The Sweetness of Belonging

Summary:

Follows the trials and tribulations of Price fostering an older teen.

***

Reader's POV will be through journal entries and Price's will be from a normal third person. I thought that it might be something fun to try out.

Notes:

Hello! I'm quite new to this and wanted to try out some writing styles. So, please enjoy and have fun reading! :D

To be fair, this time it wasn't my fault that I got relocated. The parents needed to be more aware of the activities their brat of a kid got up to. Like the weed he smoked then blamed the smell on me, sticking it in my shit and everything. Ugh, this fucking blows. Anyway, this stupid CPS lady tried talking me up during the car ride over here, I wasn't really feeling up for it. Majority of it was spent in silence. I needed it anyhow 'cause that house was nothing short of being loud all the damn time.

Whatever. I guess I'm not too salty about leaving that place. It's not the best house I've lived in. Though I seem to have bad luck when it comes to sticking around places, nothing ever longer than a year. Something about 'outstanding circumstances' a.k.a. adult speak for 'we don't want this teenager here anymore, they're causing too much trouble.' What a joke. Like I said previously, I didn't do jack shit and that kid was a little shit.

The guy here seems nice. He's quiet. His house-cottage thing is basically silent except for the TV I can hear running down in the living room right now. I think the CPS lady said his name was Joan Prince... no... John Price, I think. I don't really care whatsoever. I'll probably be out of this joint (lol) within a few months or so. I have zero faith that this place will work out.

I think it's odd they stuck me in a household with someone who has no kids or spouse. I thought they liked folks who had one or the other or both. I guess it's rare they let someone like him slip through to foster children. I assume I'm not his first one either based off the desk in my room, there're some scratches and nicks on it. The room here is a swanky one too. I actually like it for a change, nothing is too overwhelming here except for the silence. Did I mention he didn't say a word to me at dinner? The food was bang up though. The chicken wasn't dry and the broccoli was seasoned. I very much appreciated the seasoned vegetables, there's nothing worse than an unseasoned vegetable.

Other than that, my day was pretty uneventful. I didn't get much homework done though. Well whatever. Peace out. :P

When I came downstairs for breakfast this morning, the man actually spoke to me! All he said was good morning and then asked me what I was going to go today, but I think that it's progress. He's still weird about talking though. I don't understand, normally families would've asked me every invasive question underneath the sun. This Is a nice change of pace though from what I normally go through. He's going to be a tough nut to crack (lol).

I got all my homework done today, what a surprise whoop whoop. Who could've guessed? Definitely not me that's for sure. It was pretty easy, just a worksheet for math and annotating an article for English. It was about how to be successful in... something. I dunno, I immediately forgot all the contents of it as soon as I pressed the turn in button. I could not care less about it, what's done is done. As long as I get a good grade on it. Poof, gone.

I pretty much spent the rest of the day in my room doing whatever. I'm kinda avoiding the guy and I do feel slightly bad about it, but... maybe he should talk more or something. I don't feel as though I'm to blame for this dilemma. Maybe I should one up him and try to get to know the guy, though it's fun guessing how he's like.

Right now, I think he's a deep sea diver who saves sharks and dolphins all day long or takes samples of rocks back up to the surface so geologists can do whatever cooky testing they want on them. Tomorrow he might be an astronaut exploring the deep depths of space. Never to return or to be seen again! I could get behind that one.

I wish the CPS lady told me what he does for a living, I really have no clue. He's so quiet to the point where it confuses me. Does he have no interest in getting to know me at all!!! I want, no need, to ask him questions at some point or else I think I might go crazy with this lack of information I'm getting from him. I will find out eventually, mystery man. I like that. Mystery man is his new name from now on.

Peace out. :P

HAPPY HALLO'S EVE EVERYONE!!! Time does move fast around here.

I know more now about mystery man. He used to be some sort of military dude, I forget exactly which branch he said. S.A.S, I think. Though he said he retired. Didn't say why... hmmmm... I wonder why. Those are questions for another time apparently considering he kinda shut me down after I kept asking him why. I guess it was sorta rude of me, but I don't think it's unfair to ask why when someone says they've retired from their life long job. Hopefully he'll tell me at some point.

Anywhatsits, I went grocery shopping with him the other day and we ran into this other strange man. (What is with all these strange dudes recently?) They conversed for a while, I'm don't entirely remember what they were yammering on about since I saw a really interesting box of noodles among all the other ones that looked exactly like it. Although from the way he spoke to him, he seemed comfortable and less up tight. Since he shut me down the other day, I couldn't help but be slightly jealous. Here was this closed off man speaking normally to this strange man whom I did not know. I guess they could be friends, OR MAYBE THEY SERVED TOGETHER!! Omigosh, I am quite the genius. I will be tooting my own horn for the next few minutes.

Hehe, I'm still quite proud of myself for that one. I think the puzzle pieces are all coming together, or at least the ones that I have. And the ones that fit (You can't mash pieces that don't fit obviously). Someday I will rue the day that I figure out the mystery man that is John Price. (I know his name better now).

Peace out. :P
