Summary:

Made better (hopefully)

Chapter Text

1 –

Kyle  leans   on  his  chair.  Aside from the room being cold and dark, it was awfully silent. I mean – Why wouldn’t it be? In the room sat two people - Kyle Garrick (or Anthony Clarke as you knew him.) who had been lying for three straight years, and you, the person who has been lied to and is now bound to a table.

He was a spy. He was sent to your country (which was a seemingly peaceful country) because the position of the president had fallen to the wrong hands, which was your fathers. Now, Kyle’s mission was to keep an eye on him from a close but safe distance. He had no orders from his higher ups to be with you. It was entirely his choice to get close to you, to use you. He just thought you were his best option.

It’s been six hours since he took you away. This time, he had no choice. You caught him going through your fathers office and you were definitely going to tell someone. He had to make sure that his cover wasn’t blown.

“Please, say something. Anything.” he pleaded with you. In the six hours you were here, you’ve said nothing. Everything was too much to bear for you. What were you supposed to say?

He sighs and crosses his arm. While he was getting impatient, he understood. This is a very heavy situation to carry.

Finally, you manage to collect your thoughts and now lay them on the table.

“I’ll talk.” You mumble, refusing to make eye contact with him. “But I want something in return.”

He's intrigued with your offer. “What do you want?”

With no hints of hesitation, you propose. “I want a new life, a clean slate.” You had said it so confidently it was almost like you’ve been planning this for a while.

This caught him a little off guard, but he understood. Once they neutralize your father, your life is over. Afterall, you’re already hated enough, imagine what would happen to you when the little safety your fathers position holds is gone.

“Fine,” he replies. “Let's say we can make that happen for you. Where do you wanna go?”

“London.”

“Why?”

“Seems interesting.”

He pauses for a while, then takes a deep breath. “..okay. I’ll talk to my boss after you tell me what I need to know.”

“No.”

You’ve confused him again. “What do you mean ‘no.’?”

“I’m not telling you anything until you give me what you want.” Are you being stubborn or persistent?

He takes a deep breath and looks away. “Fine.” he answered as he stood up.

“I'll get my supervisor then.”

Now that you’re alone in the room, all the thoughts you had before have come rushing back. Was I stupid to love you? Was I reckless to help? Was it obvious to everybody else? For three years has lied to you. What makes you think he’ll come through with his end of the deal?

Your thoughts are interrupted when he comes back, his captain behind him.

“This is my supervisor. Tell him what you want.”

You look at the bearded man behind him. He looks absolutely terrifying. When he looks at you, you can’t detect what he feels and that scares you.

“I want to go to London.” you tell him.

“And you’ll give us the intel?” he responds.

“Swear on my life.” you answer back.

He looks at Kyle and nods.

“We can arrange that. You’ll have to be a different person though.”

“Good.”

And with that, you start talking. You tell them everything you know, everything you’ve learned since you were a child, You tell them about all his properties, the names of his partners and proxies, the bank account in which he puts all his embezzled funds, everything. They were astounded. What kind of daughter would sell her family out just like that?

Cough “Alright, thank you kindly.” His Captain uttered. “I’ll be back to talk to you about our end of the deal.” he said before leaving the room. Now it’s just you and Kyle in the room once again.

It’s so so so very awkward, you could cut the tension in the room with paper when you suddenly ask him “Why me?”

You’ve caught him off-guard once again. “..What?”

You fidget with your knuckles. “Why me ?”

He looks down at his feet and licks his teeth. “You were the easy option. I was right.” he admitted.

Excuse you?

“What is that supposed to mean?”

“I mean- You’re his daughter. I got what I wanted from you.”

That stings a lot.

“So none of it was real?” you ask.

“No, none of it.”

You’re starting to get a little more upset at the situation and him.

“I could’ve been just a friend, you know. You could’ve just been really good friends with me,” you rant. “You didn’t have to tell me that you loved me. There were other ways.”

He felt so ashamed, all he could mutter up was “I’m sorry.”

“Get the hell out of my sight.”

The stress is catching up to him, he’s starting to get pissed off too.

“I did it for a greater cause!” he snapped. “I’m sorry you're upset I hurt your feelings but I’m saving lives out here, your daddy was on the verge of wagering war!”

Ouch.

“I never loved you. Hell, I could say all I feel for you is hate. I was stuck here for three years because of you. ” he followed.

In the heat of the moment, the words “I hate you more! Get out of my fucking sight.” slipped its way out of your mouth which was strange because neither of you meant it. He loved his time with you, he loved you. You loved him back, more than he probably did.

He leaves you alone and slams the door behind him.  And you? You sobbed, you sobbed so much. You sobbed until his Captain came back to talk to you.

His Captain told you he could lend you his flat in Greenwich since he doesn’t use it. No one, not even Kyle knew about his place. He also told you that he had connections that could help you with a new identity and a job.

Kyle watched from the other side of the glass. Arms crossed as he tried to listen in to their conversation but to no avail. After what seems to be thirty minutes, He watched as his Captain

Uncuffed you and shook your hands, and left. Now, you really were alone. You felt like your emotions were a ticking time bomb, waiting to explode. Was this a mistake? What if your life ends up worse there? Is it really worth abandoning your life? You’ll never see him again. You felt like your mind was betraying you, suddenly flooding you with your thoughts.

You begin to doubt yourself when your thoughts are abruptly cut off by Kyle walking back in again. Looking like he had just been chewed out.

'Hey..”  His tone is similar to the tone he usually has after a fight when he apologizes. (Though he is still refusing eye contact.) “We’re taking you back to your flat.”

You answer with a simple nod, acknowledging what he said. The car ride back home was excruciatingly silent. So many things were left unsaid. Is this really what's best for both of you? Maybe you should apologize since this may be the last time you see him again. But fate decides for you when the car stops in front of your building.
