Chapter Text
“Detective Pöyhönen, we need you down at the downtown street of Helsinki in ten minutes- there’s been a murder.”
“Vittu- another-? I be there.”
~
The building smelled of smoke as the Finn entered, the specifically burnt photo frames reassuring him that this was no accident.
“Hello??”
There was a weak cough, and then the sound of retching.
The detectives footsteps quickened, walking through the scorched remains of the building. He was told there would be a body there as well as a police team, who’d have more information. All he had to do was investigate how the man died. Simple as that.
Or it would’ve been if there.. like… was a body-?
There’s were no police and no body either. When he walked into the last unsearcehed room, all he saw was a hooded figure- alive- doubled over.
“Hands up. I’m with the police-“
The man slowly turned his face, which was half hidden by a black scarf. But what he could see was his eyes and the bridge of his nose. He had fluffy brown hair sticking out from under the hood. His eyes were dark brown, looking cloudy from all the smoke.
He looked confused.
Am I not speaking Finnish? What’s he not understanding?
The hooded man blinked at him a few times before getting up fully, starting to cross the room.
“I don’t have time for this. Move.”
He growled in pretty clear English.
A foreigner?
“No. “
The brunette widened his eyes, an incredulous look on his face.
“No?”
He chuckled, wiping ash- or was that vomit?- off his face.
“I don’t think you know who you’re talking to. Back off. If you don’t wanna end up like that-,”
He nodded towards the- ah, the dead body he was assured would be there-, before looking back.
,” I suggest you stay away from me.”
Jere wasn’t having any of this. What was this guy talking about? He sounds like an angsty teenage boy.
“No. Was it you? The body?”
The foreigner sighed dramatically, giving a sarcastic look.
“Noo I’m just here to checking the place out, seeing if anyone’s renting it out.-“
The detective rolled his eyes, taking a step forward, before knocking the man to the floor, surprisingly easily getting handcuffs on.
“Who you work for, eh?”
Jere now sat atop the hooded man’s stomach, making sure he couldn’t move.
“Who do I work for huh? Myself.
“Liar.”
About to interrogate him further, a much taller man, also hooded and masked, walked in through the door.
He spat something in a much different language, one that Jere hasn’t ever heard before.
The man under him grinned and, with a shocking amount of force, rolled himself out of the Finn’s hold, leaving him on the ground as he left with the other foreigner.
“Word of advice, detective. Leave us alone.”
He gave a silly thumbs up, a bit uncharacteristic for a criminal-, before disappearing.
Jere lay there, on his back on the floor, confused out of his mind.
What the fuck was that?
