING." Niragi wanted to fight back but he kept running, running to save his ass. A million thoughts raced to his head at once. Before the man got out, he threw Niragi out the door and saw everyone who survived the 10 of hearts' witch hunt standing outside.
The first person Niragi ran into as he fell on the ground outside the beach was a woman in a navy blue, tropical bikini. She had a thick load of beaded braids and a tall figure. She bent down, Niragi was sure he's seen her before but they've never officially met. When she bent down, she began yelling and scolded him immediately, spit was falling on his face. It all happened so quickly, Niragi wasn't sure what she said, until he heard the words "What have you done with Chishiya, asswipe?"
Oh hell no. Chishiya. That bastard, that beautiful bastard. Firstly, Niragi wanted to kill anyone who dared to call him an asswipe. Secondly, he finally came to his senses. Thirdly, he started to remember where he had seen that woman before. Fourthly, he got up, and looked at the collapsing utopia. A large chunk of concrete fell from the roof and right in front of him. "Right. Him." He replied.
Kuina got up and dropped her cigarette. She knew she never should've sent him out to stop Niragi. She kicked him in the lower leg. "Where the flying fuck is Chishiya?" Kuina continued by pushing Niragi's head down into a painful knee strike."HUH? I SAW HIS FLAMETHROWER WHEN I LEFT. WHERE THE FUCK IS HE?". Niragi backed up with his hand covering his face with his hands, holding up his bleeding nose.
"JESUS CHRIST, CAN'T YOU SEE MY FACE IS FUCKED UP ENOUGH ALREADY?" he shouted. Kuina punched him a couple of times before asking again. All Niragi could respond with was a stupid stuttering answer. "I-I-I-I'm pretty sure he came out with me?" This son of a bitch. Kuina wanted to throw his ass in the fire. Beating Last Boss just to come to this conclusion was not worth her time.
Kuina walked away with her arms folded. She decided to leave as there was no sign that Chishiya was coming back. "That's the last of them. The others are probably dead." Said someone who was standing next to Kuina. "Nobody else can possibly get out of there alive." Everyone left just stood or sat there, watching the Beach fall. Watching Seaside Paradise Tokyo burn to the ground.
Niragi turned around to see the sight for himself. The walls couldn't handle it much longer. He saw bricks fall out of place. The raging flames went higher and higher. The top floor was definitely going to be the first to collapse. The top floor...where Chishiya was. Niragi didn't care about Chishiya...a lot, but he cared enough to go in and never mention it again. Looking back, Kuina was choking on tears, An was there for comfort. Not a lot of executives could be found, not Mira, not Kuzuryu.
Niragi took a heroic step towards the entrance, now with a fallen door. He entered, and ran inside, full of regret. He was yelling, shouting, screaming even, at everything and mostly at himself. He charged towards the flame as if he was preparing to fight it, leaving the former Beach residents in shock. As she continued to comfort Kuina An began to speak.
"The only thing good about this is...Niragi dying."
"What?"
"What?"
"What did you say?"
"Look."
An pointed at Niragi as he charged upstairs, through the fire, coughing. He was still mad at himself, the fire and Chishiya. "DAMN YOU, BORDERLANDS. DAMN YOU IMAWA NO KUNI. DAMN YOOOU BEACH. FUCKING WITCH HUNT. DAMN AAALL OF YOU FUCKERS. DAMN YOU CHISHIYA." Off he went, into the fire, behind the flames and in front of everyone.
Chishiya. That bastard, Niragi had no reason to save him, just a few minutes ago, he was torturing him, drenching him in his own blood without giving a shit. What changed? Chishiya. That bastard. He tried to kill Niragi with that handmade flamethrower, yet Niragi was still running into the Beach for him. Chishiya. That bastard, out of everything he was mad at, he was mostly mad at himself for doing this, for all he knew, Chishiya was going to try to kill him again.
Niragi was coughing a lot, smoke filled his lungs, he couldn't take the heat. Sweat was dripping from his forehead, blood was still pouring down from his nose, he wanted to end it all. Niragi suffered the fear of dying in the fire, he tried to avoid it as much as possible as his heart kept pounding loudly in his chest. A bit of flame caught on his shirt, when he saw it, Niragi put it out with his hand, leaving a burn on his palm.
He eventually reached the top floor and found the room where he left Chishiya. He also found how he left him, bleeding and unconscious...in a collapsing building. Unconscious. Perfect. Niragi didn't want him to see what was going on. As he reached the top floor, only half of Chishiya's walls were left. He looked outside, seeing piles of shattered glass and bricks on the ground.
Beautiful as he was, Chishiya had his eyes closed, allowing Niragi to see his natural beauty. Niragi sat on the bed next to him. Chishiya looked just like the way Niragi saw him when he was there the last time. Beautiful and broken with a bullet wound on his right shoulder, ruffled blond hair and torn lips that were dyed and reddened by his blood. Just how Niragi remembered, he was suddenly reminded that he came to save him from the fire just for his beauty. He wouldn't have said he loved Chishiya, yet he wouldn't have said anything. Something about the still silence highlighted the way Chishiya looked.
Niragi bent down, keeping his eyes on Chishiya. As he lowered, Niragi began to slowly close his eyes, repeating a simple sentence to himself "There's still time, there's still time." He thought. Bricks were falling and the fire was spreading. "There's still time." For what? Niragi did it again, he brushed his lips against Chishiya's. A wave of satisfaction flew over him. "There's still time" Niragi lowered himself a bit further and opened his mouth.
Wanting to share the exchange of saliva, wanting to feel Chishiya's warmth with his tongue, Niragi- "THERE'S NO TIME." same thing happening. Bricks were falling and the fire was spreading. His eyes flung open. The heat, the tension, no...There was no time.
The former Beach residents stood outside watching Seaside Paradise Tokyo burn to the ground. They were mourning the lost ones. Kuina was sure that there was definitely no way that Chishiya could walk out from the Beach's doorway and run back into her arms.
...
As much as it hurt her
...
She was right.
Niragi got out, slightly limping, carrying Chishiya in his arms bride style. There was no way he would have let Chishiya walk in his condition. Kuina looked up at Niragi and walked over towards him. She was grateful that Chishiya was able to get out alive. She awkwardly nodded as a greeting, seeing Niragi nod back made her smile.
"Niragi."
"Hey."
🂺🂺🂺🂺🂺🂺🂺🂺🂺🂺
The next day, Chishiya woke up and asked Kuina what happened. She led him to Niragi. Clutching onto his shoulder, Chishiya got up took a look at his wounds and walked towards Niragi. He could still feel smell of smoke on him. The Beach, a utopia his ass. Niragi looked up and saw Chishiya, he awkwardly crossed his fingers.
"Chishiya"
That bastard.
"Hey."
